Yermin looks to have a good approach at the plate. He is a great bat to have on the bench looking for some late inning power.

And what if we give him a chance and rakes in the majors, is still just going to be a bat off the bench if he is one of our best hitters? People are assuming he is not the real deal but we won't know unless we give him a chance.

Idk about 150. Not as a strict back up. Like I said, guys would have to get hurt or Edwin would fall off a cliff offensively to be released.

If he is good then he should get the playing time.

  3. People are saying if he's the 26th man he won't get much playing time but what if he is the real deal? You all seem to assume he is not. If he gets a chance and rakes are we supposed to continue not playing him over players? He should get a shot in the big leagues in order to earn more playing time.

Lol, some people going a bit overboard with the Mercedes love.  He is a guy that may be nice to have around in case of injury, but he isn't a guy you need to move people around to make space for.

How do you know? We haven't even given him a shot in the majors yet.

Yes.  Anything else just seems silly, reactionary and unprofessional.  There’s no data yet. We need data.

What do you mean there is no data? We have watched him the last 3 seasons. The issues with Ricky are not about the White Sox losing record.

With a roster that doesn’t have 9000 black holes I think you’re likely to find he’s not as bad or as big of a deal as most think.

Renteria sucks and me thinking he sucks has had nothing to do with the White Sox losing games. In regards to the line up issue the black holes don't justify the nonsense Ricky was doing last year. All he had to do was put the good players he had available at the top of the line up and keep them there.

The same people who hate this trade will probably hate when they trade for Price too, despite clamoring for a SP, in particular Price.

I think I'd rather have Mazara for Walker than Price for Walker.

I'll be honest I won't be a fan of it. I follow the Red Sox a lot and Price is a whiney unlikable player.

I wasn't a huge Walker guy to start, but I don't get all the hate for this move.  Could the Sox have done better?  Sure.  But I don't think this is terrible.  At very worst they got a 2 year stop gap that is at least a major leaguer.

We already have stop gaps to play RF with Engel and Leury, we don't need another one. It was time to get a good player to truly improve the team and they failed.

I think people should look at this move separate from spending more money. There was no real right fielder available besides Calhoun. Castellanos and Ozuna would likely be worse than Mazara out there, and Calhoun's career offensive numbers are close to Mazara's.

It is not even comparable. Ozuna is a far better player even if you assume his defense would be worse.

Holy fuck, so many White Sox fans are insufferable assholes.

Steele Walker is a 23 year old platoon/fringe prospect in high A. Mazara was a former top 20 prospect and is only 24.

    ONLY 24!

The issue isn't that we traded Steele Walker, the issue is that with all the options available to improve RF this is the garbage we end up with.
