More negotiating thru the media. Fans don't want Stroman and Hal doesn't want to pay 200m for a 31 year old Snell after they just got burned by Rodon. Jones, Hampton and one more piece in the Top 10-15 area of their system.
-
Lol @ your proposal. That isn't even in the same zip code as Cease. Seems both FOs both value Cowser over Kjerstad even though both fanbases seem to have it the other way around.
-
That's actually much better reasoning than "Cease isn't worth more than a back end Top 100 in terms of value" It's true that we're not allowed to have nice things and this organization just seems to have a losers DNA.
-
Dammit....if Busch came cheap there's no excuse not to get him even if he's a 1B.
-
JR feels he knows best and/or loves to meddle. Theoretically, if you could build a consistent winner with 70m payrolls he should LOVE that, but he's a baseball dinosaur and can't resist controlling things.

Luis Robert hires Scott Boras as agent
SoCalChiSox replied to Buehrle>Wood's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Good move for him because the initial 50m was probably taken up by "handlers" and the current 88m deal is way below market so he needs to get paid on the next one. -
Lol @ Cashman thinking this Stroman thing will scare us. Their fanbase hates him, he hates them. They will go together like peanut butter and WD40. Go ahead and sign him NY.
-
I'm stunned BOS or SFG couldn't exceed that.
-
I dont think Hal Steinbrenner wants to shell out 200 million for a 31 year old pitcher whose BABIP and LOB% suggest regression is coming and after they just got burned bad by Rodon. I'm not seeing it. Hal cares about money and there's real risk there. Get your cheap 2 years for 25m for Cease, and a draft pick on top. Jones, Hampton, Lalane and Vivas.
-
Weren't we also told he was a more valuable prospect than Noah Schultz? Lulz
-
If it were that simple don't you think Rosenthal would qualify it by saying something like "some league executives believe Chicago will get a massive haul, while others believe a more realistic expectation is X" so he doesn't have egg on his face if it turns out that going out on a limb was a bad idea?
-
Getz comment that "all it takes is..." seems designed to get Cashman to close the deal.
-
It's not news per se but right now it's clear Getz is playing the two AL East foes against each other to get each to increase its offer. The old Nixon "triangular diplomacy"
-
Agreed. They need a LHP in the rotation too since I don't think Shuster will be in the top 5 and apparently 2/28 was somehow too much for Manaea.
-
Sox writer speculates package will need to be Jones and Hampton https://www.soxon35th.com/report-yankees-ready-to-make-a-trade-for-cease/
-
IMO....they will be forced to sign one of the big two and cave in to Boras to quell fan demand which is fine with me. IMO it would prolly be Snell cause Montgomery wants to be in TEX.
-
NYY fans NERVOUS.....haha I love it. IMO if he has 70-75 game power he should still be able to get to a good part of it with 45 hit. 30-40 HRs is a reasonable expectation and solid D in RF with some wheels too is very good as a headliner. Get Hampton or Warren as the 2nd piece and we will be in good shape.
-
What do people prefer if these were the competing offers: NYY: Jones, Hampton/Warren, Lombard/Lalane BAL: Cowser/Kjerstad, Ortiz/Norby, Povich I have my doubts Elias will actually sack up. I'd be very happy with a NYY deal centered around Jones and one of their best pitchers.

2023-24 NFL Season Thread
SoCalChiSox replied to CentralChamps21's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Hopefully Denver can get a good QB in the draft. -
Wouldn't that take them out of Snell tho?
-
No to proposed Mets trade
-
Now that he's signed does this warm up the market for Eloy? I'm not expecting much but something is better than nothing.
-
There have been conflicting reports on the Reds thing. Lowder, Petty, Arroyo, Phillips plus someone else is certainly excessive. But the other report....Lowder, Petty, Jorge and Stafura....thats actually pretty reasonable.

Mets In Agreement On Two-Year Deal With Sean Manaea

Good move for NYM -
2 Top 100 plus two others is very reasonable...thats pretty much the framework we've been working off (ie Cowser/Kjerstad, Ortiz/Norby, Povich, lotto ticket). I'm fine with the 4th piece being a lotto ticket so long as the 3rd piece is a solid prospect. Certainly should not take less than that.
