  1. If Manaea opts out, they'll sign him on a buy low deal since they wanted him before. They can prolly get 2 3/4 SPs on 1-2 year deals at somewhere between 10-14m each per year. If they keep Cease, add those 2, Kopech at 4 and then Nastrini or Bush at 5 (or Toussaint), they may go with that.
  2. Tyler Black might be a future White Sox in a few days.
  3. IMO, Schultz should be in High A already and I wouldn't be shocked if he was in AA by early next season.
  4. He should get that chance. Maybe he could go to AAA for the rest of the year, work on a third pitch down there and try to stretch him out a bit as a starter down there. There's not alot of innings left but at least it's something.
  5. When is Wolkow going to get some ACL ABs?
  6. Only if there's real value in return. Now that he's turning it around, we can't give him away for free.
  7. Nightengale suggesting we are gonna spend some money in the offseason after unloading these salaries. Maybe the total payroll cut won't be too deep?
  8. Yep and that dude will do whatever he's told to do in order to string out his gig as long as possible and keep cashing big checks.
  9. Is that from before the season tho or do they update it? He's had a rough year but was great last year.
  10. Because he still has an 80 grade silver tongue so his job is now basically glorified White House press secretary role for MLB club while Trader Kenny is working in the background.
  11. Good job getting another potential 4 with alot of upside and a BP piece to help backfill in 2024 the 3 that left. Maybe get another good BP piece for Yaz. Now send Burger to MIL for Tyler Black & Robert Gasser.
  12. Nightengale said he is hearing SD will move Snell and Hader. It was smart to act fast before the rug got pulled out from under us.
  13. I have zero issue with that. We all agree they should have been fired long ago. But since JR is apparently unwilling to dump them in mid-season (or maybe ever) and install a legit FO, the only other alternative to letting either KW or RH move the expiring assets is to let the expiring assets simply expire and that's no alternative at all when there's a consensus Top 100 prospect on the table plus another solid piece.
  14. I agree that it would be more ideal if they had re-signed Giolito as opposed to haggling over 50k and blackballing him for being the union rep but that's JR for you and we know JR doesn't give big money to pitchers and this organization has a losers DNA and therefore will always be penny wise and pound foolish. Be that as it may, at this point there's universal agreement the rebuild failed and we needed to get some real value for these expiring assets and IMO we did that. If you're upset about the return here we had a poster openly advocating shipping Giolito AND Santos off to CIN for Jonathan fucking India.
  15. What would have been your contingency plan to get a good return for Gio once SD and NYM dumped their superior pitchers on the market and Moreno blew his wad on someone else? Where would we extract leverage from at that point in your view?
  16. Keep in mind the NYM are just about dead and SD just lost 2 of 3 at home to PIT. If both clubs end up dumping their SPs on the market, the return for Giolito almost assuredly would have been worse. In addition, Arte Moreno was obviously in desperation mode and willing to make a clear and early statement to Ohtani go show him they are willing to bend over backwards to try and win, after they prematurely announced Ohtani was off market, he was going to empty his bullets early one way or another and the only issue would be which club would take advantage of that. I think striking while the iron was hot on that front also made sense for us. I don't see other owners out there with a similar level of extreme desperation. Most analysts think we did quite well for rentals. I despise this FO just as much as anyone but it's tough to complain about this return. If Snell, Scherzer, Verlander, Stroman etc got dumped into this SP market, we'd be up s%*# creek without a paddle. And we addressed two immediate needs at once. The FO is comprised with overly smug, and grossly incompetent losers but what's fair is fair you have to give them their due here.
  17. Thanks for everything, Lucas. I wish you well on your playoff chase with LAA and your big contract, you deserve it.
  18. They can't afford to do that with as many holes they have in the rotation and with a more limited payroll. They need him to be in the lower half of the rotation at some point in 24. They need one more close to MLB pitching prospect.
  19. Eh...its hard to complain about getting a 55 and a 50. Switch hitting C with more power from left side and who should stick and a LHP who should be in rotation is much needed shot in the arm.
  20. That suggests it's a sellers market for sure I wonder what they can get for Burger?
  21. MLB has Quero as a 55 and Busch as 50....solid return. I wonder what LAD final offer was.....evidently it was less than that. They addressed two big needs at once so I'll give them props for that. Hopefully Quero can be a LHS and stick behind the plate and Busch can be a good 3/4 for us in the rotation. Need another SP prospect from Lynn
