7/6- White Sox vs Blue Jays, Gm 1, 4:10
SoCalChiSox replied to flavum's topic in 2023 Season in Review
The disgruntled player remaining in the clubhouse doesn't really hurt the team that much because the team is already trash so who cares? I'd rather see if he can have a strong second half so we can get something in the offseason. We have so few tradeable assets we can't afford to sell superlow on anyone. -

Problem is you can't sell when he has no value. He has to fight thru this rut in order to establish value for a trade. Not selling for 10 cents on the dollar. 70 cents maybe...10 no. -

Sell high now if there's a buyer with a solid offer. I don't want a bad start later to ruin it. -
If we could get Teel that would be great. Need an impact C.

Trading One Year Assets is Inevitable. Maybe even 2-yr

Good. Get all the value you can get. Move them all. Then hope TA has a good second half so you can get something valuable for him in the offseason. -
I'm going to be pissed if he's just a league avg 3B. Corey Seager is his FLOOR. Nothing other than savagery will be accepted.

Montgomery the savage 2-2 with a double so far.

That's ok....we won't be competing next year anyway. Biggest issue is TA has little value. Before the season, we could have gotten Rushing plus a solid SP prospect for TA plus maybe one other piece (value wise). Now TA has no value, Hendriks can't be moved cause he is out and not back to being a closer anyway and Giolito alone for half a season won't be anywhere near enough for just Rushing alone. -

Get Rushing from the Dodgers. Left handed catcher with real pop and will likely stick at the position. -
Nightengale has sort of suggested that FO and managers heads will roll, but ofcourse that doesn't do much to solve the biggest issue which is JR.

Yeah.....I would put Burger back at 3B and Moncada at 2B. I realize Moncada wasn't comfortable at 2B earlier in his career but he's a better all around option there then the rest of the black hole at 2B and this is the only realistic way Jimenez and Burger can be in the lineup everyday particularly after Colas is back up. This team isn't going anywhere anyway so who cares if Burger is a butcher at 3B? Just let him play everyday, slug some HRs and it is what it is defensively. And if Moncada is unhappy he is moved to 2B, well too damn bad. Dude's gotta hit to keep his preferred spot.

Also sell TA if you can get a haul for him. Especially to LAD. Get Rushing plus a near MLB ready SP prospect. The only possible "hire" that they will make is Getz....lulz.

Despite having an awful year, at least RH isn't in as bad a spot as AJ Preller... Absolutely massive budget with multiple legit stars and under .500...lulz.

And That's a White Sox Winner !

We should get some good prospects for Gio and Kelly -

You might not be worried about saving payroll but after paying above average payrolls for a fee years now with weaker than anticipated gate revenues and very little playoff TV money, Jerry's limited partners and Jerry himself are less than thrilled with the ROI so payroll is a legitimate issue and undoubtedly will need to be slashed significantly from their POV. -
Garfein: Tim Anderson hates pitch clock, not Chicago
SoCalChiSox replied to superchops70's topic in Pale Hose Talk
He will get a good deal (100m+) and he would be very valuable to LAD at the deadline. Maybe get a good pitching and catching prospect that's close to MLB ready. In fact, Rushing + Pepiot is basically almost equal value to TA (we would actually be getting a bit of extra value). Adding a LH slugging catcher with ability to stick behind the plate and good LH power along with a good pitching prospect...I'll do that right now, forget about July. -
When you have a very nice gig like that, with big paychecks each month, you never resign, unless you are getting something in exchange.

Yeah it seemed a little more honest than I expected. I was expecting more putting makeup on a pig and claiming it's a supermodel. Still, if there really is gonna be accountability it needs to happen and fast and the replacements can't be the same in house crap as usual.
