Biden was asked about Trump attending the inagural. He had to laugh first. He often laughs when asked directly about Trump or his administration. There is good reason for that.

Republicans won't stand up to Trump because that would be "political suicide." Yet, with his craziness, Trump is risking losses in GA that would give the Dems control of the Senate. How is that for political suicide?
-
Earlier in the year, Trump said that if he kept the death rate between 100,000 and 250,000, he would be doing a good job. First of all, that is some range. Secondly, the death is nearing 275,000 and is climbing. I guess he didn't do such a good job. Tell me again, why 72 million voted for this lunatic and why people are threatening violence in GA over a scandal that doesn't exist. It can't be because he was doing a job. By his own standards, he has done horse shit and continues to do so. So let's throw money his way. That will help.

Trump trying to overturn the election is important because it demonstrates that he not paying attention to COVID, not that he ever did. But with a potential vaccine, Trump should be fully engaged with that and not chasing after fantasies. You are right the GA press conference. I am convinced that the Dems' under-achieving results in the election was partly because they got tied to the Defund Police movement. That scared people and made the Dems look like they were in with the violent protestors. If some gets seriously hurt over this stupid Trump stuff, the GOP will suffer especially since they did little or nothing to discourage this nonsense. It's one thing for Trumpies to yell and scream and intimidate, it's quite another for real violence. The Republicans are still afraid of Trump, but they are being afraid for the wrong reason.

Yes, the electoral college is ridiculous and needs to be abolished. There is just no need for it now. But the GOP is not going allow that to happen because they can still win elections while having the minority. It will take a constitutional amendment to make the change and that is not going to happen in the near future. We keep hearing how Trumpism is not going anywhere. But Trump was not able to appeal to outside his base, and he lost the popular vote two times in a row. And if his Kool-Aid drinkers keep using intimidation as a way to overturn elections, the negative reaction to that base will be even stronger. The Dems didn't do as well in 2020 as they wanted, but they made gains in elections in 2017 and 2018. Trump areas flipped. Trumpism isn't as strong as people think. Without the electoral college, it is nothing. And if someone is killed as a result of this ignorant attempt to sway the election, the backlash will be furious.
-
But many Trump Kool-Aid drinkers can. I just don't know where they are finding it. Most sane people don't know where they're finding it.

My nephew has contracted the virus and his fever soared to 104. He is really a great guy, but something tells me he didn't take this seriously enough. His 10 year-old son has it as well. Hey, conspiracy believers: This is real, very real. Put on a damn mask, and stop moaning like crybaby Trump.

Meanwhile, Covid, the thing that Trump said would end after the election, is spreading even more. And the sitting president is only trying to line his pockets and soothe his ego.

They may get away with the scam, but I really don't think this is legal. Campaign donations are supposed to be used for campaigning. The mayor of Whiting, IN, got indicted because he was using campaign donations to pay off gambling debts. It was a shame he did this, because he otherwise was a dedicated public official. But what he did was clearly illegal and he is going to pay for it. Trump has gotten into trouble like this before. Solicit money for a cause but divert it for personal use. That is why his so-called foundation got shut down. It shows the Trumpies just don't get it, and they don't get it on two counts. First, their man was trounced in a fair and legal election. Secondly, he is fleecing them for their money while doing nothing for them. One more thing: their man is nothing but a dictator. Telling a governor to "declare an emergency" is a trait of a true dictator.

No, it isn't safe to go anywhere, and I'm amazed that people get so hostile at the idea of changing their routines for a short time. They will be able to go to church again when things improve. A person can find different ways of doing things. My mother used to pray at home daily. I'm sure others can adapt, too. At the very least, don't listen to Trump. He has been wrong or has lied about everything. Just ask his family. His staff. His supporters. His Secret Service detail.

Socialism is a dirty word to most, but when W Bush tried to privatize Social Security, it didn't go anywhere. The Dems took a beating in 1994 after the Clinton attempt to reform health care backfired on them. But Obamacare, even with its flaws, is popular with many especially with those who finally have some kind of health insurance. All the dire warnings about Obamacare ruining the country turned out to have no credibility. People will be more open to government programs if they level the playing field some. Trumpism is not as powerful as some think. But if the GOP continues to enable him, it will be their problem.

Tax breaks for the rich, de-regulation, law and order, race baiting. These are all Republican staples. No way this guy ran as a Republican. But then again, his rally speeches never made any sense so there were times when I had no idea what his platform was. Distrust in the electoral process was one, but that was all he was clear about. His bid for re-election espoused no vision for a second term because he didn't have one. His approval ratings had been in the low to mid-forties. He did a little better at 47%, but Biden picked up 15 million more votes than Hillary. He appealed to his base only and lost. That was not surprising since his base was never in the majority in the first place. Meanwhile the GOP was left in the dust.

Mahomes has over 300 yards in the first half. Amazing. Also amazing this is the third tine he has done this in his career.

Your speculation about the Republicans is interesting. The party will never be liberal, but they may want to evolve in some way. I believe that identifying with Trump will hurt them in the long run. They won seats in the House when their leader lost. That should tell them something. Georgia Republicans fear a low turn out in the January election because of a loss of faith in the electoral system. Trump's ranting about a rigged system could hurt the GOP in this case and even further down the road. And it makes no sense. A Republican Secretary of State will not want to abet in the stealing of an election for a Democrat. The GOP should wake up. Trump will take their down their party down. Appealing to the crazies is not the way to go. There is another constituency out there.

Sad story. Way too young to go. It's time for Covid deniers to wake up.

There was a bar/restaurant in the town next to me that had Trump banners all over the front. After the election, the banners went down. At least one Trump supporter is facing reality.

The truly amazing thing is that many Trump supporters believe that there was a "glitch" in the election process and that their man was denied a victory. Of course, they didn't complain when Trump won in 2016 without the benefit of the popular vote. No "glitch" then when Trump won Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania by a combined 77,000. There was only a glitch when Biden took those states by about a quarter of a million. Then again, these people applauded Trump at his rallies even though he sounded like a blithering idiot, left them stranded in the cold, and exposed them to a deadly virus. Regardless, the whole act has gotten old and orange head needs to face up to reality for the first time in his life. Meanwhile, his supporters should start wearing a mask.

Biden doesn't have to "prove" anything. You're right. The state certifications are more than enough proof. The real lack of proof is regarding fraud. There is no proof that fraud has occurred as one court case after another has been thrown out. Another stupid beef is about the media calling elections. The media doesn't call any state or election until votes are in. And, in close cases, some media outlets won't call it like in Arizona and Nevada. Hillary Clinton conceded the day after the election even though she won the popular vote. Al Gore presided over the tallying of the electoral college and watched as his opponent was declared president. It is time Trump stop acting like a rich, spoiled brat and get out of the way. If he doesn't want to concede, fine. Don't just act like he is being wronged because he wasn't. He lost the popular vote two times in a row. Now, there is some proof. By the way, when Obama won his Senate seat in Illinois, his arrogant opponent never conceded. How did that work out for him?

Obviously, Hunter had his problems, and I am not defending him. Almost every president had problem relatives. Jimmy Carter had his brother Billy. Richard Nixon's brother Don had his issues. Bill Clinton came from humble beginnings. I just don't think Hunter should have been a campaign issue, and, in the end, he wasn't.
-
Yes, including the nasty birther stuff and ineffective smears on Hunter Biden. Talk about hoaxes, yet his supporters see nothing.
-
No, he can't handle facts. As far as the media being hostile? He has called them the enemy of the people. He has insulted and berated reporters at press briefings. Some in the media feared violent attacks at his rallies. His negligence has exposed the White House press corp to the virus. And it goes on and on. The media is far from perfect. It deserves criticism and has to be transparent. But Trump has attempted to make media the scapegoat for his failed presidency. As far as I am concerned, he was let off easy.

Had Thanksgiving with friends and family on Zoom. Actually worked pretty well, even better than when people were sitting around a table. There are ways to cope with this thing.
-
Maybe people wouldn't talk to him "that way" if he actually acted like a president. He just doesn't like when someone doesn't believe his nonsense. One day he won't be president and people will talk to him any way they want.
-
It's a free country, Greg. It is your right to disagree and have your own set of beliefs. I just rather not have Trump oversee our elections especially when he is on the ballot.
-
There's nothing wrong with examining our election process when it is warranted. There was no evidence of cheating, only Trump refusing to face facts. In the end, the only thing that was accomplished was that the transition was delayed because of frivolous law suits and baseless accusations. From the start, Trump said the election was rigged when there was no evidence. He was the one attacking the integrity of elections and tried to use bullying tactics to swing things his way. As for reviewing future presidential elections, I wouldn't let a tin horn dictator like Trump near the process. And can Rudy go away please? Too bad that Lindsay Graham can't go away, too. This was a sham.
