What is nice to see is two low-scoring, close wins. The good teams win these games and show they are a tad better than the opposition. The offense just isn't going to be there some days, and when the team win these games, it sets them apart from the lesser clubs.
-
That's what starting pitching does for you. It also helps that the team has gotten contributions from unlikely sources at times. I was hoping that the team would just be in striking distance when Eloy and Luis return. If those two can contribute after their injuries, there is no telling what this team can do.

It's the first four game sweep against the Orioles in 60 years.
-
No, I guess we won't see you.

Okay, so many of Billy's ground balls barely make it out to the short stop. But he seems to have fun out there. For a fan, fun should be part of the experience. Shouldn't we be having fun? I love the chants.

This is a very good take. The White Sox have a history of doing things in a clumsy way. But there are other things to be more concerned about. At least Loretta was recognized for a time. Some organizations never recognize their employees.

I am with you. The '83 jerseys are awful and only remind me of the playoff loss to the Orioles. The Southside one is unique.

Actually, naming a storage closet after Bevington is not a bad idea.

Luzinski did play the outfield and he was bad at it. All I am saying that Yermin should be accepted for what he is, and if the manager has a problem has a problem with him, there are better ways of handling thnigs.
-
If it was just a matter of a missed sign, this would be a whole different issue. Yermin would not have been thrown at for missing a sign or ignoring a sign. Yermin critics also harp about his being late one day. Has anyone else here been late for something? For work? For an appointment? Yermin is far from a perfect major leaguer, but he has provided some offense that was lost with Eloy's injury. And I do recall a player who was a liability in the field and did nothing but DH. His name was Greg Luzinksi, and he played on the 1983 Western Division champion Chicago White Sox. I believe Tony LaRussa was the manager of that team.

Really? A wasted thread. We can now go back to our boring lifes. -

I would like to hear something significant, but I doubt that will happen. When was the last time Hahn said something significant? -
Engel To Begin Rehab Assignment Tomorrow in AAA
NWINFan replied to Kalapse's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I never would have thought it, and I have nothing against Engel. But I will take him over Eaton and Lamb. -
No, no AL Central team can say that, and that is why the Sox still have a good chance despite the injuries. Some were saying before the Yankee series that the Sox were the best team in the AL. I wasn't buying that. They need Eloy and Robert, but even when they come back we don't know how they will play coming off injuries. The Sox can win this division. That doesn't make them a juggernaut.
-
Hahn needs to do something. I don't know if he can get what is needed, but the attempt has to be made. He can just wait for Eloy and Robert to return. If he is serious about this season, he has to make a move. Bullpen is bad, defense is shoddy, and offense is inconsistent. A new manager would be a good idea, too.
-
This was the concern when LaRussa was hired. He had been away as a manager for a decade and probably out-of-touch with the modern day player. In a way, the world had passed him by and he let it pass him by. All of this has never been about his baseball knowledge or experience. Too often the White Sox hired people who were new to the job. It was about the type of person LaRussa is. We will see if he adapts as the season progresses. It would help some if he did. The Yermin thing was plainly mishandled.
-
Sarcasm is sometimes hard to recognize with the written word, but I laughed at this one.
-
No, no, no. No throwing at anyone. No brawls. This can only lead to possible injuries and players getting suspended. A team is supposed to keep the other team from scoring. Nothing wrong with the throw.
-
I couldn't believe that some fans thought the loss of Eloy was not significant, or they looked for a silver lining because he wasn't playing left field. Add the loss of Robert, and you have some big problems. Every team hits bad stretches. We will see how long this lasts and how things will be when they come out of it. They have been exposed some.
-
I never thought the Run Differential meant anything, especially at this time of the season. The Sox can pile on the runs one day, and get nothing or next to nothing the next. I'd like to see more consistency offensively but that is hard without Eloy and Robert and the fact that Adam Eaton was the solution in right field.
-
I know nothing about the Bulls, but I do know they have done next to nothing since Jordan left. And Jordan left a long time ago.
-
I have one question: If, in the future, a Sox player misses a sign, is it okay for the other team to throw at him?
-
To Vilehoopster: Yes, the stat is not relevant. A hitter can swing at any pitch he wants. Yes, I agree in that this matter should have been handled internally. Just call the player in your office and discuss the matter. A manager has a right to do this, and the situation doesn't get out of control. I am ready to on from this. At least until LaRussa does the next dumb thing.
-
This stat is not relevant. When a team is down big in the last inning, the best thing to do is get the ball over the plate. No walks, no high pitch counts to hitters. Get the at-bats over with as soon as possible and get off the field. This was just another example of the Twins being a bad team. They put a guy in there who couldn't even lob it over the plate. Regardless of this situation, it is not against the rules to swing at any 3-0 pitch. I am glad that Mercedes sent this pitch into orbit.

All this talk about respecting the game. In the past two decades, we've had steroid use, and a team stealing signs. Of course, there was also the obnoxious Sammy Sosa "homer hop." That's not showing up the opposition? Not to mention that I remember two times Sammy did his homer hop and the ball hit the wall. One time he was held to a single, and other he was thrown out at second in his lame attempt to get a double. Now that is some real major league baseball. I probably could come up with some other examples if I wanted to really waste my time. In this case, is it a matter that LaRussa just doesn't like Yermin?
