Jesse Rogers: Sox Sign Benintendi - 5yr / $75M
Jerry McNertney replied to Chicago White Sox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
At best, Benintendi is the 2014-2016 version of Adam Eaton. Short, left-handed with occasional extra base power. Not bad, but nothing to be excited about. -

I'm sick of this team, top to bottom. -

Counting tonight's game, the next 19 White Sox games are against clearly better teams. It would be great if they could go 8-11, but 6 or 7 wins is more realistic. -
This team is going to lose 90 plus games...
Jerry McNertney replied to LittleHurtCG's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I think the White Sox will lose only 84 games this year even with this bad start. -
In today's MLB power ratings, the White Sox rank 17th. How's that rebuild going?

GT 4/8: SOX @ PIT, 5:35 pm, NBCSC

Lousy play must be contagious in the White Sox organization. Charlotte was swept in a doubleheader yesterday. They were beaten 4-0 and 17-0. Yeah, 17-0. -

Can anyone on this current White Sox team beside Cease pitch at a ML level of competency? -
4/6/23 Giants @ White Sox 1:10 Game Time
Jerry McNertney replied to wegner's topic in 2023 Season in Review
Going into today's game, the White Sox team ERA was 23rd in MLB @5.23. They should drop a few more places after today's debacle. . -
I agree. I think the White Sox and Tigers will battle for third place with records slightly below .500.

The White Sox over/under for 2023 wins is 83.5
Jerry McNertney replied to Chick Mercedes's topic in Pale Hose Talk
PECOTA doesn't think much of Vaughn. They have him finishing 2023 with an OPS of .697. That's real bad. -
I think the extra inning phantom runner is the dumbest MLB rule in my lifetime.

Prediction of Win Totals not looking good.
Jerry McNertney replied to AJ'S Cousin's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The White Sox won seven more games than the Cubs in 2022. That's not a lot. The Cubs were active acquiring very good talent during the off-season. Besides Benentendi, the White Sox did virtually nothing to improve the team. They also lost their best hitter (Abreu) and their second best starter (Cueto) from 2022. Thinking the Cubs will probably win more games than the White Sox in 2023 is not at all far-fetched. If you do bet your house, consider buying a tent as a hedge. -
Prediction of Win Totals not looking good.
Jerry McNertney replied to AJ'S Cousin's topic in Pale Hose Talk
If there are no lineup improvements made between now and the start of the regular season, I think the White Sox win total will be 79. I think there's a likelihood that the Cubs will finish the season with a better record than the White Sox. Oy. -
Grifol told Eloy to get some work in RF
Jerry McNertney replied to Chick Mercedes's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Maybe, if Eloy can play RF in a scooter or golf cart. -
Jason Benetti & Steve Stone back - options picked up
Jerry McNertney replied to South Side Hit Men's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Never liked Benetti with his generic radio voice and style. Steve Stone is 75 years old. That's well passed the time for normal people to hang it up. Time for new announcers. -
Gallo, a .199 lifetime hitter sounds like a perfect fit for this White Sox team.
-
Just what the White Sox need, another .210 hitter.
-
I'd like to see Ozzie back. He'd be good for 3-5 years before he wears out his welcome again.
-
I don't know if this person exists, but I'd like to see someone under 50 years old, a former quality major league player, and bi-lingual.
-
Who cares?
-
If the White Sox can split their remaining six games with Minnesota, they'll have a decent chance of finishing in second place.
-
Has Robert ever been 100%?
-
Unless they wet the bed in their six games against Minnesota, the White Sox have a decent chance of finishing in second. A second place finish would the consolation prize for their trainwreck of a season.
