Colome remains with White Sox, who always had ample interest in him
Flash replied to Sockin's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I think the Dodgers make a lot off sense but not optimistic about a Hahn - Friedman faceoff. -

Read where Gray has never lost a game as a starter since moving to pitcher from SS in college. SSS but great stuff and pedigree. The FG guys have him #5 in Dodgers system. -

FanGraphs has him 110. Guessing at update time he takes a big jump since he has yet to lose a game and has great peripherals. -

Dodgers Josia Gray (RHP) and Cody Thomas (LH OF w/pop and approaching rule 5) for Colome and Bummer...OR....Phillies Spencer Howard (RHP) straight up for Colome. Both deals seem fair and adress needs of both parties. -

Dodgers match up nicely with WS. Josiah Gray is a AA RH fireballer who FG assigns a 50FV grade to. Currently ranked #5 in Dodgers system and 110 across all prospects. Dodgers said to be seeking LH relief. -
Or as a sweetener in a multi-player deal. Rays can use him. He would step in as starting RF'r.
-
I do like targeting the Rays as trade partners and Sanchez would be a great get but maybe if we broadened the deal...something like Bummer, Colome (ex-Ray) and Jay for Sanchez and McClanahan, it would be more interesting to Rays and much more intrigueing for WS

Except you can't.

I'd sell on Colome. I'd look to Philly (desperate for RP help) and inquire about Spencer Howard. I'd make that 1-1 trade in a heartbeat. I'd even consider taking Dave Robertson and his $11M salary through 2020 to make the money more even...and, if Philly throws in Cole Irvin, we could sweeten things from our side...maybe Fulmer or Fry (I would try to avoid moving Bummer but if it nets us Howard and Irvin, I'd think hard about it). BTW, I don't think Colome & Bummer net you May.

Lots of great names/pieces. I think a lot can be said for keeping Leury around to fill RF or as 4th OF'r/Ut. We could do much worse than a versatile, switch hitting .300 hitter who can LO.

A lot to hope for but if Rodon returns to form, thats not a bad rotation.

Sox claim 1b A.J. Reed off waivers AND send him to majors

Bregman went 0 for first 18. Turned out okay. -
Thanks ptatc - so he will go through arbitration prior to start of season and before we have an idea of his health situtation? Is that correct? He's making $4.9 this year so guessing he'll shoot for a bump up.
-
Does anyone have a sense for when Rodon will return and, relatedly, can be expected to be effective? I know he had surgery (TJ?) but am not sure what the prognosis is. Do we think he will contribute in 2020? Is there a scenario where we let him walk? Thanks

Yes but wouldn't the double declining balance approach yield better outputs? (kidding...I flunked math)
-
They ought to repeal that law of supply and demand
-
Agreed....great insight and coverage Jimmy. Much appreciated.

Guy was a HS and collegiate champion. I don't think we drafted him for his power game. We can win with him and thats what matters. He's a winner and it rubs off on teammates.

He's turned around everything since end of May. BBR only part of the story. Will Nick "The Little Magician" Madrigal be called up this year?
Flash replied to ron883's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Jose Jimenez....? ( gotta go back a long way ) -
I agree on Rutherford. Its pretty remarkable he's been able to turn things around at Birmingham and if he develops just a tad more power, he has potential to be the answer in RF. Just needs a bit more time.

He's got the stuff and seems to have the right mentality. If not future closer, I'd consider packaging him along with Colome. Do you think Washington would part with Robles for package of Colome, Bummer and Rutherford? How about Houston/Tucker? -

I've always liked Shaw. Great personal story. Where do we play him? -

I agree on Mets. The team I keep coming back to is Milwaukee. In the past, they have sought BP help from the Sox and they are in serious need this year. Colome would be a strong addition but its not obvious who we would be interested in. I really like Turang but guess he's unavailable. Dubon?
