  1. I'm not sure Hendriks will necessarily miss most of the season. Obviously, the length of his recovery is somewhat uncertain but back in 1993, Mario Lemieux missed about 2 months of play undergoing treatment for the same disease. Obviously each person's timeline is different but if Hendriks started getting treatment already, maybe he won't be out too long. Best of luck to him. We will see. Hopefully he can get cancer free ASAP and anything else after that (baseball) is gravy.
  2. 84-85 wins seems somewhat optimistic if Hendriks and Clevinger are out of the equation.
  3. I'm glad Fegan gave them an F. This FO is ultra sensitive to media perception (too bad ownership isnt) and I'm glad a very well respected person is calling it like it is. You reap what you sow.
  4. I wasn't aware he learned how to: competently hit left handed (and with actual power), field well, avoid injury, and not be a moron running the bases all in one offseason. Must have put in alot of work in just 4 months.
  5. What about the Baseball Savant stats? Those are positive too.
  6. Actually this would be an excellent value signing. Despite his reputation as a bat first catcher who can't catch, last year he had positive defensive numbers (FG had him with positive defensive stats and baseball savant had him in the 79th percentile in pop time, framing was league average at 50). Xwoba was above average and xslug was well above average. He was a reverse splits hitter last year with 99 wrc+ vs RHP and only 64 vs LHP, which is fine for us. On a cheap deal this makes alot of sense. A catcher who is a league average hitter against RHP is great esp if his defensive improvements hold. We have literally nothing reliable at C this is a good bridge until when Yaz is off the books.
  7. Yeah that's why we need to throw something else in or involve a prospect rich 3rd team. Send TA to LAD, send a couple Top 100 LAD prospects to MIA (Busch and another top 100) and we prolly can also send them Sosa or Rodriguez plus a pitching prospects.
  8. Jazz is projected for slightly higher WAR than TA and he destroys RHP (wrc+ 158). He's also cost controlled for 4 years. This isn't a teardown. It's addressing multiple major needs at once (long term 2B and extreme savagery vs RHP) and TAs replacement should be ready in 24. It's just a better allocation of resources.
  9. If it's not TA, I would be ok if Vaughn was the main piece of a Jazz deal. I would prefer TA tho because we have Vaughn for 4 years but if push comes to shove and Miami wants Vaughn as the key piece I would do it. After all, LH 2B > RH 1B. We haven't exactly had a problem finding good RH 1B in the last 30+ years and unlike a savage LH 2B, good RH 1B more or less grow on trees.
  10. Point is TA is an expiring asset so we should get some value from him and some have suggested that he's persona non grata with the FO anyway.
  11. I dont know if he misjudged it this year. Tough to pull off a trade when your most sought after trade chip just got put on the shelf indefinitely on medical leave. The only thing they can do now is move Giolito and that will still be robbing Peter to pay Paul. Cant really move Crochet with Hendriks status up in the air. Colas and Montgomery are or should be untouchable. Obviously so is Robert and Jimenez. If you take all those guys off the table, theres not much that we have that other people want.
  12. No pain no gain. A savage LH 2B is sitting in Miami. It's just an issue of whether you want to pay what it takes to get him.
  13. It would have to be a 3 team trade sending TA to a prospect rich team, prospects from there to MIA, Jazz to CHW and we'd have to throw in something extra to balance it out since there's 4 cost controlled years of Jazz and only 2 for TA. Something like.... To LAD: TA To MIA: LAD prospects plus someone like Vera and either Sosa or Rodriguez To CHW: Jazz
  14. Yep that's the first thing I thought of also. Maybe intl cash plus some middling prospect to get rid of the salary.
  15. They did get his prime seasons, however it's unlikely they will get much if any surplus value since it's like 33.3m AAV, so just to break even he would have to average about 5.6m WAR every single year rain or shine just to break even and that assumes arthritis or something else doesn't wipe out any of those seasons.
  16. Prayers for Liam and his family. Get well soon buddy
  17. I dont trust the Rays anyway when they want to move someone.
  18. Ugh...forget it then. A young LH savage who can play SS is worth his weight in gold. He cannot be moved. Neither can Colas.
  19. Savage LH 2Bs are uncommon its true...Chisholm, Lowe, but maybe a close to MLB ready prospect like Busch or Mauricio if scouts are ok with their glove.
  20. Does this mean the trade market is finally going? If so, go get a LH savage 2B, RH. Do something already
