  1. Very nice. Montgomery, Quero and Ramos all having good games in Charlotte also so far.
  2. That's pretty pathetic to do that to kids who were probably really excited about the event.
  3. IMO depends on what other pieces were involved. Remember even though what we got was light, there were still two other guys in there which according to some in the scouting community have decent upside. I agree that Keaschall is prolly more valuable than Vargas as a headliner, but MIN would need to still add pieces. Keep in mind also Getz was prolly freaking out trying to add MLB ready bats for the 2025 team because they sure as hell aren't gonna sign like 4-5 FA bats with money so they needed to get someone ready to hit for 2025 on the cheap. They'll prolly hope that by next spring Montgomery has figured things out (or his back issue is better), start him at SS, Ramos at 3B, Quero at C along with Lee, Vaughn at 1B, Vargas in LF, and maybe get some real good prospects for CF/RF/2B in the offseason trades and/or sign a short term major leaguer as a bridge for those roles. If Robert hasn't established more value, he will start at CF again obviously.
  4. Hopefully Chicago. We need at least a pair of Top 100 bats plus another decent prospect.
  5. We really should have taken one of the various bats in the draft. Dammit.
  6. Well the extension demand was certainly part of it but we also got reports from some of our people here saying the Sox insisted that anyone wanting to trade for him also take Beni's contract too and obviously no one was going to give up good prospects plus pay Crochet plus also eat Beni's money too. That was never going to happen. At most, a very rich team might be willing to give Crochet a long term but team friendly deal and maybe pay most of Beni's remaining money too too but they prolly wouldn't offer anything prospect wise and it would be a Chernobyl level nuclear catastrophe if the bat starved Sox basically gave away an elite LH SP for just salary relief. The only thing that will change between now and the offseason is the extension demand. Crochet's agents will no longer have October as leverage and so the offers presumably should be more robust with that problem removed, so long as we aren't dumb enough to insist on Beni being attached again.
  7. That's a reasonable ask....and if they were all bats, it would have gone a long way to helping the barren wasteland of our position prospect depth. Alas, it will have to wait till the offseason when the player agent will no longer have leverage. Ofcourse, if the club is gonna insist on someone eating Beni's entire deal as part of the Crochet trade, then we'll be lucky to get a single Top 10 prospect back in a given team's system.
  8. That video was pretty classless. Eloy was full of joy and seemed like a genuinely decent and nice fun loving guy. I dont blame him for being injury prone....some people just are. I do blame him for not getting himself into shape and not putting in the work necessary to get some loft into his swing. I wish him well in BAL and I wouldn't be shocked if they unlocked his raw power.
  9. D. Mozeliak and the Cardinals wiped their dick right across Getz face right in plain view of both Getz girl and also Harold, so it was probably very humiliating for Getz to have that happen in front of his peeps and he probably hasnt been able to make eye contact with either of them since then, but the Banks trade was good. The Eloy trade doesn't really move the needle either way because the savings are unlikely to be reinvested into the team. They should have been able to move Brebbia for a useful asset. If you're looking for reasons it wasn't an F, at least they resisted the temptation to move Robert for pennies on the dollar and if you're looking for reasons it wasn't Chernobyl, at least no other team took the bait of packaging Crochet with Benintendi. That would have been a disaster of biblical proportions. In the final analysis: f*** this team. As Walter Cronkite used to say, "and that's the way it was on Tuesday, July 30th, 2024."
  10. Thank God a trade didn't occur.
  11. How? If you lose the grievance then just the status quo remains (2 years control) right? Are there any financial penalties for a finding of bad faith?
  12. I hear Charlotte has beautiful summers.
  13. If there weren't mega offers then it makes sense.
  14. That's fine. I'd rather they wait till the offseason if people are balking at giving a haul PLUS a financial commitment to Crochet. Chicago needs to get back multiple good bats in this deal.
  15. The issue isn't what fans think, the issue is what future employers think since JR is almost 90 and the odds are Getz won't be able to cash checks from this organization for much longer either way and it's not like he's made a ton of money in his career either. He has to continue to work in baseball and dude can't be seen as a total clown.
  16. https://x.com/HotStoveintel/status/1818271840130798004?ref_src=twsrc^google|twcamp^serp|twgr^tweet GOOD. It's either a HR or no deal.
  17. SD needs to pull Merrill off the major league squad to make a deal. Snelling and De Vries is lame.
  18. De Paula PLUS Freeland PLUS Ferris PLUS Pages. Getz needs to make up for yesterday's s%*# show. Our payroll next year even with Beni is tiny.
  19. Actually the Braves makes no sense and the Dodgers don't either unless it's for De Paula, Freeland, Ferris and Pages.
