  1. Collins at DH then I assume. I get the sense this is all trade posturing.
  2. If there is no long term damage, why would he be a time bomb at DH?
  3. So were just gonna wallow in mediocrity then with scrub bats at both corner OF positions in the midst of the championship window?
  4. Yes and anything that avoids the shoulder/labrum is good. I dont want any long term issues from this injury.
  5. If its the pec ONLY and its August that's prolly the best we can reasonably expect. I would not expect a major trade if thays the case.
  6. We cant afford to be emotional here. There's a window here for most of the 2020s and there's no room for this type of stuff. 6 years vs 1 year. Its a simple cold calculus. Jose can be a team ambassador or something.
  7. Why? Jose is the one who is gonna have to get moved after the season if Eloy is healthy. You don't move 6 years of a great hitter in Vaughn when you can move 1 year instead.
  8. From what people have said, for the long term, pec would be much preferable to the shoulder so there are no lingering issues sapping power. His calling card is power. If thats gonna be a long term issue, then what's he here for? I've accepted hes done for the year. I am praying no shoulder/labrum issues in addition to the pec. Just keep it confined to the pec, let him come back next year and replace him with Gallo. Don't go cheap with Cespedes. NO!
  9. Just get Gallo already. Isn't he under contract for 2 years? Solves the power void issue and is a LH bat and a corner OF. Good bridge to Colas Eloy can play DH next year if he still has his power. Jose/Vaughn at 1B/DH this year. 2022 Vaughn/Eloy if he is 100 percent health and power wise. Just get it done. Might need to part with a couple young pitchers. It sucks but it is what it is.
  10. Some rumors of a torn pec. 3-9 mos. If its that and not the shoulder/labrum, will he at least fully recover from that with no lingering effects on his power?
  11. If its a labrum tear does that mean going forward his power output would be more limited?
  12. Whats the realistic best case scenario in terms of missed time if its just the shoulder and not pec?
  13. Its unlikely he can outlast aging curves beyond his current deal. And even if he is kept by JR for emotional reasons, that doesn't mean he will be getting consistent ABs....esp with Eloy and Vaughn in their primes.
  14. Very good. Once he comes in, he can spend 2022 in the minors, and start in LF in 2023. By that time, Vaughn will be at 1B and Eloy can be the DH. Plus a good LH bat with reported 55 hit and 60 power is great.
  15. Problem is even if its for a couple weeks usually Eloy takes awhile to get going after coming back from minor injuries.
  16. TLR says he likes having a switch hitter at 4. I agree that Moncada at 2 and Eloy at 4 makes the most sense though. But with TLR presumed lineup they can go RLRLR for the first five spots
  17. How does the math work though assuming Mendick is also on the roster? Pitchers- Giolito, Keuchel, Lynn, Cease, Rodon, Kopech, Lopez, Hendriks, Bummer, Heuer, Crochet, Marshall, plus 1 more BP spot (13) Position Players- Robert, Jimenez, Eaton, Moncada, Anderson, Madrigal, Abreu, Grandal, Vaughn, Engel, Lucroy, Garcia, Mendick, Collins (14) Thats 27...not 26. And even that assumes there is only 1 more BP spot. I get the feeling it may be more.
  18. Trade him for a lefty bat and no I don't care if there is no room in the lineup for one. Find room.
