  1. Would Madrigal and Walker head to Kanny after they sign?
  2. No need to send Jerry a letter. He just emailed me confirming he read your post
  3. We can only bring back Guillen and voodoo Rios if KW gets his old job back. Apparently Hahn has no trade value according to many on here.
  4. So Sale, Quintana, Eaton, Frazier, Robertson, Kahnle, Swarzak, Jennings. Anyone else? Edit: Forgot Ventura
  5. Then what determines the haul we would get back from trading Abreu?
  6. I’m not into the metric stats that a lot of people seem to be in on this site, so if someone could help me out with this Abreu being a 1.5 WAR player over the next 4 months? The 1.5 WAR would be if he stayed in a Sox uniform the rest of the way correct? If he was batting 4th or 5th with the Astros from the start of this year would his WAR be any different than it is now with the Sox? Would that WAR of 1.5 for the next 4 months change if he was with the Astros? Common sense to me says that Abreu would have much better numbers if Springer, Altuve, Bregman, and Correia were hitting in front of him than Moncada and Sanchez. Can Abreu’s numbers with the Sox be put in the Astros 4 or 5 spot to see what his numbers would be with them? It seems to me his “value” is less with the Sox and would be more with the Astros based on the opportunities he would have with those 3 or 4 players in front of him instead of Moncada and Sanchez.
  7. Adley is a monster. 3-4 2 doubles and homer.
  8. #PlaySadlyForAdley or #PlayBadlyForAdley
  9. Who said everything Hahn does is good? KW had established himself for years signing or trading for guys that were done long before he got them.
  10. The Sox have plenty of money to spend this off season. I’m on board with spending it. I just don’t think Machado or Harper would be a wise decision this off season, and extending Abreu is pointless if we can get something of value in trade for him now. I want Arenado, but giving up prospects for him with no guarantee of him signing with us is the same situation we’d have if we traded for Machado now.
  11. There’s no doubt in my mind KW pulled the trigger on the Shields deal. Shields was washed up before we got him, but in KW fashion let’s get the guys here that had hell of careers elsewhere and are no longer relevant major league players.
  12. At the time of the trade Tatis wasn’t a top 300 prospect. It’s a horrible trade now because of Tatis’ surge. That couldn’t have been projected back then by anyone. Padres took a chance, and so far it’s looked good for them. You forget that the Sox drafted Sale and got Quintana for nothing. Jury is still out, but Moncada, Kopech, and Basabe was a very good haul for Sale. No other team could’ve gotten Jimenez and Cease for Quintana. Why isn’t everyone just as excited about that deal as the Padres are in Tatis? I know I am. I assume “expecting to compete” means a playoff spot correct? Answering that is dependent on many factors. I’d hope after this year the Sox spend some money on proven players, not projects to flip, and make a trade or 2 that give us a more competitive team headed into next year. That’s how I could see the Sox “competing” in 2019.
  13. Why would that bother you if they lost that many games when it has been explained to all of us what the plan is? We haven’t been lied to by the FO on the plan. Expectations from the start of this rebuild should’ve been lowered considerably. What are you, and everyone else complaining about this team, pissed off at?
  14. The Sox are 24-48. What is Abreu doing that “means too much” to this team? Having someone lead this team to the third worst record in baseball means more to fans than getting a return that will add to what the Sox are trying to accomplish? Having someone to call our best player is meaningless. Look at how great Machado is doing and the Orioles still have the worst record in baseball. Why? Because the rest of their team sucks. Just like ours. Abreu’s impact is more valuable to a team ready to win now than a team fighting to get the number 1 overall pick in next years draft. A return that can accelerate the Sox plans is what we should be hoping for.
  15. If the Sox are willing to pay all of Abreu’s contract does that bring us back a better haul? Would the Sox do something like that?
  16. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Not sure what makes you think Abreu won’t bring a “top” prospect?
  17. Bukauskas has been on the 7 day dl for a month and a half. The return from Houston must include Alvarez, Whitley, or Tucker to make it worth it. I think the Astros might take Cedeno as well.
  18. Wonder if Laz will be sent there as well, or wait for Madrigal?
  19. What else is he going to say? It’s not like Coop was giving the seminar. I’m all in favor of Coop answering all pitcher related questions from now on.
  20. The number 1 overall pick for the 2019 draft.
  21. Avi 2-3 2b and hr. To bad he’s not prospect material
  22. I really hope these wins are helping add value to our tradable assets.
  23. I’ve never paid attention to the college World Series to see how the recently drafted Sox players are doing. Is there anything to watch out for that would indicate future success as a “pro” by the outcome of this tournament?
