  1. I thought someone said they heard the guy was referring to Bellinger? Which is it?
  2. That would be beyond incredible. IDGAF if we have to eat the whole Kimbrel salary.
  3. West Coast team? Well it won't be OAK. It's prolly not LAD (Lux would be so awesome), I doubt SD wants to blow their remaining cash on him, maybe SF or SEA?
  4. Yeah but now they have to save face and get something to show it wasn't a complete loss. Ofcourse, if the plan is to just keep the savings and not spend it, id rather keep Kimbrel here even if he sucks, just to spite ownership and the FO. I honestly cannot believe they are going to go into the season with the 1B clown show and Man of Glass in RF. I just am struggling to believe this is the plan. Even Joc would have been much better than this plan. I just have to assume that if they aren't going to meet Confortos demands, then a short term trade option is the plan, possibly with the prospects from the Kimbrel trade.
  5. Jimmy's giving us hope now lol Rollercoaster time
  6. And you'll watch a third straight first round exit at this rate. I'm not jumping off any ledges. I'm just frustrated and bewildered at an inability to address basic needs...even cheaply!
  7. They have nothing in RF. Nothing. Nothing. Nothing Nothing (bold for emphasis). A guy who gets OBP and power from the left side against RHP for the same money we gave a scrub utility IF masquerading as a starting 2B is at least a bandaid. But no....instead we have nothing.
  8. Respectfully, I think that's disingenuous. No one wanted him as their top choice. But when Schwarber, Rosario went off and Pal said they are not budging on Conforto, I think most people wanted to make the best of the situation and at least get some kind of halfway decent corner LF bat for a year until we see what happens with Colas. Now we can't even do that. Not even a bandaid.
  9. Yep this is 100000% indefensible. You either sign the savage or have some kind of at least half assed backup plan. Playing two 1Bs in RF isn't a backup plan. It's trash
  10. That is dirt cheap. Like literally Harrisons money. I know he has his flaws but for real if you aren't going to make a serious offer for any of the legit LH savages on the market, you should at least have a decent contingency plan. They've got nothing new against RHP. Not Miller, not Joc, not Rosario, not even Tony friggin Kemp. They are up shit creek without a paddle.
  11. Does this mean they are going to circle back to Conforto now that they are backed into a corner or does this mean you just would have rather had the clown 1B platoon in RF?
  12. I thought someone said the Kimbrel thing was irrelevant...like even if they moved him they weren't gonna use the savings to make another big signing.
  13. Pal said we are unwilling to go to 4 years. Meanwhile Plan B,C and D are now gone. The FO and good, thoughtful, realistic planning go together about as well as peanut butter and WD-40.
  14. That will be fun if they get both LH savages and we don't get shit. Lol
  15. Joc is gone. Assuming therefore we will go with the clown 1B platoon in RF now. LOL
  16. Opt out? Sure they will insist on that. 3 years? No. Schwarber got 4/80. Unproven Suzuki 5/85, Bryant 7/182. Boras is going to make sure his client gets a big payday which necessarily requires a minimum of 4 years plus the option to get out and get alot more if he plays well. If Chicago didn't like whatever 4 year deal that was proposed to them before, they sure as hell will not like what it will become now that Conforto is the last good true OF on the market in light of the other offers. There are still several teams that could use him. He's done as a serious realistic target for us. It's over.
  17. Exactly. They can't get rid of Vaughn now. A very good cost controlled 1B for 6 years (esp after they get last year back with a AAA stint) shouldn't be moved for a rental SP.
  18. PSA: So that we are all clear, notorious cheapskate Monfort is willing to pay 7/182, but JR is apparently unwilling to pay something like 4/88. Lulz
  19. I dont want to make excuses for RH but I suspect it's also important to keep in mind that he's gotten his wings clipped. I think awhile back Harold alluded to something that happened. And after that we see JR overruling him on TLR and then TLR being the main guy now he listens to. So RH has to deal with internal budgets set by JR and also he knows a piece of the pie needs to be set aside for TLRs reliever fetish, so that creates an additional strain on the available resources to address needs. He has made some dumb choices to be sure and everyone hates the condescending lawyer talk and seat at the table BS but when he was planning out the contention stage, and how the financial flexibility would be used I doubt he planned on having to deal with a rival power source (besides KW) thwarting his plans and JR siding with that rival.
  20. I think Ron actually likes Abreu quite a bit. It's just that he likes getting a rise out of people even more.
  21. 4 for something like 88 (I don't know what their AAV ask is) is definitely reasonable if there are no one sided opt outs. WTF is their problem? Do they think Michael Conforto is not going to get a 4 yr deal from someone? If they won't offer him a 4 yr deal, he's gone. He's absolutely 10000 percent gone. He will get that from someone for sure maybe even 5 years. They'll give relievers 3 years but a savage LH OF bat won't get 4?
