I don't know how any president affects personal behavior, but it will be good not to have misinformation and ignorance coming out of the White House. Also, if I were Biden, I wouldn't occupy the White House or have my staff work there until it is cleaned from top to bottom. That would show this Trump-type idiocy will not continue. At the very least, it would show that people should not be willing to spread this disease just because they want to live in denial.

All the news about the vaccine has been great, but all this hostility and anger toward mask wearing is not good at all. It doesn't help that Trump is so anti-mask, and goes around saying the vaccine is an immediate cure. That is not true. The virus is still going to spread and it will be worse if the public doesn't want to take pre-cautions. As usual, there is no leadership coming from the White House. In fact, just the opposite.

You're right to an extent,, but someone has to be the symbol of that base. Trump is not going away after January 20, and he will use his bully pulpit to get even. I agree with you that the GOP has been hijacked by this nonsense. Sadly, it has worked to a degree with them gaining House seats and the likelihood of holding onto the Senate. They are paying a big price for short-term political gains. The country will suffer for it.
-
No, they have little use for democracy, and this is going beyond the absurd stage. But many Republicans fear if they don't back Trump all the way, they will pay for it politically, mostly in the primaries. They know how vindictive he is. You must do everything he demands or you're toast. Just ask Jeff Sessions and so many others. The Trump Administration should be assisting in the transition as per the law, but when has Trump paid attention to legalities? During his own transition, the Obama people prepared briefing books, and waited for Trump people to arrange and attend meetings. The meetings never happened and the books were never looked at. Transition? What transition? In this case, the transition process is even more important since it will be up to the Biden Administration to oversee the vaccine distribution. Words cannot describe how irresponsible this is. But the Republicans will tell you how patriotic they are. You can tell by the flag pins on their lapels. Regardless, you'd think that Republicans would get sick of kissing Trump's ring. Maybe they think the degradation is worth it.

Hahn is like every other employee who has to live under a corporate culture. He is going to be limited in some of his moves and will be outright over-ruled in other cases. LaRussa is a JR move no doubt. Eaton is something Hahn would do. Regardless, Hahn is probably well-paid and has to understand the political situation within the franchise. In the end, the measure of Hahn's success will be on the field, and Hahn will have to figure out how to attain that success within the White Sox power structure. just like anyone else who has a job.

Trump is lying the end. He has made outright false and misleading statements regarding the virus to make himself look good. He can't go fast enough. The public needs to be informed about the vaccine. Just like they needed to be informed about the virus before.

JR does sound clueless on Allen. Then again, Allen was on the club before JR bought the team, and so we know there was no Sox history until January 1981.
-
Actually, Trump was strongly hinting at not accepting the elections results during the campaign if things didn't go his way. Then he began talking about serving for 12 years even though the Constitution limits the president to two terms. I really think he dreamed about being president for life regardless of constitutional law. Rudy? He should no longer be allowed to be in public.
-
If anyone else was doing the things he has been doing, that person would be prosecuted. There is no way a candidate should be pressuring election officials. But laws and ethics don't seem to pertain to Trump. None of the lawsuits had any merit. It goes beyond silly. It was a farce.

I also recall the crowd anticipation when Allen stepped up. I know fans loved Frank, but the reaction to Allen was greater. When Allen struck out, he never threw a bat or helmet. He'd tuck his bat, under his arm, and stare out the pitcher as if to say, "I'll get you next time." At first , when he would field a grounder, he'd make the hitter run all the way to first. Then, just as the hitter got there, he would gingerly touch the bag with his toe. It was priceless. For those who remember old Comiskey: I recall a homer Allen hit into the upper deck. It was to the far end of the upper deck in left center and it was still going up when it the seats. There was no such thing as a cheap Dick Allen homer.

It would have been great to have Allen on that team. Who knows what would have happened? I was at the game in 1972 when he hit the game winning HR against Sparky Lyle and the Yankees. That was most awe-inspiring home run I had ever seen at that point in my life. It still is. There is no doubt Allen saved the White Sox when he came to Chicago in 1972. The team had no money, a shrinking fan base, and just didn't have the resources to compete as a major league franchise. Without Allen, the team could have ended up in Seattle. I believe that Allen has to rank as one of the greatest all-around players in MLB history. But he had other problems and it harmed his career. He should have put up numbers that would have forced a Hall of Fame selection. However, I am convinced he began to lose interest and his stats showed it. Players with 340 homers usually don't make Hall. Players with 500 do, and he should have had more than 500. I feel two ways about Dick Allen: I remember him for that great things he did and for the great player he was, and also am saddened because he could have done so much more.

I hope for the best for your father. This must be a terrible time for you. You're right. This is no joke. Hopefully your father is on his way to recovery.

Things will have to change drastically in the near future for MLB to have a full season. Many are still resistant to wearing masks and social distancing. Dark days are ahead and I can't see the season starting on time.

During the late 1980s, I worked for the Indiana Employment Service. Two Japanese automakers, in a joint effort, opened an assembly plant in Lafayette. They planned on hiring 2,000 workers. However, they expected 150,000 resumes and or applications. How do you screen that many people from pieces of paper? Something different had to be done. When applicants reached a certain stage, they were called in in groups of six. They were given a problem, and worked alone at first. Then the six, as others watched, had a discussion of how to solve the problem. Solving the problem was not the real key. How did the applicants interact? I remember one woman talking over people. There were two white guys who made fun of an African-American. However, what I really learned from this is that a problem can more easily solved if a group of people discuss it and reach a consensus. A dominating person doesn't help. Neither does racism. This is what everyone in Washington needs to realize. Power grabbing is not what we need at the moment. This country is facing real problems, and we need real leadership. Yes, I know. Expecting real leadership out of Washington is on the naive side.

Pagano or not, prevent defense or not, this type of drive should not have happened. Even if the Lions still scored, time should have been running out making the later stupid play call not happen.
-
All I know is the LIons were deep in their own territory late in the game and 10 points down. A solid defense nails that one. Easily.
-
You might be right, but they gave up a 96-yard drive in the fourth quarter with very little knocked off the clock. And Stafford piled up the yardage because he had all day in the pocket. I never thought this game was in control. I was not shocked that the Lions won. I think this defense is overrated. It tends to wilt in the fourth quarter. And Andrian Peterson practically walked into the end zone for the winning score.
-
Very true and why can't this team score in the third quarter?

Handling a crisis means effective leadership at the very top. The fact that Guiliani is just another close associate who has tested positive is one more indication of complete ineptness at the top. Then Trump uses his tweet to score political points. Maybe if more people wore masks in and around the White House, Guiliani wouldn't need a get well tweet. What a joke.
-
They won't but they should. This is a badly coached team. This is no excuse for this loss. There is no reason to keep Nagy.

I'm a liberal who has nothing against having a honest debate with a conservative. Hell, I might even find that I agree with a conservative on somethings. Not many, but some. Regardless, we all have to recognize that we will encounter people who disagree with us. Big deal. People are entitled to their opinions. That is why gridlock and obstruction is so destructive in Washington. In reality, we may find some real solutions by attempting to reach a consensus. That is a tough process, because we might have to admit someone has a point regarding some matter. Big deal. No one has a monopoly on the truth.
-
It is hard to deal with people who say things like the numbers are inflated when they have no proof. They keep saying or implying that the crisis is a hoax and patients in ICUs are actors. No matter how many stories are told by physically and emotionally drained health care providers, they still hide behind their denials. You can't argue with this nonsense. It is just too frustrating. And, as a nation, we have paid for is inane paranoia pushed by Trump. Oh, but I forgot. George Soros is behind everything, What a guy, that George is.
-
I am a leftist but I don't watch the View. The simple fact is Trump kept telling us things were getting better when they weren't. And please don't give Trump credit for the vaccines. He next to nothing regarding that and only wanted them out to enhance his election chances. And he acted way slowly on the Defense Production Act and he did little to provide equipment to health care providers. Finally, right now he is not communicating nothing to the incoming Biden Administration regarding vaccine distribution and also is not providing national security information as well. And if he cared so much, why did his family, staff, Secret Service Detail, and supports get the virus due to his negligence? Operation Warp Speed, my ass.
-
But Trump didn't have a half a brain. He saw the pandemic as a political liability, and so he went into a denial mode. And once he got in that mode, there was no way out. Additionally, even after four years, Trump didn't know how to govern. If he had used the power of the federal government to battle the virus, things would have been much better. We still would have been in a crisis, but things would have better than they are now. Instead, the deaths mounted and he lost by 7 million. His refusing to concede won't change that.

My daughter lives out of town, and she called today to say she doesn't think she should come up for Christmas because COVID is running rampant. We will survive as a family; it is only one Christmas. But she is obviously right. The COVID is running rampant. So what are some people doing? Giving millions to Trump so he can ignore the crisis and do who knows what with that money. He cares nothing about the mounting death toll. What a miserable excuse for a human being.
