  1. I earned two Bachelor's degrees by working my way through college. It was a while ago, and I won't say how long. I had the following advantages: A state university had a regional campus a 15-minute drive from my home. I was able to get a decent paying job. By working full-time in the summer and part-time the rest of the year, I was able to pay for school, put gas in my car, and even go to a few Sox games. Where I worked allowed me to adjust my schedule according to my classes. I was able to live at home. Things are more complicated now. I think we should be investing in the younger generation. Instead of wanting to spend billions on border walls, we would be better off by having a well-educated or well-trained workforce. It would help us compete in a world economy. Afraid of immigrants taking your job? You'd have less fears if you well prepared to enter the American workforce. But that is hard to do with the way college costs are now.
  2. I think he can be a good game manager, but he would to have a solid running game behind him. He will not be a Rodgers or a Brees. But you are right. Greatness will never be a part of his game.
  3. I'm a big Trump critic but am careful never to make threatening remarks about him. First, the people who moderate this site wouldn't allow it. Secondly, I don't want the Secret Service knocking at my door. Thirdly, I believe in the democratic process not violence. A person can name-call or otherwise make caustic remarks, but physical threats are looked upon as dangerous. And Flynn is dangerous. So is the political climate of this country. All of this is a waste energy. There is no way this election was stolen. Trump was not any kind of victim. Time to return to reality if any of his supporters were ever there.
  4. During the last days of the Nixon presidency, many in the military will planning not to obey some deranged orders from a president acting under extreme pressure. So if, for some odd reason, Nixon ordered a nuclear attack against any nation, that didn't mean that order would be carried out. In fact, many times Nixon would go off on some rant and his aides ignored him.
  5. Thank god for small favors. Right now the Defense Department is not cooperating with the Biden Transition Team. Regardless of whether mere threats of overthrowing the government is a crime or not, we have a lunatic in the White House. And media continues to wonder of his chances in 2024. January 20 can't come fast enough. All of this is just another of how this mope abuses the power of the presidency and has done so for his entire term. His enablers only make excuses for him.
  6. Or we can just call it tiresome. Biden had been certified by the Electoral College as President-elect of the United States. In little less than a month, he will be the Commander-in-Chief. And all of this will happen no matter how paranoids scream their insane shit. In Michigan, there were these goons threatening violence if the results weren't overturned. If you add the votes of third and minor party candidates, Trump lost the state by nearly a quarter of a million votes. Yet, he was supposed to be awarded the electoral votes? You can call that a coup or just plain fascism. I don't care what lunatic Mark Levin says. The transition should be happening, but it isn't. Trump should be acting like a president. He isn't. But then again, he never did. And many of his followers should be in therapy. Intensive therapy.
  7. Flynn really needs to go back to prison. And stay there.
  8. This makes a great deal of sense. Instead of talking about law and order, open up the society with educational and employment opportunities. And you're right about the polarization in the United States. Right now compromise or trying to reach a consensus is looked upon as betrayal and or selling out. The government is letting its people down right now. Grandstanding congressional hearings solve nothing.
  9. Trump and the Republicans keep trying to say the election was rigged by the Dems when the Republicans did the following: Purged voter rolls whenever they could Had so few polling places, voters had to endure long lines to vote Removed mail boxes and boxes for drop-off ballots in the middle of pandemic Trump supporters tried to run a Biden campaign bus off the road Sabotaged the Postal Service in an effort to stop mail-in voting Michigan electors needed a police escort when they traveled to vote for Biden Went through countless and needless lawsuits that had no merit whatsoever In general made registering to vote for difficult And in 2018, actually tried to rig a congressional election in North Carolina. The election had to be held again. Spoke of having "poll watchers" go to polling places to intimidate voters and election workers. Had a plan to kidnap and murder the Michigan governor All of this and Trump still lost by over 7 million. Maybe the country just didn't want him?
  10. It's really not much. He and other Republicans should have marched into the White House and should have told Trump to get on with the transition. Biden wants to work with McConnell. We will see how that goes.
  11. Yes, good for him. We think are months away from seeing what kind of baseball season we are going to have and under what conditions we will have it under. Regardless, i don't see how we can have large crowds for some time. That would plainly be irresponsible. Sitting in the stands isn't damned important.
  12. What in the hell did Trump do? Other than spread the disease?
  13. I guess one big difference is at quarterback.
  14. While Fox doesn't have the greatest reputation, it is very careful about calling states. That part of the network doesn't let anyone pressure it when it calls the election. Karl Rove went nuts when Fox called Ohio for Obama and refused to change that call for Rove's convenience. The Fox said the numbers were what they were. If the Republicans think the system is corrupt, I suggest they come up with reform proposals to ensure honest elections. But that will never happen. Instead they want to manipulate things through force and physical intimidation. All of this for cry baby Donald Trump. No matter how many times he would ever run for president, he would never win the popular vote. The majority does not like him and came out in droves to throw his orange-ade ass out of office. And we're supposed to be persuaded by the pillow guy? He ought to stick his face in one of his pillows and never show it again. This has gotten way too old for way too long. This is not making America great again.
  15. I know our society is pretty sensitive and political correction can go too far. However, if a portion of the population feels hurt about something and all we have to do is change our language a little bit, I don't see the big deal. Baseball will still be in Cleveland. And no one is asking me to change my name. The truth is we had often used language to demean people and create stereotypes. If we have less of that, we will be better off. I used to work in the rehabilitation field dealing with people with disabilities. Not disabled people. People with disabilities which is not hard to say. That certainly beats acting like a president who cruelly made fun of a person with disabilities. A person who was entitled to his dignity.
  16. One difference between the Bears and Packers: When the Packers lead the Lions by 10 in the final minutes, the Packers win. When the Bears lead the Lions by 10 in the final minutes, the Bears lose.
  17. I agree with Two-Gun Pete. There are not two sides to the Trump election lunatic behavior. He lost big time, and all he is doing is destroying confidence in the electoral process. Regarding talk about Texas seceding. Please do it. I won't miss you; the country won't miss you.
  18. It is okay that you disagree with me, but I have the feeling we might agree on more things than you think.
  19. No, you can't, and there is no way those 126 representatives can be denied taking the seat they were elected to serve. They may be idiots, but they are elected idiots. It was a nice thought, however. Regardless, this is the political atmosphere orange-head and McConnell have created. Trash norms, trash traditions, and do whatever you want.
  20. One side effect of this is the president who lost by a little over 7 million votes refused to assist the President-elect transition into power, and he did so during a huge national crisis. And he did it just because his over-inflated ego couldn't handle the fact that his orange ass got kicked. The other disturbing thing is that there are plenty of people who still buy what this con-man says even though he lies every time he opens his mouth. If you are really worried about losing your individual rights or your 401ks or what ever, do you really think orange-ade gives a shit? Think again, or maybe think for the first time.
  21. It was a great read. The writer made two great points: The GOP's complicity with the "coup," and the fact certain things will become the norm. This was a clear win for Biden, yet Trump has neither conceded nor has he assisted in the transition. That, in a sense, is a coup even with the dumb law suits and blatant incompetence. The Democrats can't just ignore this once Biden takes office. Public confidence in the election process must bolstered, or one day a coup will happen and tanks won't be needed to pull it off. Trump has done an incredible amount of damage. The damage has to be repaired somehow.
  22. As far as I am concerned, Texas can secede from the union. That would be one way to get Ted Cruz out of the Senate.
  23. My point was that Trump's support really never changed that much during the last four years and that is one indicator that this election was fair and not stolen. Yes, small changes in close states helped Biden. But he won about 16 million more votes than Hillary Clinton. Trump was such a polarizing figure that he brought out a bigger turnout from both sides and it ended up giving Biden 7 million margin in overall popular vote. One other main point is that it is extremely hard to beat an incumbent president, and it is clear the country wanted the incumbent president gone.
  24. In 2016, Trump won about 46.5% of the vote. In 2020, that bumped up a little over a percentage point. Polls during his presidency showed his approval ratings from the low to mid 40s. Political observers wondered how he was going win the popular vote if he did nothing to appeal outside his base. He lost the popular vote two times in a row. What evidence shows that the election was stolen? There is none. The simple fact is that Trump performed up to expectations. There was no indication that votes were stolen from him or otherwise given to Biden illegally. Another simple fact that Trump supporters refuse to acknowledge: No matter how much Kool-Aid they drank, the majority of Americans didn't want Trump. And they won't no matter how many times he runs or if he refuses to concede. He will hang around and shoot off his mouth, but he will never be president again.
