Wonder if the Sox told Harper we can get Machado as well -

Puig seems to have more baggage than Machado does. If the Dodgers are tired of Puig why would the Reds want to deal with him? -

There has to be a way his post get redirected to a disclaimer thread. If we choose to click on that thread we have only ourselves to blame -
Rosenthal: Could Harper be headed to the southside

If it comes out that Machado and Harper took less to go elsewhere why should anyone be pissed? That’s the one thing that can’t be controlled in all of this. -

Can Peavy have his own thread? -
It looks like KW is the guy to get an honest answer out of. #StopAskingHahn

At this time those 2 would be dead money to JR. Look at the 2 teams that traded for them this year. The Cubs and Dodgers. Both playoff teams in need of a veteran with experience to help them down the stretch. These type of players you trade for at the trade deadline in 2020 at the earliest.

What do the Sox get in signing guys like Dozier or Murphy? Do they help us win 70 games in 2019 instead of 65? If those are options for losing Abreu then no thanks to trading him. It really is time to start thinking bigger than guys like Dozier or Murphy if we’re going to take the next step and get out of this rebuild.

Update per Heyman: White Sox one of 3 teams meeting Machado
Sticky Stuff replied to DirtySox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Madrigal, Rutherford, Adolfo, Basabe, Gonzalez, Walker, Burger, Sheets and our 3rd overall pick in 2019 still in the minors. I wish more people would put to the side their personal feelings on the FO, Harper, and Machado, and see how huge getting the both of them would be. Instant foundation. Paying $65-$70 mil annually for 2 players will not financially hurt us with the cost control options we’ll have at other positions. If needed, I’m sure a few of these options will be traded for upgrades to fill roster spots. -
Let’s have some fun with this: Harper $370 million 10 years with opt outs Machado $300 million 10 years with opt outs Abreu traded to Dodgers for Joc Pederson

Morosi: White Sox interested in "both Machado and Harper"
Sticky Stuff replied to Jose Abreu's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The interesting part of this is if Harper did actually say our offer is the highest. I read that JR’s fear was overbidding on a player. I wonder if JR knew that his offer was the highest right now if he’d think they overbid, or would he be happy that it hasn’t been matched yet? -
So because Washington exceeded the luxury tax the signing team for Harper would only have to give up a pick after the fourth round?
-
We’re you being serious about losing the 43rd pick if we sign Harper?
-
What round pick would the Sox have to give up if they sign Harper?
-
So do the Sox!

Bad deal for Mets

Am I only the only 1 uneasy about this off season?
Sticky Stuff replied to TheFutureIsNear's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The money to pay caliber free agents and not be financially hurt. The farm system like this that we’ve never had before. They don’t have anyone at the moment to build around. The only thing that can’t be controlled in all of this is if they don’t want to play for the Sox. -
Or if he doesn’t perform up to the amount he’s getting paid those 3 years hopefully 1 of our outfielders in the minors will be able to replace him at no cost at all. We really have a unique situation right now where we can pay Harper $40 mil for the next 3 years and it won’t hurt us financially. And if a prospect outfielder is ready to take Harper’s spot it won’t hurt us if he takes the opt out after 3.
-
I don’t know what makes it obvious? I haven’t read anything so far on it being displayed at the game tonight.
-
Is it safe to say we won’t get an explanation from the Sox or United Center people as to why Harper’s name and number were on there today?
-
Because that’s what I’m posting for! I’ll give him +100. It’s already been mentioned that ARod signed his deal with a last place team. That would be the Texas Rangers. What was their pitch? The weather in Texas? The $$$ spoke. Harper is ready to cash in. If the offer only comes out to $25 million a year he’s not coming here. Thus, the reason majority on here say he’s not coming is because we won’t spend. That makes me ask “ what’s the point then?”
-
You used Brian Duensing as an example. That’s pretty solid.
-
That was orchestrated and a completely different sport. If you want it similar to that example sign Machado first, trade the farm for Trout, and that should “sell” Harper on coming here
-
Not sure what the shame is? I might be the only one that thinks the Sox will offer $300-$350 million for Harper. I haven’t read anybody else say that.
