  1. Into their shitty bullpen. No excuse not to add on here with 1st/2nd no one out.
  2. He has ridiculous stuff with unbelievable velo and movement. Learning how to command that isn't going to happen overnight. He's head/shoulders better than last year. He's going to get there.
  3. Cease's shit is so nasty. lol Can't wait until he can demand this stuff.
  4. Holy shit... This ump sucks Did anyone see him not call the 2-1 pitch a strike that caught all of the zone and then call that full count pitch a strike that landed on fuckin Mars?
  5. Shit happens. If he was a bad defensive catcher, I would be pissed. But he's damn good. He knew he had to make up for it and he stepped up. All is well. Big, big knock to salvage the team from what would have been a damn shitty loss.
  6. I'd really like to keep politics out of this. Not everyone feels this way and I would rather keep our baseball board a baseball board.
  7. This is why you teach young catchers never to lollipop throws back to the pitcher. Inexcusable at the big league level. He nearly fell and still stole home. lol
  8. We can... but boy... I sure wish Kopech didn't opt-out. Sorry, I'm just as f'n pumped as you guys and totally believe in this team. However, somebody had to say it. lol. We could use one more solid starter. When Bummer is back, that's literally all we're missing. One more guy in the rotation. There's no guarantees about Kopech, but he's a damn talented guy and you have to think he would provide more stability than Rey Lopez/Gio Gonzalez/bullpen day. Not to mention, the ceiling is literally him being a top level starter.
  9. DISCLAIMER: This is, in no way, making a statement either for or against the protests. I think we all want to keep that stuff off of the general board. Looks like every team that did not engage in a protest (refusal to play) last night, has decided to do so today. The White Sox (off today and played early yesterday before the trend caught fire) have not yet had the opportunity to sit out a game in protest. The Royals were also off today and played their game last night vs STL. They also have yet to protest. Logic dictates that both clubs will take that opportunity tomorrow, no? I expect a PPD followed by a 7 inning doubleheader on Saturday.
  10. Oh, totally. But outings like these where he just totally loses his command. I think it's third time through the lineup - plus him fatiguing.
  11. Atlanta used to often pull him after 5ish innings pitched. I would be puzzled when he was throwing well. I sort of get it now. I don't know if it's a problem with the 3rd time through the order or if he just fatigues suddenly. But... every start he just cruises. Then, the 6th inning happens, and he's a totally different pitcher.
  12. Yeah, I would say it's more "This team and this season is bull sh*t. Therefore, I don't give a sh*t." energy.
  13. This team is an absolute pleasure to watch right now. Man, I am slobbering at how many wins we could potentially stack with our upcoming schedule. Really trying not to get my hopes up... but the way we've been playing and dominating poor competition. KC/DET/PIT is such cake (yes, I know, Minny in the middle).
  14. I literally screamed "NNNOOOOOO!!!!" when that ball left the bat. Phew
  15. We need to IL Moncada. He's clearly not right and it isn't getting better.
  16. I was about to say! Coop was just getting going! lol
  17. Yeah, you're right. You can't mess with Abreu. You keep doing whatever you're doing. 7 career games as a DH is a pretty small sample size for Grandal, though. If it was a left-handed starter? I might stick with EE. However, with a righty? I'm going Grandal. Especially with Grandal seemingly getting going and EE sort of stuck in place. We shall see. Neither way would shock me.
  18. I am assuming McCann will catch tomorrow (day game after night game). Seeing as Grandal is seeing the ball pretty well right now. Wouldn't you think we would sit down EE and DH Grandal? Maybe DH Abreu and Grandal at first? All I know is, I prefer Grandal in the lineup over EE, at the moment. Grandal is a groove hitter. When he's hitting the ball out of the park - you ride it.
  19. Ding, ding, ding! Winner. My least favorite part about this season is how fans are reading SO MUCH more into a small sample sizes. I actually had a recent conversation with White Sox fans (not on the forum) a few days ago saying the Grandal contract is already a failure. This is after him playing 18 games (played his 19th last night). lol. In no other season would you hear that. I was saying to them "I'm not even saying he'll workout. I'm simply saying you sound incredibly stupid right now for saying that based off of 18 games with no spring training." Yes, it's true, struggling over a short amount of time has a bigger impact in a 60 game season. HOWEVER, you do not adjust how you view that player or that sample size over the long-term because of it. We have still only played 27 games. You can't read more into it with players simply because "there's only 60 games this year". That's a logical fallacy.
  20. This. Platoon in RF and wait on EE. I will wait on EE for the entirety of a 60 game season if I have to. His entire career he has started in this fashion and always comes around. I realize one of these years, as he ages, he will not. It could be this year. However, we paid him to be our DH. He's a proven veteran guy. (Again, in just a two month season) You give him every single chance to be that. Even with his struggles, he still lifts one out of the ball park every 5-6 games. The way the rest of our lineup is seeing the ball (I assume Yoan will be with that crowd soon) it affords us the luxury of not freaking due to EE struggling. EE will finish with a low average, certainly. But not this low... and he's going to hit some HR's, while starting to walk more. That's fine.
  21. So, they're basically doing club dub like the Bears started when they got good with a young team in 2018. Great, this season is going to end with a walk-off home run against us in the playoffs that somehow double doinks off of the foul pole.
  22. I was going to make a thread sharing similar sentiments. We all love to b*tch and moan here a good deal. Either acting like the sky is falling or that it will never rise again. But I hope people can, at least, take a step back and try to enjoy how far we've come. This team should continue to be a fun for a good while. We've made it through the darkness. Clearly, not everything the FO does is entirely incompetent. We had nothing... and now we have this. SOMETHING right happened. Maybe it wasn't ALL right or "perfect". But the road traveled and decisions made got us smelling this beautiful fresh air of a contention window opening again. Now, on that note... I'll see you tomorrow night and we can all act like we never had this talk when Reynaldo Lopez gives up 6 ER over 1 1/3 ?
  23. First of all, you're using a sure-fire HOF catcher and a borderline HOF catcher as examples. No one is claiming Grandal is that. lol Second of all, if Alex Rodriguez can be sat down in the World Series and be dropped to 9th in the lineup when he did play. Anyone can. Third of all, it's flawed logic. As neither of those guys ever went into a massive slump heading into the post-season while a young 2nd catcher was setting the world ablaze. Fourth, you can go up and down fangraphs from last season. Offensively, defensively... Yasmani Grandal is #1 in a multitude of catcher categories (offense and defense) and top 3 in everything, if I recall. What is there to overrate? It's just... factual.
  24. It was ONE year. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/g/grandya01.shtml And I can perfectly explain it. Grandal was lost offensively in the 2nd half. While Austin Barnes went unconscious with an OPS just under .900 and Roberts rode the hot hand. Not rocket science. Austin Barnes has a 3.4 career WAR over 6 years. 2.4 of that came in a season where he only started for half of it and had 262 total PA's. In fact, it wasn't even a bad overall season for Grandal. He finished with a 2.4 WAR himself.
