I am fully convinced that with a better manager this is a 5 game series and I don't know who wins game 5.
Their offense has been dead in the 2 and what looks like 3rd game they've lost. How do you blame TLR for that?

Will they go to Rodon if he struggles early? What is the back up plan?

Why do so many think April Yermin was the "fake" Yermin and Yermin who has been in a slump is the real Yermin. Obviously he is not as good as his April numbers were but he is also much better than he has been. Even if he rakes in AAA I don't think they will call him back up. The White Sox management never wanted him on the team and took forever to finally give him a chance and now they send him down after his first slump. You would think he would get a little more of a leash considering how great he hit in April but apparently not.

People seem to exaggerate how bad Eloy is based on some occasional very bad looking plays. He is not good but the vast majority of the games he does fine and catches the balls hit towards him. Removing him from LF for DH significantly decreases our offensive potential.

In all seriousness, if you want to max out the offense’s production you catch Yermin with Vaughn in LF and Eloy at DH. Honestly, I’m not sure Yermin would be much worse defensively at catcher than what we’ve seen from Grandal so far this season.
1. TA
2. Robert
3. Abreu
4. Eloy
5. Yermin
6. Moncada
7. Vaughn
8. Eaton
9. MadrigalI dare you to find a better lineup in MLB than that. That’s peak 90’s Indians shit right there.
I'd prefer just going with Vaughn in RF.

This honestly has to be the worst take on soxtalk by far, that I hear repeated often.
Yermim mercedes was let go from two teams. Any team in baseball could have had him multiple times. The sox were the team that picked him up AND the only team to give him a chance and that's an indictment on the organization. Brilliant take!
The fact is he was wasting away in the minors the past few seasons while had an open spot at DH. He was not raking in the upper minors prior to getting into the Sox system. Any other team in the White Sox situation would have given him a chance much earlier than the White Sox did.

It's a shame he hasn't had a chance at the ML level until Eloy's injury, though perhaps he needed the time to get to shine at this level.
Still would like to see him catch once a week, adds to his value.
He should still get a chance to play first some games. Just because he missed that one catch last game on a bad throw doesn't mean he can't play first.

Yermin not getting called up 2 years ago is a travesty akin to the Tatis Jr. trade. What a freaking joke. We beat Oakland with him playing instead of Edwin last year. Hell, we probably have a better regular season record.
He was crushing the ball in AAA in 2019 and even during September call ups they didn't give him a shot. Think of all the trash bats we have given so much playing time at DH the past few years while we've had Yermin in the system.

I remember reading this guys posts about Rodon's mechanics leading to his injuries. I don't know if he was right but it looks like Rodon has gotten rid of that twist in his delivery.

Pretty sure Abreu talked to him after the bat flip yesterday.
I don't think Abreu cares about bat flips.

Lynn is nice but I decided to look up how Dunning is doing and he is doing very good. I still believe trading him for 1 season of Lynn was a mistake.

It's infuriating he wasn't given a real chance in either of the last 2 seasons.
Especially considering we had a blackhole in the DH spot.

Nothing La Russa has done is irrational. Sometimes a manger deserves criticism for bullpen management but most the time it is just hindsight criticism where no one had any problems with the choice until the pitcher gives up runs.

Yermin makes Eloy and to a lesser extent, Vaughn, redundant. We trade whoever possesses the highest trade value. Going into this season and even before Yermin mania, I advocated pursuing Tauchman (NYY). He is a Chgo kid who bats LH and is well better than avg at all 3 OF positions. I'd still pursue him (Lopez + ???). He can hold the fort down until Colas/Cespedes emerges. Vaughn needs to continue his development and build confidence which he is less likely to do while learning a new position. He can go to Charlotte for a bit. Assuming Eloy still has trade value (I posited trading him for Corbin Burnes and this board wanted to hang me from the highest tree), I'd use him to bring in another SP although Burnes is obviously out of the question now. FWIW, am guessing Abreu will still be playing first and hitting 3rd come 2022 and likely beyond. Obviously just one man's opinion.
Vaughn would be more likely to get traded than Eloy.

I would, Hamilton might beat out an infield grounder or a high chopper. Leury will just give you absolutely nothing at the plate and be brutal in left
Leury is a solid hitter who usually hits .270+, it seems most would prefer to forget that and overreact because he hasn't gotten a hit in his first 2 games.

@Squirmin' for Yermin is owed an apology by so many people. ?
I was posting all the time last year about Yermin as DH, I even made it my signature.

I just want to say I had my signature since last year and have been championing Yermin the past few seasons. We've had a blackhole at DH for years and he deserved to have a chance long ago. I don't know why more fans were calling for him when we had such trash at DH.

Certainly hurts giving up Dunning. I hope they extend Lynn for a total of 3 years control... that would help a lot. Seeming that he grew up 3 hours from here, perhaps it is a possibility.
I liked what we saw from Dane especially since he was a rookie who will likely improve. He also seemed to be a likable guy who is good for the clubhouse. However, I wasn't immediately against the trade when I first read about it until I found out Lynn is only a 1 year rental.

I haven't been paying attention to this offseason so I am late but I just want to be on record saying I hate this trade and believe most Sox fans will come to agree in the coming years.

Yeah, all year long people said Ricky is not pulling guys fast enough and pitching bad guys (which of course is related to only having 2 starters) and then he does it and brings one of the best relievers and people don't like it either.
Had dunning given up a 3 run homer everyone would have blown up.
Ricky made mistakes but this game he did everything right:
-pulled dunning before he could blow up
-followed with a dominant reliever
-brought in rodon with bases empty and two out which is the perfect spot as he doesn't have to complete 3 if he makes an out and also doesn't give up immediate runs if he gets hit
-pitched all the good relievers
Really just a ton of things went wrong as crochet got hurt and lots of usually good guys didn't get it done. The Padres actually used the same strategy and won a shutout.
As soon as he pulled Dunning in 1st it he couldn't offered to apply that same short leash to our best bullpen arms, especially after Crochet got injured. If it is a bullpen game he should expect our best arms like Bummer to get at least 2 IP and not pull him because a few guys get on. We went through our starter and 3 best bullpen arms before the game was halfway over.
-
I'm not sure what is worse, he needs Tommy John surgery or he is fine and they took him out for no reason other than his velocity was down. Did he give some type of signal to the dugout that something was wrong or did Ricky and the trainer come out on their own because they were curious about his velocity?

I will bet you that the people who knew that would happen included "Ricky Renteria, Don Cooper, Rick Hahn, Garret Crochet, and Dane Dunning". I would bet an awful lot that Dunning knew he was out if 2 men got on.
Not relevant. I was responding to a comment that said fans would go ballistic if Dunning wasn't pulled and gave up a 3 run homer in the 1st.

Edit- Never mind

If he left Dunning in to face Olson, their best power guy, and gives up a 3 run homer, almost all of us would have gone ballistic.
Wrong, no one was expecting Dunning to get pulled in the first if a couple guys got on. If anyone were to go ballistic over the fact that Dunning wasn't pulled after allowing a couple guys on they should have been going ballistic about Dunning getting the start in the first place.

Why has this team continued to use Kimbrel like he is an elite arm when he has sucked since he got here.
