Sox sign IF Bobby Dalbec to minor league deal, NRI

Colson Montgomery - How long until he proves he is a MLB shortstop?
Jerry McNertney replied to tray's topic in Pale Hose Talk
White Sox management made a mistake starting Montgomery in Charlotte. He clearly wasn't ready for AAA baseball. Hopefully, they will correct that mistake this season and start him at Birmingham. If fares well at Birmingham, maybe Montgomery can be promoted to Charlotte during the season. -
Draft Kings sets Sox O/U at 49.5 wins
Jerry McNertney replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
It's too early to estimate. We have the rest of winter and spring training to go before a more confident guess can be made. As things stand now, 50 wins seems reasonable. I might think very differently in three months or so. -
Dick Allen was a good, sometimes excellent player. He was no Hall of Famer. It seems politically motivated to me.

Giants sign SS Willy Adames — 7-years, $182M
Jerry McNertney replied to WhiteSox2023's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Okay, I give. What's so special about Adames? Is it his lifetime .322 OBP, or his .766 OPS, or his mediocre fielding including 20 errors in 2024? -

Twenty-six million dollars a year for a lifetime .248 hitter? Money in MLB is bonkers. -
Based upon his awful 2024 season at Charlotte, Montgomery should be the opening day shortstop for Birmingham.

Would Jordan have eventually succeeded in the MLB?

No. -
Dick Allen, Tommy John up for HOF Consideration
Jerry McNertney replied to Balta1701's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Tommy John is close to a Hall of Famer, but probably not. Dick Allen, no. -
Based upon Montgomery's performance this past season at AAA Charlotte, he may be more suited for another sport other than baseball.

I wouldn't be surprised if Vaughn goes and is replaced by Elko, a lefthanded bat.
-
I don't understand how the big bat of Vargas isn't in the starting lineup.
-
Eder with his 9.87 ERA at Charlotte should fit in well with the current White Sox bullpen.
-
Vargas appears to be unfamiliar with the game of baseball.
-
Why would anyone think Vargas is "fixable".
-
Getz was a horrible hire. I don't see how anyone could have assembled a worse ML team than the Getz 2024 White Sox.
-
It's obvious that Getz was a woefully bad hire.

Changing managers seldom alters won/loss outcomes in a meaningful way. There may be a slight psychological/morale improvement. To me the White Sox big deficiencies are the inability to identify and develop MLB talent and an owner who refuses to spend big money on top ML free agents.
-
I don't think any other ML General Manager could have assembled a worse team than the 2024 White Sox if they tried.

Why didn't the White Sox draft Henderson in their second round?

Chasing Records — 121 losses, modern MLB record

Where's the guilt and shame shown by any member of White Sox management? Crickets. -
Chasing Records — 121 losses, modern MLB record
Jerry McNertney replied to Paulie4Pres's topic in Pale Hose Talk
If you take away the three double digit losing streaks from the White Sox, their record would be 31-62 (.333) and it would still be the lowest winning percentage in the ML. -

I genuinely believe there are some Minor League teams better than the current 2024 White Sox. -
KW's donation of Burger to the Marlins looks like a final FU to the White Sox organization.
-
Burger wasn't traded to the Marlins, he was donated. Eder? Come on.
