They realize they won a World Series snapping a 108-year drought, despite 2 bad post season outings, because of him right? Dude pitched in every game and without him, they probably don't even make it to the World Series.
Edit: it's a hell of a lot better than Tatis Jr for Shields, that's for sure.
I see people say this a lot but the Cubs already had the best record in baseball without him. They didn't need Chapman. People also seem to forget he blew 2 leads for the Cubs in their playoff run.

This lineup is much better with Rondon, Castillo, and yes even Engel. I wonder if Renteria will be smart enough to play that line up more but I doubt it.

Eloy is no where near Frank as a hitter. Franks K to walk was rediculously good throughout his college and minor league career. He was a bone dangerous hitter his whole career and one of the greats of all time. Eloy is not even on close pace with Frank but can be a very good hitter especially if he cuts down on the K's.
Eloy's career in the MLB started a week ago.

Lets go trade bait close it down
You think they traded Omar for trade bait?

This team will look better if we can replace Palka with Jon Jay. What are the chances of Madrigal up by the end of the year to replace Sanchez?

I’m glad he got paid but he should have started the year in AAA. Had a bad spring training and looks completely over matched thus far.
He already showed he can handle AAA. The only way for him to get better now is to face major league pitching.

If he can come close to his 2017 numbers with the Cubs, he'd be a more than acceptable lead off man for this club. Him actually doing that is a different story.
Pushing Leury to a sub role is also beneficial.
He should be pushing Palka to a sub role or AAA.

Omar with another home run today.

Hopefully once Eloy starts raking we can get Alonso out of the 4th spot.

I just can’t watch that guy in RF anymore. Top 5 picks are nice, but I’ve had enough.
We have some reactionary fans. Yolmer has been good and so has Leury(who many seem to already forgotten had an RBI double today), Palka however has always been overrated by White Sox fans. He is just a worse version of Matt Davidson.

How the hell is Albers still in the league?
Parents...teach your children to throw a baseball
He was really good for Washington a year or two ago.

Yolmer actually has been that or better the past 2 seasons.
29 minutes ago, Look at Ray Ray Run said:Not really, but people ripping on Yolmer are just a bunch of curmudgeons. Yolmer a great teammate, very good and versatile defender, and a potentially serviceable bat. He's a guy who should play 100 games at multiple positions spelling starters throughout the infield and coming in late for defense. Ripping on Yolmer just shows how negative and toxic this place is becoming.
Baseball Reference has Yolmer with a 3.5 WAR in 2017 and 2.6 WAR in 2018.

uh no, league average is like 2.2-2.5 WAR. Yolmer ain't that. He's been above replacement.

Seriously, second basemen are supposed to be a dime a dozen. Nothing against our starter, but cmon, it'd be nice to have a second baseman who is league average or better in offense and defense.
Yolmer has been league average or better.

Eloy hit too good in the minors to think this is an accurate representation in the way he handles major league pitching. He has never been a big strike out guy. It's just nerves. He needs to get his first hit or just put the ball in play so he can relax.

Why wouldn't they at least wait a few weeks to not waste an extra year of control?
-
72 wins. I think the offense has a chance to be decent but the pitching will be awful with the chance of being the worst in baseball. I wouldn't even be surprised if Rodon is bad this season as he seems to be regressing. His velocity was down last year and his K rate way down.

Anderson just keeps getting better. I can't stand that the dude doesn't walk, but he brings value in every other aspect of the game.
He has actually been significantly worse ever since his debut season. He may walk a tiny bit more now but his debut season so far has been his best. Hopefully that changes this season.

I don’t know about that. Engel has earned it with the glove
No, he didn't. Leury has always been a better player and the stats have shown that. Engel's defensive has never been good enough nor has Leurys defensive been bad enough for Engel to be considered a better player.

IMO he should be the opening day centerfielder. He's been here the longest and he has earned it this spring, but it will probably be Jay.
I'm fine with them giving Jay the role to see how he can do but I don't like Engel getting the role over Leury because has never earned it.
-
Just want to mention Leury's got the 4th most at bats this spring (48 ABs) and is batting .438 with 1.119 OPS.
-
Why did they send him to AAA if they were working on this deal. If he is going to be up opening day he should still be getting at bats in Spring Training, especially considering how rusty he looked.
-
White Sox would have tried to offer 250M but 450m with incentives.

Adam can go get em though. And he is about the same hitter as Leury and Delmonico.
Leury is a much better hitter and overall better player. Engels defensive is not good enough nor is Leurys defensive bad enough to rationalize any argument of Engel being better than Leury, Just look at Leury's WAR numbers he has put up in his limited playing time compared to Engel. It is shame both the White Sox fan base and the management have yet to realize this and we have to deal the false perception that Engel is our best option for CF.

4/7- Sox vs Mariners, 1:10, WGN

The only positive I can see about the White Sox having another awful season is Renteria potentially getting fired. If we had a good team and were winning Renteria would still be an awful manager but people would ignore it. I'm not someone who uses managers at scapegoats for bad teams. Robin was hated as a manager by fans but I never as many issues with him as with Renteria.
