  1. Nope but I like the menu. I think one (or both) of them started the Marquez rumor and it makes no sense. Rox have plenty of 1B types.
  2. Rox don't want Vaughn. They'll want arms and Kopech plus Cease won't get it done. This board should move on from talk of Marquez and think in terms of Darvish, Musgrove and Lynn.
  3. I think Bauer might be a real possibility. Hahn/JR aren't going to be an early movers until more visibility into 2021 revenue but I don't envision too many teams lining up to throw money at Bauer. Maybe Dodgers? I can see a 3yr./$80M type deal being the high end of the range. If not Bauer, we need to be honed in on Darvish in trade.
  4. Is that how you interpreted this thread? No one is suggesting moving him. If you want to talk about hypothetical trades for top-tier pitchers such as Woodward, you can be sure Eloy would be in the return discussion. Not to worry though because Brewers aren't moving Woodruff anymore than the WS moving Giolito.
  5. I prefer Burnes but its not either or. You don't get Woodruff for a deal headlined by Vaughn. Woodruff has the 2nd most surplus value among all pitchers after Bieber and this board would be outraged at the mere thought of parting with the player(s) it would take.
  6. I don't disagree. Just attempting to point out the likey costs associated with trading for a difference making pitcher. I would definitely target Darvish, especially if we want to hold on to Vaughn. The Brewers would likely insist on Vaughn because they need a 1B. They don't necessarily need Madrigal (have Hiura) but need offense in general. I would however move Vaughn as the lead piece in a deal for Burnes, although I can see no reason why the Brewers would consider trading him ubless they were blown away by the offer.
  7. Here are three pitching targets and anticipated trade costs. I don't know if any of these pitchers are available and am just guessing as to trade capital required. That said, my top target is Corbin Burnes and I would overpay for him. I believe he will be among the 2-3 best pitchers in the AL in 21/22 based on his pitch mix and improvements to his stuff as 2020 wore on. If you have seen him pitch, my guess is you agree. That said, Darvish would be a great addition and potentially, the least costly in player capital, especially if we take on Kimbrel's contract. I am assuming there would be competition from several other teams and hence what appears to be aggressive offers by WS. I would pull the trigger on either Burnes or Darvish if available. I don't think I would pony up for Marquez at this level but believe its reflective of what it would take.
  8. Seattles Kyle Lewis wins AL Rookie of Year. He was a unaninmous choice. Luis Robert came in 2nd.
  9. German Marquez has the 9th highest surplus value among ML starting pitchers (98M). Giolito is 6th at 122M. Shane Bieber is far and away the leader at 238M. For perspective, Cease SV=20, Keuchel SV=34, Madrigal=29, Vaughn=45 and Eloy=80. This is obviously a function of K value/yrs. of control vs. just performance (hence no Gerrit Cole among top 20).
  10. I like it but I'm guessing Archer might be done and the package for Marquuez might be a bit light.
  11. It feels like the collective mindset of the board is...lets trade for (fill in the name of a high-value stud) and we'll reluctantly trade Kopech, Cease, Vaughn and/or fillers (although we'd prefer not trading any of them).
  12. Why do you believe the Brewers would trade Woodruff and who are you proposing we send back?
  13. I doubt the above gets it done but before I offered such a rich package, I'd talk to Theo about Darvish. Cubs might need to shed payroll and in my opinion, Darvish is a better fit who might be had for Kopech or Cease plus filler (even less if Cubs took on Kimbrel).
  14. I've said this before in Offseason Targets thread but WS don't get Marquez for a Cease headlined package. Nor do we get Marquez for a Vaughn led package (Rox not likely to be interested in Vaughn given minor league depth at 1B). If you want to keep the players who this board is emotionally attached to out of any potential deal, Marquez is likely out of reach.
  15. Whether Portillos Hamburgers is legit or not, Darvish is the right target. I'm guessing if the Cubs decide to shop him, it means they are cutting payroll and there will be other teams in the mix. Our chances improve if we can take on another contract, like Kimbrels.
  16. Gold glove CF and 3 Silver sluggers (1 MVP) in addition to Grandal, Moncada and Madrigal is a strong nucleus. Leury, Mendick and Engle are plug and play pros. 2021 and beyond is all about pitching. The BP looks strong although closer in question but options abound. Challenge is finding a difference maker to add to rotation. I believe this must be solved for through trade and would look North to Cubs/Darvish or Brewers/Burnes. Neither will come cheap but you don't get if you don't ask.
  17. This. Without visibility into revenue outlook, seriously doubt we'll see aggressive spending. That's why I'd be surprised if Stroman declines the QO.
  18. Like Molina but would rather resign McCann for less $$$.
  19. On the assumption the Cubs will reduce payroll and the WS have room, Darvish (3/$20M) could be available...especially if we took on Kimbrel (1/16M). Maybe add Happ to the mix and we solve for several needs in one stop. Guessing the return package would start with Cease but shouldn't be too rich due to Cubs shedding $40+M in 2021 payroll. Maybe something like Cease, Collins and Stiever?
  20. Luis Robert wins Gold Glove. First of many.
  21. I understand the reluctance to contemplate trading any core assets but we are kidding ourselves if we think guys like Woodruff or even Marquez can be had without parting with at least one of our key pieces. We can possibly lower our sites a bit and target Darvish or Musgrove and avoid giving up Vaughn but the idea that we can attract Marquez or Woodruff (neither of whom are thought of as remotely available) w/o parting with more than one of our big guns is fantasy.
