  1. Price tag? So we are even pinching pennies in terms of a 7m OF vs a 10m OF? JR balking even at Joc's measly salary. Lulz
  2. Joc's batted ball data was pretty strong suggesting that the true culprit was bad luck. Im not saying the offspeed stuff isn't an issue but I think the luck is a bigger issue and by the time of the playoffs it started to turn as positive regression probably started kicking in. If he can hit 240/350/470 as a platoon RF I am perfectly fine with that.
  3. As others have said, its not really in Rick's hands anymore and so I cannot really blame him for this. He had a vision as to how this window would work and the principles that would govern it but JR has pretty much torched that. He's gonna have to fight TLR just to have a say in the decisions now, much less have any veto power.
  4. Zero chance of JR eating both those contracts Zero. There's no way he would have agreed to that.
  5. Ok so thats why Cishek said Joc is basically signed since the Gallo thing fell through.
  6. Law said league average starter. Having 6 years of control of that is valuable. This is a garbage trade and I don't even know yet which prospect they moved...I bet Stiever
  7. He's perfectly good for the other lefty spot to replace Rodon as the 4/5.
  8. Sound like Lynn plus Gallo if they can't get Joc to sign.
  9. The clinical phrase for what you are describing is the "Jack Parkman Effect"
  10. He's sticking his neck out tho a bit on the FA OF issue. Its hard to say accelerated discussions on that point and then nothing happens for 3-4 days hes gonna get attacked again.
  11. Sounds like Joc is close and maybe a bit further away might be a Lynn or Darvish trade but those are a bit murkier.
  12. We could prolly get both Joc and Schwarber for around 18m-19m combined in terms of 2021 payroll. That's alot of mega LH power for not a ton of money. If they can make the musical chairs game work in terms of LF/DH/1B with Eloy, Schwarber, Abreu and Vaughn, the lineup would be armed to the teeth.
  13. Logistically the only way to really make it work is stringing Vaughn out longer in the minors.
  14. Any idea when the FO may be able to finalize a Joc deal?
  15. He had an unlucky year. His batted ball data was very good...he should benefit from positive regression this year.
  16. Yep and if he's right I'm glad they are trying to finalize the deal now rather than get slow played and burned again. Just get it done so we can move on to other positions (SP) with some cost certainty as to what has been used up vs what is left budget wise
  17. Yeah and putting the extra fluff in there with the options and stuff to make it appear to be the top offer even though the guaranteed money was 50m short was just to give the team PR cover. In the end it was a blessing in disguise because Moncada looks awesome at 3B and his long term deal is a much better one for us than Machado's.
  18. I doubt that will be a factor if we have the top deal. They can afford to spend an extra 2-3m on Joc if they aren't gonna be swimming in the adult pool anyway. Seriously if they can't even win on a player who is like a 2 yr/20-22m player there's no point to anything anymore.
  19. Yeah thats the problem. Otherwise I'd be thrilled with Pederson and Schwarber in a division full of righties, but I don't think he will sign here since Vaughn could eventually significantly cut into his opportunities to rebuild his value and the agent isn't gonna want to mess with that.
  20. When do u think Joc will get signed? Is he just waiting for Springer first so that the rest of the market will then rush to him or is there a chance he signs early?
  21. This tells me something is close. I'd be very happy to have Joc here.
