2nd Base I guess it’s going to be Sosa or Gonzalez?
SoCalChiSox replied to AJ'S Cousin's topic in Pale Hose Talk
But I thought RH said he was going to make a bunch of trades. If thats the case, we should be at least getting a platoon LH 2B to pair with the kids. -
Liam Hendriks coming up in trade discussions

Guillorme doesn't suck at all. Very good D and high obp vs RHP. But not for Hendriks straight up. Definitely for Kelly. -

Rumor: TLR will (NOT*) be present for ST *update

Yeah I don't buy that either. There would be an open revolt if he returned. They gave him a way to save face. That is all. -

They have to make it appear he wasn't fired because he's JRs boy. So he had a retirement from active managing for health reasons. And he's still a welcome presence at camp. And a "trusted advisor" And on the payroll. This is just for the old man and a dog and pony show. No need to get upset about it. McNamara was given the World Bank presidency so he wouldn't lose face. Maybe TLR just likes to be around baseball watching ST. It's a small price to pay to ensure he's no longer messing stuff up. -

I'd rather have a long term controllable pieces. I hope the Correa thing with NYM falls apart so Cohen will need to make another splash PR wise to save face. We could nab Mauricio as the headline piece who could end up at SS/2B/3B and has a great arm plus very good power esp from the left side. Between him and Montgomery, we'd be in a strong position to eventually deal Moncada and Anderson to keep replenishing talent with young cost controlled savages waiting to replace them. We can probably also add a good secondary piece in a useful MLB player like Guillorme who can help right now or maybe a young pitching prospect since we will need more arms soon. -
They still need to make a couple moves just to win the division, IMO. Cleveland is a much better run organization and for as cheap as we are, they can actually make do on an even tighter budget just fine. We just waste money on clowns and crap. They need to get maximum value ASAP from one of Hendriks, Giolito or Anderson to kind of reload the cupboard. Chicago isn't a bad team, but I wouldn't exactly automatically pencil them in to win the division, without doing more, even if they end up much healthier than last year.

Might as well throw 10 million into a fireplace. -

Why not? Did they suddenly lose all those catchers? -

The trade value for Hendriks and Mauricio is almost identical BTW. I think we will want a premium, so maybe that's why we are asking for Mauricio + if you believe the rumor. If they threw in Guillorme that would be great for immediate help in 2023. -

Mauricio has good power from left side too. If the Sox could snag him it would be great. They'd have two savage replacements lined up for Moncada and Anderson in Montgomery and Mauricio. If Hendriks market is hot, it's not an unreasonable ask. -

Yeah it better be totally false because it would be beyond horrible. I think even one of the foodie accounts said it was BS. -

Because we're a fucking cheapskate mickey mouse operation down to the penny and there are absolutely no free lunches (10D) insofar as JR concerned, esp when the FO pushed his boy out. Other than that, there are no reasons for trading LH for salary relief. -

Yep .....more than likely. That Lion in Texas guy says Angels are also in on LH. -

Ahh...I forgot it was Levine. I thought that payroll report thing was by some reputable writer. You're right if it's Bruce then it was just a negotiation plant to make teams think that we were "fine" payroll wise when in reality JR probably threw a shoe at RHs head after the 10D signing and said "I said a hard payroll of 180M and you just made another signing ya shmuck!" -

I know but the optics of the Sox trading LH for salary relief and allowing in the same transaction an ALC rival to get a young left handed savage is a non starter. They couldn't show their faces in public after that not that they can now anyway. -

Yep between this report and Pal saying it's basically just a salary dump this is really bad. I guess they have to pay the piper on the 10D signing after all. At least get something halfway decent out of it and by halfway decent I don't mean McCann. LH for Guillorme. You get a useful cheap high OBP vs RHP LH bat with legit great D at 2B and you get JRs prized "salary relief" It's NOT a good deal at all in the abstract BUT its better than the crap that writer was talking about. I find it hard to believe they have this robust market for LH and yet they would be forced to accept an inferior offer just so long as it included salary relief. How bout trade LH for legit return and move Kelly for salary relief. Yes, it's doubly bad for the BP but at least we aren't giving away a stud closer for free. FML -

Well if it's for salary relief why the heck is McCann being included in these discussions? That eliminates the salary relief right there. -

Ugh please tell me it's not just a pure salary dump? I thought JR OK'd 10D signing without a corresponding salary dump, wtf? If they need salary relief send off Kelly or someone not as valuable. LH should fetch a real return that meaningfully addresses needs. This organization is such garbage. -

McNeil and McCann for LH makes sense. NYM need to throw in a little bit of cash for JM 2024 salary. -

It seems they might be able to do better than that just for Kelly at this point. -

It sucks because the deal involves trading LH in a transaction involving Baty but the Sox aren't ending up with Baty.
