Yeah there's no way in hell they are going to let him hit that and between limiting SPs innings in the first month, and having like a 6 man rotation he shouldn't he able to hit that 160 number. Dude is going to get shellacked too so he will be out of there after a couple innings just on the merits a bunch of times too

The best part is the AAV for that OF would be like 13.5m in total combined for a few years. Three positions filled with good offensive and defensive players and basically no money would be so huge, esp since we aren't going to go into the tax.
-
I think if both Cespedes and Colas can both play at an MLB level that will really help us free up cash for extending the window. That would actually be an elite defensive OF too. You could also then slide Eloy to DH and keep him out of the field entirely with Vaughn at first. It's just an issue of whether we only need this 1 yr bridge or if it will take longer
-
That would be too much for 1 year of Manaea, IMO.

SoCalChiSox replied to Balta1701's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Yep. If they add Manaea, I would expect DK to be a hybrid SP/BP guy to also help keep his innings below the vesting threshold. -
I dont feel good about that for 1 year of a pitcher but yes I agree he is likely gone since they don't want to risk Vaughn in the field anymore. Just sucks we are losing a promising LH bat who will prolly rake with OAK but whatever, I see the numbers crunch at DH and they are just trying to short term bandaid SP and RF until they get to the offseason and can clear a couple big salaries off the books with DK and maybe JA (based on the latter's recent comments).

Boom. Ron bringing his A game today.
-
So we saved 6m, 5m of which can be used for the buyout next year if they feel Colas is ready. I wish Pollock was left handed but whatever, it's already well established that we hate LH savages and apparently enjoy getting killed by RHP. At least it's a quality player when healthy. What does this mean for Vaughn? Keep in minors awhile to get year of service time and then DH? At least Kimbrel is off the roster.

Merkin attempts to clean up TLR comments
SoCalChiSox replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
What does that last part even mean? Just shut the fuck up old man. Go scream at the clouds or tell kids to get off your lawn. You have no fucking clue about modern baseball and have zero tact. It's bad enough you are fucking up what little money we have to spend on your unhealthy obsession with relievers. Can u at least not be a walking PR nightmare? -
Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud
SoCalChiSox replied to CentralChamps21's topic in Pale Hose Talk
RH/KW made it abundantly clear at the outset that they didn't want him and that he was shoved down their throat. They were right to oppose him but once he won out anyway, I'm not surprised he throws shade their way when he can. -

I'm surprised Merkin didnt airbrush the quote to make it sound better, since he's one of the key organs of Pravda on 35th. Dude needs to step up his state media game -

Lol...TLR can't make up his mind. First it's anyone who doesn't like what we have in RF isn't a fan and now it's I know we have chicken shit instead of chicken salad but somehow we'll deal with it the best we can. Sounds like he's not a real fan to me. I will give him credit for having the unique ability to create endless PR crises for the FO. Nice work, JR. You really know how to pick em. -

Is there anything at least semi positive for us to look forward to in the near term in terms of MLB transactions? Or is Hahn content to put his dick into a blender and let the chips fall where they may whenever the start button gets pushed? -

Yeah that's a terrible sign that they are panicking and going to give up a big asset. Just spend some fucking money you clowns. -

This team just hates left handed savages. It's mystifying and bizarre. There's always excuses as to why we can't get one. First It's we don't need one. And then when we get exposed it's suddenly a priority. And then when we still can't get one there's excuse making like the prices are too high right now or whatever. Yeah, I think we really need Colas to develop and later on, Montgomery and Kath, otherwise we can forget about a LH savage. Hopefully Sheets keeps hitting RHP well as DH. -

I wouldn't be shocked if by the deadline, Yolbert is the 2B. -

Ofcourse no one is going to offer anything for him at 16m. At this point, someone might bite if we ate half the money, but there still would be no real return and an extra 8m to play with won't really address any of the core needs. Maybe it would have opened up room for the 1 yr/6m Joc deal when he was out there but that's about it. Sounds like they will just have to hope he rebuilds his value during the season and other relievers get hurt. Settling for their 4th choice at 2B is comically bad but very much in line with this franchise's seemingly endless ability to step on their own dicks. Miller would have been nice but I understand they probably didn't want to give out a 2 year deal to a short term bridge/bandaid. And I agree with Jimmy that we need to keep Sheets at DH right now due to the lack of balance. Ofcourse, this means the very few trade chips we have for a SP gets even thinner. They are caught in a tight spot where one problem exacerbates another and there's really no good options unless u really want to clean out whatever is left of the high end of the prospect system and that would be bad for the future. -

Hahn has a comfy job. He got his wings clipped by JR for reasons unknown (Harold implied awhile back something happened but didn't tell us what) but he's still cashing checks and prolly has very good job security (even if TLR stole his juice) since this will likely be 3 playoff appearances in a row and they seem to like how he performs in PR settings especially when he uses thoughtful and lawyerly words to make stupid decisions sound like they were thought out and well considered when we know it's just either one guy being cheap or another dude thinking its 1990. He does have to take the arrows in the media for TLRs stupid decisions and JRs cheapness but in the big picture it's a small price to pay for a gig and paycheck like that. -

For a second there I was getting excited when I read Stone's note but now I think your post more accurately sums up the dynamics of what is really going on. There is still likely no intent to meaningfully add before the season but they had Stone put that out there to encourage fans as a way of making up for TLR's tone deaf fuck up. "They're still hard at work burning the midnight oil guys....now something may not materialize until the deadline or even till next year but they are working to make it better.....no really!" -
This is promising. Maybe like someone noted they are opening up 40 man slots for an imminent move.

OF Help at last!! White Sox acquire Haseley from Phils
SoCalChiSox replied to KrankinSox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Meadows is worth 11.1m in surplus value according to that mlbtrade site. It would be tough to get him looking at what we have in the minors if you assume guys like Colas, Vera, Montgomery and Kath are untouchable. Kimbrel has -1 value so even if you added 6m, it's nowhere near enough and TB wants a low payroll. -
