  1. There was a Texas case where a 12-year old Muslim boy built a wooden clock as part of school project. When he brought it into school, he was suspected of bringing in a bomb. The clock was taken apart and, of course, there was no bomb. Despite this, the cops were called and the kid was hassled by an officer. Maher was all in favor of this. No one's rights should be violated like this. This is not calling a spade a spade. And usually, school terrorist acts in the form of shootings are done by white Christians. Bill Maher. What a guy.
  2. I saw a report of RN talking about treating a Covid patient. Although he was in an ICU and was diagnosed with the disease, he denied having it. He asked the RN why she had protective equipment on. This kind of denial is hard to deal with. And it is another reason that it was good that Trump was defeated. We don't need this stuff coming down from the top.
  3. You are right about him attracting anti-Trump votes. At this point, Biden has picked up over 12,000,000 votes that Hillary Clinton. Yes, the Trump votes increased as well, but in 2016 he lost by almost 3,000,000. This year that margin is over 5,000,000. For all his star power, Trump has lost the popular vote two times in a row and saw Georgia turn blue for the first time in almost 30 years. While the Dems still had a disappointing election cycle, they still did very well in 2018 and won some down ballot races before that. There's nothing like Trump to stir up the base. There is another reason for the GOP to dump Trump: He is a dangerous incompetent.
  4. I had such little interest in this game that I checked the score the old fashioned way: I looked in the morning newspaper. Wasn't surprised. Why should I have been? Wasn't disappointed because I had no expectations to begin with.
  5. The problem has been in the making for the Democrats for decades. In 1968, anti-war activists came to protest the Democratic National Convention. Riots ensued and blame was placed both on the police and the protestors. In the end, the Democrats were tied to all of the violence. For years, the Democrats were viewed as weak on crime and weak on national defense. In the short run, it led to Richard Nixon, a thug who condoned and approved of violence against political opponents. Sound familiar? Anyway, part of this happened because the Democrats wanted to protect their right flank by fighting an ill-advised and tragic war in Vietnam. Now, with the BLM, the Democrats got tied to the looting and violence during the protests. As with the Vietnam, systemic racism is a complicated issue. But white people got scared and voted Republican. The Democrats have been a party looking for an identity for over 50 years. Imply that they are socialist and they run like hell. They don't know how to tackle law-and-order issues. They just don't know how to define the political landscape. They let the media and GOP define them instead. Liberal? Obama and Biden are centralists. The Democrats don't want to be called liberal. They actually might have to admit they're Democrats.
  6. I am entitled to my opinion on Maher, holier than thou as it may be. There is just a plain meanness to him, and we have too much of that in our current political debate. There are many times when I agree with him, but I just can't stand him personally. He has a horse shit attitude toward women and Muslims. Of course, no one is going to cancel him. There area many out there who are even worse than him, and they're doing just fine. Meanwhile, I feel fine not watching or listening to him.
  7. Bill Maher is a first class prick. I stopped watching his show a long time because I can't stand his simpleton bull shit, not to mention his racism and sexism. Jesse Ventura is another simpleton who likes to say dumb things just to get attention. This stuff about Antifa is more bull.
  8. One thing I can see about the vaccine is that the public will have to be educated so it is known what we will have to do protect ourselves and the rest of society. This is not a time for misinformation or politics. Hopefully Trump can be sidelined because we don't need him stirring up his base. The election is over. It is time to move on with some sanity. Hear that, Trumpies?
  9. There was a certain someone all right. Don't worry about him being on the golf course. The country is safer with him there. That is, except for his secret service protection.
  10. I don't know what pisses me off ,more. Crybaby Donald Trump for saying the election was rigged or his dumb ass base for believing it.
  11. I think this was the wrong hire for many reasons, but we fans are stuck with it. If there was any issue where the White Sox organization would be indifferent to fan opinion, this is it. We can only hope that the team has a good off-season and somehow things work out. But I am not looking forward to LaRussa pacing the dugout.
  12. Unfortunately, I don't think he will be, at least by his loyal base who never question a word he says despite the fact that he has done nothing for them. But Biden should ignore him. Paying attention to him will only give him more power. If I were Biden, I'd say no comment to everything Trump says. I have a strong feeling Biden will do this. He laughed off Pompeo. This con man should go away, but that won't happen. Regardless, I think he will be a bigger problem for the Republicans than the Democrats. The R's can't keep making excuses for him. Or maybe they can. Perhaps they want to be the party of Trump. But somewhere along the line Trump will do himself in. It is just a matter of time.
  13. So much from the right has been against social distancing. They come with this stupid crap that the radical left is not only keeping them from going to church, but this is a plot to destroy religion in America. In my wife's church, most of the congregation is over 50. Most have conditions that compromise their immune systems which isn't surprising. The decision was made months ago to hold services online. The congregation misses going the church, but they realize they have to put that off for a time. My wife and a couple others are visiting a member at a nursing home. Of course, they will be seeing the member through a window. The member is not expected to live past next week. Do these Trump-lovers think the members of this church like all of this stuff? Do they think that saying good-bye to a person through a window is great? There just isn't realistic fucking alternative to all this crap. There is so much insanity going around this country. We'd be better off if the Trump-lovers would wake up and realize their savior has lead them down the garden path.
  14. One thing both parties must do is make the election process as transparent as possible and then educate the public on how the system works. We can't go through this paranoid crap every four years. Trump needs to concede immediately and let the transition process begin. He then needs to crawl back into the hole he crawled out of.
  15. I guess this means Biden won. Can the Republicans tell Trump it is time to concede?
  16. Not surprising since Trump no doubt doesn't see any political gain for him. Also shows how much he cares for the American people.
  17. It's nice to have such great news. He deserves it big time. Love those home runs against the Cubs. He was devastating.
  18. Yes, this is a Jerry Reinsdorf issue. First, as several of us has pointed out, this was another one these "safe" hires because of the past association with the White Sox and Reinsdorf's personal feelings about LaRussa. But to me, the DUIs, important as they are, are not the only issue here. If LaRussa's problems are this extensive, how will they impact his on-the-job performance? I understand his Hall-of-Fame creds, but this still can be a major problem. Alcohol tends to make people abusive and doesn't do much for the judgement part, either. Many of us like to have our drinks, but we don't like making major decisions after having a few. The whole thing looks like a disaster waiting to happen. I don't think many things were thought through. This is not good, really not good.
  19. I'm glad someone is willing to help because we need it. Yes, Trump is AWOL right now, and the fact that the GOP is looking the other way is scandalous. Too much is at stake here. It is time for the 25th.
  20. Good suggestion about using the 25th although it should have been done the first day he was in office. But yes, he is no longer fit to serve in the office. A pandemic is rampaging, and he is feeling sorry for himself for getting beat in an honest and fair election. This is no time for moping. Time for real action to be taken.
  21. I remember a story from my childhood. A local businessman who owned a small convenience store ran for some office. He was stupid enough to vote for himself twice by going to a precinct outside of his home. One day, as he stood behind the counter, two nice police officers came in and arrested him. He didn't do any serious time, but his reputation took a beating. So, throwing away ballots, or committing similar actions carry a risk. It is a risk I wouldn't be willing to take. Finally, Donald Trump has been president for four years. Why didn't he put forward at least some suggestions on cleaning up what he thinks is a corrupt system? Because it is easier to moan and complain than it is to actually do something. Case in point: Coming up with an alternative to Obamacare. Never happened. Never will happen. Biden has won. Time for Trump to get indicted and go to prison for a variety of crimes. Time for his hardcore supporters to realize they have been duped. It's not the system, it's Trump.
  22. The system isn't crooked. There is no evidence that Trump ballots are being thrown away. There can be any number of reasons this is happening. People can't just "throw away ballots" without fear of prosecution. As far as his hardcore followers are concerned, nothing will convince them of anything except some dreamed up paranoia. If anyone is guilty of corruption it is Trump and the GOP with their voter suppression and sabotaging of the Postal System. And when a candidate for Governor of Georgia supervised the election as Secretary of State. Or how the Republicans awarded Florida to Bush in 2000. Then in 1968, Richard Nixon did all he could to foil Vietnam peace talks so he could be elected president. Now there is some real crookedness. It is also strange that the system wasn't crooked when Trump was elected when he lost the popular vote. To hell with his hardcore followers.
  23. As my name here indicates, I live in Indiana. I just e-mailed my two GOP senators and told them to get off their cowardly asses and tell Trump to concede. Biden can't govern yet, because we have only have one president at a time. But he can get things moving with a transition that is badly needed. What is going on now is insane. We are facing a real crisis and Trump and his supporters are wallowing in self-pity and paranoia.
  24. Greg - people can't just move to a state to vote, There are residency laws. This is the type of dumb stuff Trump people buy. Paranoid things are dreamed up and people go nuts. The people of Georgia have the right to vote in this election without this outside sabotaging making things worse. I don't know where you read this, but this is nothing but a bunch of Trump shit that has dominated the political landscape for the past four years. And now people are dying and the Trumpster is playing golf again. Over 240,000 dead. Have you read that lately?
  25. Laura Ingrahm had a guest that claimed he saw Democratic Party election fraud right outside a voting center. They put a shadow over to him and garbled his voice. His voice was so garbled that he could barely be understood. He then told a story that was so unbelievable it was totally laughable. It's amazing that Ingrahm can make a ton of money doing this crap. Regardless,. Trump loyalists are lowering themselves to do just about anything to support their man. It doesn't matter how low they go, or how they degrade themselves. And love of country? I don't see much of it. And where is Trump? He stays out of public view and hides behinds his lawyers and dupes like Ingrahm. Meanwhile, the transition is needlessly delayed and that puts our country at risk. Two things are certain: The Democrats didn't do as well as they wanted in the House and Senate and the orange man got his ass kicked. No recounts or lawsuits will change those things.
