Collins is going to be the primary backup C next year, and has some value traits (LHH, power, OBP) I wouldn't trade him.
-
Anderson prolly won't bat leadoff again lol
-
Don't blow this game dammit
-
I need to see a Madrigal BOMB* *And by Madrigal BOMB I mean a bloop single.
-
It should be Bummer not Colome. Ricky trying to lose.
-
Thanks, Ricky.
-
I think Moncada is super comfy at 2 I dont think he wants to move from there. I dont think Ricky will last too long in this job as expectations start to heat up. I'd like to see us add Joc next year for RF. If they accede to Robert's desire to leadoff, I could see something like this vs RHP. 1 Robert R 2 Moncada L 3 Vaughn R 4 Jimenez R 5 Pederson L 6 Anderson R 7 Grandal L 8 Abreu R 9 Madrigal R This lineup would wreck worlds.
-
I wouldn't be surprised if Madrigal ends up leadoff long term, especially if hes a 300/360/410 guy. Robert has too much power and will prolly not have enough OBP for the role and Anderson likely won't be able to sustain such a high average such that he can get to 350 OBP with only a 2 percent walk rate.
-
I think Ron actually likes Abreu. Its just that he likes getting under people's skin even more.
-
I'm assuming we are facing a lefty? This is pretty good though, I like Eloy and Robert moving up. Ultimately, it should be Robert, Eloy,Grandal at 3-4-5.
-
Adding Madrigal and Mazara should make a big difference in the offense. There is zero excuse not to take 2 of 3 against KC.
-
Lmao
-
I hear you but since this is not a normal year with normal minor league games, so its harder to hide the clubs true intent so they have to be extra cautious in how they handle it. I too would prefer him to be in KC tomorrow cause I'm sick of Leury and Mendick at 2B but if they can't take 2 of 3 from KC because of a lack of Madrigal then we have alot bigger problems than any of this kind of stuff.
-
Not necessarily. Counsel for the player could easily argue its distinguishable from Bryant since the Bryant case still involved actual minor league games as opposed to just taxi squad practices. Actual games against a variety of different opponents and pitchers is much more specifically tailored for real, legitimate player development than not even playing actual games and doing just drills and BP against the same small set of guys, which wouldn't even involve scouting reports and the same type of film study and preparation as the real thing. Thats why the Sox need to wait a "decent interval" after the point when the extra year was obtained to try and proactively defang an argument like this, so that they can make it look like the demotion wasn't just a pretext for service time (even though it plainly is). I also would expect, if it got to an actual arbitration, for the Sox to point out that the Sox were struggling at 2-4 and in need of a major upgrade at 2nd, particularly defensively, given Garcia's errors, and yet still kept Madrigal down for another 3 games which would actually translate to almost 10 games in a normal season. That could also be persuasive evidence of a legitimate desire for player development.
-
They're trying to foreclose a service time grievance by saying "if it was really about service time, he would have been up at the first opportunity, especially since we were 2-4 at the time." Basically they have to wait a decent interval after the moment they get the additional year so as to have some cover. I assume same is true for Dunning so we will have to wait another series for him too.
-
Now give him some run support.
-
At this point move the kids up. The vets, Grandal and Encarnacion aren't cutting it at 4 and 5. There have to be consequences. Move Eloy up to 4 and Robert to 5.
-
We cannot "pay him fair" at this point. We already invested 73m into Grandal, we cant be allocating two significant salaries to the same spot. And no, its not a sunk cost either. If RH tells JR to reopen the wallet at C one year after doing a 4/73, RH knows it will be his job that is similarly sunk. They made a decision and thats that. Hopefully YG turns it around but they are tied to him either way. Giolito needs to learn to be comfortable with him. He'll be here for a long time no matter what.

Yep, McCann should be DH and EE at 1st.
-
Except that the bullpen has been used extensively already and really could use a day where the starter goes 8.

I like Collins but perhaps this is why Hostetler was "promoted" -

On MLBN they showed Rodon in the dugout somewhat unhinged. -

Well there's the meltdown in the dugout that someone predicted.
