  1. Yikes. Been out of Chicago for a few years. I didn't realize it had gotten like that.
  2. Eh. Detroit is doing a lot better nowadays. Downtown is making quite the comeback. All of the major sports arenas/stadiums share the same square mile or so. Casinos all around and big restaurant/bar scene emerging as well. Been to both Ford Field for the Bears and Comerica for the Sox. Very nice venues. A lot of money being pumped into the downtown and surrounding areas.
  3. I've been reading late June/early July... but I know there's certainly some concerns.
  4. Saw the Sox in their series at Comerica last weekend. 10 dollars per beer. Just for Millers. Stuff is getting outrageous everywhere.
  5. That's good. I'm sure a good chunk are Brewers fans making the quick drive down, though. No?
  6. I'd rather give May another shot than keep trotting out Trayce every day. This is a joke. I feel bad for him at this point. I mean, I'm sure I'd be fed up with May after a week too... but I don't know. Hard to keep justifying this. He's going to fall under .100 BA soon and he's an every day MLB outfielder until Avi comes back. Crazy.
  7. I liked seeing a triple and walk from the right side today. This is all going to come together for him soon and he'll have a really big July or August. Something along those lines. IMO He's cut down on the K's quite a bit recently as well.
  8. BTW, Trayce Thompson is a sad excuse for a Major League Baseball player. This is kind of ridiculous. Engel is a monster compared to him.
  9. I thought Moncada might make it back-to-back-to-back for a fraction of a second. Misread the launch angle. Hard hit ball, though
  10. He's also cutting down a K's a good deal since coming off of the DL. I'll take it. It's all a process of cutting down the flaws and trying to put the parts together at the same time. His career is 380 AB's old.
  11. Yeah, and I don't even care about losing at this point in the rebuild/development. It's just discouraging when your manager stinks and you have to watch him constantly blunder. Then, watching your young players botch the fundamentals of the game (i.e. our horrific defense) which also goes back to managing/coaching. Rebuilding isn't supposed to be fun, but it doesn't have to be everything we're experiencing either. I mean, whatever... hopefully in a couple of years, games like these will be apart of the days we look back and laugh at. This stuff doesn't ruin my day. Just annoys me a bit.
  12. I am astonished by how poor of a manager Renteria is. Didn't think it could get too much worse than RV, but everyday it's a pitcher left in too long... bullpen mismanaged... an absurd bunt call. Just hangs his starters out to dry when they've clearly lost their stuff. Couldn't be more obvious that Shields was cashed last inning. Sending him back out with 100 pitches... Golly man.
  13. That's a tough lineup to see in your first start.
  14. Yeah... I really need Carlos Rodon in my White Sox life.
  15. Moncada is officially struggling quite badly. Average has dropped over 20 points this last week.
  16. So now the other plays which has nothing to do with the ones we were discussing matter ? What? I was merely using your logic to demonstrate that you don't have to be in a player's shoes to spot a glaring miscue. I never once said those plays changed anything pertaining to the original Gonzalez miscue. Nothing worse than a failed ex jock thinking because of his limited experiemce he is an expert and his opinion matters more. And here comes the standard message board warrior ad hominem attack. I merely used my experience to demonstrate how at even at the (ADMITTEDLY) low level I played at, that was an unacceptable miscue. I never used my experience to say it meant my opinion was more valid than yours. I even said "I played nowhere near this level"... I was open about that. THE ENTIRE POINT was that I played so much further down than this level we are viewing on TV. You're being a child. The reason I feel that my opinion is more valid than yours, is because your opinion is absurd and no one in baseball would possibly agree with you that it wasn't a bad play by Gonzalez. You cannot justify failure to stop that ball with a man on 3rd. There simply isn't a defense. Which is probably why you're resorting to ad hominem. Yes, Gonzalez is catching Major League pitchers with more velo and movement. That would be an excuse if Gonzalez wasn't a major league catcher... but (at least for today) he is. So, what's your point? EDIT: Renteria obviously agrees... as he just benched Gonzalez Never coach little league please. Dude, you are being a huge ass right now. I didn't personally attack you. This is completely uncalled for and ridiculous. I coach young players and I couldn't be more supportive of them. I played for so many jerks at that age who yelled at me, and I wouldn't dare do it to them. Jerk
  17. I am astonished Gonzalez has made it this far in baseball. How?
  18. So, I guess I can't judge Moncada booting that grounder because I wasn't there? "Hey... these big leaguers hit it hard with a lot of spin. You don't understand!" How about Palka's drop? How about the botched pop-up by Gonzalez? Skole's failure to pick Anderson's errant throw? Should none of us EVER comment on this board because we're in our "cozy chairs"? I guess we should delete the forum, eh? What's the use in discussing this stuff? Is the only person who can judge a play... the player who was directly involved? lol It was a putrid play, by a catcher who has been putrid. No one in baseball would say it wasn't a miscue. I don't know why you are. It makes no sense. He's an f'ing MLB catcher and made a lazy play allowing a run. What is there to defend? It's the catcher's version of booting a groundball... what is there to grasp onto? It's an indefensible play at any level, much less the big leagues. It was a fastball, 6 inches in front of him, center of his body that he lazily tried to pick instead of blocking. This isn't some complex miscue that the layman can't understand. No, it's not open for conversation... If that makes me a prick in your eyes, tough titties for me. I suppose.
  19. Gonzalez should be sent down mid-inning. He is a putrid, putrid excuse for a major league baseball player. Skole, I'll forgive one time. Anderson's throws have to be better. Palka is lucky he's been one of our better hitters. Oh my god... now Moncada as I type
  20. Lol... One pitch, job done. I guess. Playing the bullpen shuffle game in the 5th inning.
  21. Yikes... Thanks Jose, I'll take it. Solid pitch as well, but that was part gift. No doubt.
  22. Covey got screwed. Had his struggles, but didn't deserve this. Skole/Anderson make that play and there's 2 outs, nobody on to begin the inning. We're probably hitting right now.
