2 words : Player Development. It's what has haunt this organization since Reinsdorf took over. The trades were 100% the right moves. And even the half ass free agency work to supplement talent has been OK. Not great, but OK. But it's those second tier accessory prospects that have doomed this team. Too have not found one single guy to contribute from the list of : Adolfo, Basabe, Gonzalez, Rutherford, Walker (traded but sucks), Burdi, Hansen, Stiever, Collins, Madrigal (traded but sucks) By finding zero contribution from that mid tier is how you end up with a payroll at $180 million full of s%*#. Over-paying for relievers. Trading for washed up corner OFs like Pollock. And most likely ending up with more washed up over-paid garbage like Gallo/Bellinger this offseason.

Liam Hendriks coming up in trade discussions
HOFHurt35 replied to Sleepy Harold's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I really don't trust Hahn and Co scouting and trading for young players. Nor is there player development in place to finish those young pieces. I can't believe Hahn was allowed to keep this job in the first place. -
More power to Rodon if he's able to get that kind of deal. He's averaged about 100 innings for the 8 seasons he's participated in.

2023 MLB offseason signings and rumors thread
HOFHurt35 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Now? In their history of existence, I have not understood them. Yet they have two championships vs our one during that time. Just a weird organization. -
I don't even think they RSVP for this one. Which at least they are being realistic for a change.
-
Just in time for Ryan Poles to trade him for a stiff WR
-
Which means there is always room to push the payroll needle, for the right guy of course.
-
Imagine that. Very well run organizations who contend every year for the past decade wanted out best player in free agency. Shocker.
-
For the Sox?
-
Lucas Giolito performed close to "non tender" level this past season. I'd much rather his big rotation $ go to someone else.
-
I'd like to explore dumping Giolito for prospects and saving that arbitration $$$ there. If I can spin his $12 million to $9 million going towards Quintana, that's a win. Plus it breaks up the RH rotation.
-
I feel the complete opposite.
-
Gallo is not coming cheaper than Conforto or Bellinger. Those two will get 1 year deals to re-establish value. Gallo is getting at least a 3 year deal form someone.
-
Rather than their usual patchwork, I'd prefer "let the kids play", literally. Sosa at 2B and Colas in RF. Eloy to LF (unfortunately). Burger/Sheets/Grandal at DH. Sign Kiermaier as the #4 defensive replacement OF.

Yeah, I think Northbrook called her out for her BS.
-
Or that he was very very high on the list of reasons why this team didn't win last season?

White Sox interested in Athletics Catcher Sean Murphy
HOFHurt35 replied to Vote4Pedro's topic in Pale Hose Talk
All this nonsense because of the overpaid garbage catcher currently on the roster. -
I'd boot Rick Hahn upstairs to a glorified president position RIGHT DAMN NOW and bring in Click to run this team. The Rays have done more with less than any other team in history. This fits Reinsdorf's model. And now Click has won the big one with the Astros.
-
I don't think so. There were still a lot of very delusional people out there these past two off-seasons (post Machado / Harper) thinking Reinsdorf was going to go all in for free agents. Go see Twitter now. People still up in arms about the projected payroll (WSD, James, others).
-
Oh no, Sox fans will eat this up so easily. Time to go follow all the foodie accounts for ?. Then pitchforks and torches when he signs elsewhere. "We were lied to again"
-
Agree here. It's not too late. Chris Sale was rushed as a reliever and then worked back as a Starter. Rodon and Kopech the same. A TJ surgery is not career ending, it's actually a reset.
-
Adam LaRoche and now AJ Pollock have given Rick Hahn two mulligans on bad acquisitions. That's $21 million saved there. Rick Hahn is a very bad ML GM.
-
He truly never looked happy out there, but might be his personality. I think the clubhouse is kind of toxic, even with the removal of LaRussa.
