I agree with the people at the USA Today having the Sox ranked seventh in MLB power rankings. There are three teams better than the White Sox in both leagues. In the AL, Tampa Bay, Houston and New York are better than the WS. In the NL, SF, LA and Milwaukee are better than the WS. If the WS play Houston in the opening round they would be obvious underdogs. Could the WS beat Houston? Sure, they could. Will they beat Houston? Probably not.

I wasn't a fan of TLR in the 1980's, and I'm not a fan now. He's made some good moves and some bad moves, like all managers. My guess is that if Rick Renteria was the manager this year the Sox record would be about the same.

The Sox have an unbalanced offense, way too many strikeouts and potential designated hitters. They should try to get Madrigal back in the off season, if healthy. The Cubs will want a bundle for Madrigal, and rightly so. A guy like Madrigal who'll probably hit .300+ for a decade or more and who seldom strikes out is just what the Sox need. Trading Madrigal for a super expensive 33 year-old inconsistent set-up man has to be one of the dumbest trades in Sox history. The Sox may have to give up Vaughn and Crochet, maybe Kopech instead of Crochet. If The Sox didn't essentially give Madrigal away, they wouldn't have to trade away such talent to get him back.

I would like to see the Sox go for a guy who makes contact with his bat, seldom strikes out and hits for a high average. Preferably he would be a middle infielder. The Sox could offer Kimbrel for such a player, but the trading team would probably want a lot more than just him in the trade.

Probably an "L" tonight, a "W" would be a nice surprise.

It's a good thing that the White Sox aren't in the AL East. If they were, they'd be battling Toronto for 4th place.

It felt like a loss to me. If your "closer" can't get three outs before giving up three runs, that's pathetic.

If the Sox play their cards right they may be able to re-acquire Madrigal via trade in the off season. The Sox should offer Crochet and Sheets for Madrigal. My guess is the Cubs won't think it's good enough. The Sox may have to substitute Kopech for Crochet. Guys like Madrigal, who will might hit .300+ annually for a decade, don't grow on trees.

I'll never understand this trade. The Sox trade Madrigal, who if he stays healthy, will probably hit .300+ for many years to come, for a 33 year-old, ineffective set-up man. Where's the logic in such a move?

I don't understand wasting a Rodon start and risking injury to any of their players in this game. Why didn't the Sox just forfeit this game?

Jimenez played left field for Charlotte yesterday. I don't understand that. The rehab goal for Jimenez Isn't for him to be re-injured before returning to the Sox. He should be DH'ing only. In fact, when it's Eloy's turn to bat, he should be carried to home plate. The batboy should bring his bat. If Jimenez makes an out, he should be carried back to the dugout. If he gets a hit, he can jog to first base and have a pinch runner to replace him. He'd be done for the day. If Eloy hits a home run, he can walk around the bases. That way he'd be much less likely to trip over a base. Eloy Jimenez is a fragile asset. He should be treated like. Faberge egg.

Lucas needs to be the "good" Giolito for the Sox to have a chance of winning tonight.

Hoping the Sox don't get swept again by the Astros. The Astros are the best team in the American League this year by a fairly wide margin.

I disagree somewhat with what appears to be a consensus here. I think Burger is the best natural hitter of the four. Vaughn will be a solid MLB player, but he's not there yet. Mercedes was fun in April, but there probably was a reason he didn't make the majors until he was 28. I've never thought highly of Sheets, and despite some early offensive success with the Sox, I still don't. I could be wrong, but I don't think Sheets will ever be a quality MLB player.

After getting three hits yesterday, Adolfo is hitting all of .241 @ Birmingham.

Right now, Houston is the best team in MLB. They're better than the Giants and the Dodgers.

I don't think it's criticism, but just being realistic. I think the Sox will miss Madrigal a lot. Without their stellar starting pitching, the current makeup of the Sox would be pretty mediocre. The defense and bullpen have been spotty. I'm concerned that Lynn and Rodon will come back to earth. Besides, Rodon has a history of being fragile. I hope the Sox sweep the next three games against the Astros, but I think it is unlikely.

It looks like the Sox left their smoke and mirrors back in Chicago. Before yesterday's game I said I'd be satisfied with the Sox winning one of this four game series. Winning one would still be okay, getting swept wouldn't. A split of the series would be great, but it's unlikely. With all of the Sox injuries, the Astro's are currently fielding a more talented team.

The Houston series should be a big challenge for the Sox. The Astros on the field are currently more talented than the Sox. I'll be satisfied if the Sox can win one of the four games. If the Sox can somehow manage a split, it would be great.

Imagine if the Sox had the Cubs bullpen. Wow.

I'm not a gambler, so I don't understand the White Sox being -145 against an 8-0 Flaherty.

Charlotte is more likely than Arlington Heights.
