  1. 3-4 months yes, I agree. 2 months? Which is what it would be if they start in late Summer? That would be a joke. You can't have a 55-60 game season.
  2. Hypothetical question based strictly on opinion. But who does everyone think was the better White Sox team? Our 1994 version, that was wiped out because of the strike? Or the 2005 team that was able to fulfill all of our dreams? I would say the 1994 team. This team had everything. Far and away the best starting rotation in the AL. McDowell, Fernandez, Alvarez and Bere. A closer in Roberto Hernandez. Lefthanded relief specialist in Assenmacher and dept in the pen with DeLeon and McCaskill. The everyday lineup had people at the top who got on, Raines and Cora. Thomas, need I say more, hitting 3rd, a cleanup hitter in Franco, who had 100 RBI's by August to protect Frank, something we didn't have the year before. In the playoffs, it seemed Toronto's whole game plan was to not give Thomas anything to hit because we didn't have a legit clean up hitter. More power with Ventura. Depth in the lineup. Lance Johnson, a .300 hitter hitting 7th. The lineup had speed, Raines, Johnson, and Cora and Guillen to a certain extent. Power with Thomas, Franco and Ventura. Defensively, Ventura, Guillen, Karkovice and Lance Johnson were as good anyone in the league at the time at their respective positions. This is not meant to take ANYTHING away from the 2005 team. We were the best team in baseball that year and should have won and did. But I do think the 1994 club was more talented.
  3. "I think the question, though, is the curve flattening because so many things are shut down. I think the month of May will tell us a lot. As things start opening up, do the numbers still stay flat or do they start going up again like Germany is experiencing. But it does seem that MLB, in some form, could be back by mid-late summer." If it's late Summer, then just cancel the season. You can't have a 2 month season without everything being a mockery.
  4. From what I remember about him, he had a nasty splitter....But where he got in trouble, was that splitter was even remotely the only out pitch he had. So if you layed off of it, it would break out of the strike zone and/or he had to rely on something else then to get hitters out, and he didn't have anything else. So I hope he's developed/developing another pitch.
  5. Maybe this is a dumb question, but does anyone know if their first spring game on Saturday is televised? I doubt it is, so maybe it's wishful thinking on my part. But I wanted to see if anyone knew if maybe it is.
  6. He's not. This is all stupid talk and a waste of time. The fact that this conversation is even happening just shows me how much I want the season to start so we can talk about important things like the games themselves and not stupid B.S. like this.
  7. These are chronological. 1. July 1982. Jerry Hairston hits a pinch hit, 2 out, 2 run homer off Dan Petry of the Tigers in the bottom of the 9th to win it 3-2. 2. September 1983. Two days before they clinched division. It rained all day, and continued all evening. No way this game should have been played, and no idea why they did. But after a two hour delay they took the tarp off even though it was still raining. The White Sox scored 11 runs in the 6th inning, highlighted by a Baines grand slam, and won 12-0. Game was called after Seattle hit in the top of the 7th. My good friend's Dad took me, him, and his 3 younger brothers, ( one of whom became my brother in law,) even though his dad wasn't really a baseball fan, it never stopped raining, and it was a work night for him. Never forget that. 3. June of 2005. White Sox score 10 in the 6th to wipe out a 6-2 Arizona lead and win 12-6. Thomas, Uribe and Konerko all homer in the inning. 4. July 3, 2019 Last year. Took my 3 nephews, ( sons of my brother in law mentioned above,) and one of my nephews's girl friend. DH against Detroit where Cease made his major league debut by winning opener and in second game, White Sox get 3 in 7th to wipe out 5-2 Tiger lead, Moncada's second homer of the game re-ties it in the bottom of the 10th after Tigers scored in top half, and then Abreu's 3 run homer wins it in the 12th. Guess I should also say I saw Jack Morris no hit us in 1984, but why focus on the negative.
  8. Yeah, good call. That one too. I guess all the national announcers were against us!
  9. Yeah, you might have a point there, as I kind of remember that. I think he knew the game well though, even if he didn't always know the players.
  10. ESPN has always sucked at covering Major League Baseball. Remember when they used to have the first round of the playoffs? Never forget the ridiculously biased broadcast that overrated clown Chris Berman performed in the Boston series against us in 2005. He's an admitted New Englander and his performance in broadcasting that series was disgustingly unprofessional in his favoritism for the Red Sox. He actually even said "oh no," as Uribe's grounder went through Graffanino's legs!!
  11. No, I don't think it really does. Because of the pitching. Like I said in my post. Where did the Twins improve their pitching? We have plenty of "ifs" in ours, I know. But with what we've added to the pitching and what we have potentially coming back from injury... But with or without Donaldson, the Twins can hit. But now so can we. It WILL be the pitching that decides things.
  12. Exactly! That was my point when I started this post! Thank you!
  13. ..........I don't think hurts the White Sox that much. Not going to say it isn't a good pick up by the Twins because the guy can play. But what have they done to improve their pitching? They have Berrios and Odorizzi. But after that, they have plenty of questions and no sure things. Their bullpen is fine. But not lights out and can go either way. As many times bullpens can. We have Giolito to start with and have added Keuchel and Gonzales for the back of the rotation. And if Kopech is healthy and lives up to expectations, and Cease does, and with adding Cishek to go along with Colome, Bummer and Marshall.....then our pitching can very easily be much stronger then theirs. And with or without Donaldson, it's going to be who pitches the best that will decide things between us and the Twins. We already know Minnesota can hit. Again, with or without Donaldson. And now with our young established hitters, ( Moncada, Abreu, Anderson), and with our acquisitions, (Grandall, Encarnaciaon and somewhat Mazzara, ) And our newest young players, ( hopefully a next step for Jimenez, and Robert,) We'll hit too. So we both can hit. It will be the pitching that decides things. And Donaldson won't help them much there. Just being optimistic.
  14. First of all, LaRussa wasn't here in the late 80's. He was fired halfway through 1986. Before McDowell was up.....He didn't come up until 1987 after LaRussa was gone. So he never played for LaRussa. McDowell's memory sounds like it's playing tricks on him.
  15. Not sure. Good question. Could very well have been to give someone extra rest.
  16. Thank you!!! So I am going to take this an extra step further. Anyone who paid good money for this game tonight should get their money back, and be allowed in for free whenever this piece of %$^* appears in a game in the future. I guess I'm taking this so seriously because I was offered tickets to this game and was unfortunately unable to go. I say unfortunately, because now that I saw this guy pitched I feel I would have been ripped off if I could have gone. Enough is enough.
  17. Why did Dylan Covey start tonight?? We are going to keep this real simple. If this piece of #^&*% even sees the mound ONCE next year, it is an insult to all of White Sox fans who are doing our best to buy into this rebuilding process. If he does, it is an insult to our intelligence. I know this season is finished. But that doesn't make it any easier to deal with putting %$^& like this out there.
  18. 3 would have been fine over the weekend. Then back up for the Minnesota series. No reason for 5 games. Too long. That's why I said he should have been up by now.
  19. How long of a rehab stint do you think he needed?
  20. Moncada's coming back up tomorrow right? Actually he should have been back up already.
