  1. Hearing White Sox came in 2nd with a pretty formidable offer.
  2. Geez, some of these tweets are just employment validation for the writer. "Look, I'm working over here"
  3. The astronomical $$$ pitching market was set off by the boneheaded Braves and that ridiculous one year deal for Cole Hamels. It easily pushed the Wheeler deal well north of $100 million and that Wheeler deal is pulling a guy like Bumgarner who had no chance of seeing 9 figures, in that conversation now. When Bumgarner gets his 5/$100 million, there will be no reason for Ryu and Keuchel not to demand a guaranteed 4th year on any deal.
  4. "All in" would mean going for guys like Cole, Rendon, Strasburg.
  5. https://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/cubs/ct-xpm-2013-07-29-chi-former-cubs-pitcher-castillo-drowns-20130729-story.html
  6. It's Renteria, no way is he dropping his "Pito" down in the order. Hell, I would not be surprised if the Sox also gave that in on the contract extension.
  7. Robert Moncada Abreu Grandal Eloy Ozuna Anderson McCann / Collins Mendick/Madrigal (July)
  8. It truly sounds like the Sox are going for 3 pieces this offseason, They are looking at quantity over quality. Not saying I'm opposed to this based on all the holes. And not saying there isn't quality in a group of Grandal + Ozuna +Keuchel. In fact I think that would be the best Free Agency haul in the team's history. I truly would have preferred go all in one one big Whale, but that plan backfired already once. Spread the wealth, and hope your young players take the next step to help compliment that much needed playoff push.
  9. If having to settle for Keuchel comes with the addition of a premier OF bat, then I'm fine there.
  10. Price +Benintendi+ $30 million I'd consider.
  11. Winning will eventually change this. Need our young guys to keep moving things in the right direction.
  12. No. But you can make those up on your own if they make you feel better.
  13. Just because you get paid a lot of money doesn't make you a difference maker.
  14. People are freaking out about their team (historically cheap) not paying a guy $120 million all based on future potential. Same folks how outside of the one game pitched against the Sox haven't seen much of this guy pitch at all. Move on.
  15. Anything over $20 million a year for that guy or most SPs is absurd. It's not smart business.
  16. At those number for pitching, beef up the lineup in RF and DH and pray for a miracle from Lopez, Kopech, Cease. The pitching market is just absurd at this point.
  17. $18 million for Cole Hamels, My God. And the players" union wants a work stoppage?
  18. Cole = Lebron Strasburg = Wade Wheeler = Bosh We will end up with Boozer again (Bumgarner).
  19. LH also. I think rotation balance (at least not having 5 straight RH pithcers) is very important in today's game.
  20. 1) There is no such thing as disposable for the Sox. 2) Nova is not solid. Don't get fooled by his garbage time performance the 2nd half of the season. The guy doesn't miss bats and his WHIP is trash, especially when pitching in the AL. That's a bad recipe for a terrible defensive team.
  21. Why? It doesn't have to be some washed up AAAA scrub. Maybe it's time to push the up the clock on your better A, AA guys who are performing well at the time and you need a guy to fill in here for a couple weeks. Maybe you'll un-tap a capable ML pitcher in the process. The problem with veteran patches like Nova is that once you have them, this franchise doesn't cut them lose when they aren't cutting it. Sadly, it's their way of doing business. They will get all the use they can get from an old broom.
  22. I'm about to throw my laptop across the room if I continue to read about bringing Nova back. Enough with the roster clogging patch crap. Even if it's to complement a Wheeler signing.
