  1. Realistic and productive offseason: 1) trade a package of prospects for Lance Lynn (1 yr left at $9.3M) 2) trade ReyLo plus prospects for Tauchman (NYY LH OF) 3) sign Quintana 4) re-sign Colome Create playing time for Vaughn, Collins Dump K's of EE, GG, Rodon, Cishek
  2. Hinch Bio...most recently the manager of the Houston Astros of Major League Baseball (MLB) from 2015 to 2019, winning the World Series in 2017. Before joining the Astros, Hinch played catcher for the Oakland Athletics (1998–2000), Kansas City Royals (2001–2002), Detroit Tigers (2003), and Philadelphia Phillies (2004), managed the Arizona Diamondbacks (from May 2009 to July 2010), and was vice president of professional scouting for the San Diego Padres (from September 2010 to August 2014). Hinch has a degree in psychology from Stanford University. Tons of experience. Love that he ran scouting for the Padres and degree in psychology from Stanford. Don't know if he speaks Spanish.
  3. Guessing Realmuto will command more than the $18M paid to Grandal. If we want to bolster C'ing in 21 and beyond, just resign McCann.
  4. I've mentioned Mike Tauchman of the Yankees here before. LH hitting OF (can play all 3 OF positions well). Currently the 4th/5th OF for Yankees. SSS for 2020 but he can hit and play strong defense, cheap (hasn't reached arb. years) and local (from Palatine). Would be a great addition to platoon with Engel or take over LF in late innings. Yankees might accept Lopez and return of Rutherford in trade.
  5. Trade proposal...who says no? Cease, Stiever and Fry for Darvish and Ed Howard
  6. The Cubs might be open for business this off season. So much roster uncertainty and assets of diminishing value. I would inquire about Darvish. Affordable (3 more years at @ 20/per) and coming off of a strong (and healthy) campaign. Not sure what it would take but a package built around the return of Cease might hold interest.
  7. Yelich is the interesting one. Awful season and due @$25M/yr. for a while. Brewers might want to offload that burden enough to consider packaging him with one of their stud pitchers so we can maybe solve for a couple areas of need in one transaction .
  8. Really well thought out. Would love to add Bauer but am not optimistic. I'm skeptical of Pedersons interest in leaving the west coast and would rather we target Benintendi or Tauchman in trade, either of whom would be far less expensive and play better defense. Guessing we could put together a trade package for either that preserves our best young pitchers (something like Lopez plus Rutherford). Of course our pitching needs will be somewhat influenced by the health of Crochet. I've seen enough of his stuff to be convinced he can be a big help in 2021 in a variety of roles. I also wouldn't throw up if we somehow came away with Lance Lynn.
  9. Maybe herrassy but here goes....dangle Eloy to Brewers for Yelich and Corbin Burnes. I like Eloy but his lack of defense bottlenecks the lineup and we have depth at DH. Guessing Brewers would entertain dumping Yelich contract given his recent performance and I would bet on a big bounceback from him. Burnes goes right to TOR (I doubt Brewers would consider moving Woodruff due to his affordable contract). Who knows...maybe we can get them to toss in Hader if we throw in Cease, Lopez and Collins?
  10. I'd target Tauschman (NYY), Benintendi (Bos) or Nimmo and dangle Cease or Lopez plus sweetener. All LH hitters capable of playing all 3 OF positions. Engel can platoon vs. certain matchups.
  11. The guy I'd like us to pursue is Conforto. Has another year left on current deal but if we thought we could extend him, I'd try to do some business with the Mets.
  12. Can solve for all 3 with blockbuster trade w/Brewers. Yelich, Burnes and Williams for Eloy.
  13. Would we consider trading Eloy (Baseball Trade Values...Eloy = Woodruff + Hader in trade value)? Maybe Eloy plus Lopez and Collins for Woodruff, Hader and Braun?

    Alex Colome

The flip side of Sox success this year is the need to hold onto both Colome and McCan at trade deadline. Either/both of whom would have brought back quality assets. The good news is they can both be resigned and, at least in the case of McCann, should be resigned (this man's opinion).
  15. Trade deadline would be a snoozer if not for Preller
  16. Just a distraction to Hahn. Now get back to task at hand...Lynn.
  17. After today, I don't see how you can trade Dunning
  18. Thanks. Quite a few Texas bloggers are holding out hope. They also like Yermin Mercedes. Might be able to pull off Steiver and Mercedes for Lynn. Also, might be able to pry away a relief pitcher if Dunning and Mercedes.
  19. In crawling around Rangers blog (fan posts) there seems to be interest in Jared Kelley, WS 2nd round pick and Texas native. First prize for most of their fans would be Kopech.
  20. In a hypothetical trade for Lynn, wouild you prefer giving up... a) Kopech, or b) Dunning and Steiver
  21. Okay thanks. Couldn't get a betting line which usually means pitcher uncertainty.
