Trump losing the popular vote two times in a row is not meaningless. As far the number of votes, turnout increased because many wanted no more of Trump.
-
I would want some sort of verification of this to even begin to believe it. I hear shit like this all the time, and it turns out to be fabrications. From the very beginning back in 2016, Trump has refused to condemn violence; in fact he has encouraged it. And he has had guys like Steve Bannon around doing the same thing. You want to be safe? Tell Trump to shut up and take the first train out of town. By the way, except for some rare federal spending, Congressmen don't vote to fund or defund the police. That is a local matter. And I do remember a president who pushed through legislation to fund and hire more police. That was Bill Clinton. Yeah, this was something out of Orwell all right.

Yes, it is over. And if there were vote fraud, why didn't the Dems get control of the Senate and why are some of them so angry about other down ballot losses?
-
Just like what happened in 2000. I wonder if Trumpies have failed to realize something. Their orange-headed hero has lost the popular vote two times in a row. There is no fraud. Just a bad candidate who won under an out-dated system. Biden has won more votes than any other presidential candidate in history. This stuff should have been over two days ago.

No doubt JR could care less about the media, at least now. But every manager has to talk to the media, at least some. But this the least of it.

The condescending John Feinstein can go sit on a tack.

I believe it isn't what the third party candidates propose. It is merely that they are not Republican or Democrat. Many feel that there is very little difference between the two parties and both are tied to big money. There is some substance to this. In the 2000 debates, it seemed like Al Gore was agreeing with George Bush a lot. The trouble is that voting for a third party candidate does little to influence politics in this country in the long run. In some instances they can influence close elections to a degree, but that is about it. They never develop and never put up real credible candidates.

I would hope at least some Trumps supporters feel that way, and I am glad that you are outraged no matter who you are voting for. But in Trump, we have a power-hungry person who is trying to steal this election.

All I can say is that the "Fire Fauci" chants at the Trump Florida are insane. All those people endangered themselves and others by going to that rally and then they slandered a good man's name. Just insane.

I'd feel better about JR inserting himself in this if it wasn't for his history. There was the Hawk GM decision, the sloppy firing of LaRussa, Terry Bevington, the Ozzie act that got stale and then blew up, and for some reason, the Robin Ventura choice. Maybe this will work out in the end. At this point, we, as fans, have no choice to accept it regardless of whether we like it or not. I am one that is not crazy about it. At this point, it will be interesting to see how this off-season goes. I wonder how much the LaRussa hiring will affect off-season moves. I am sure it will affect things in some ways. Hopefully, the team will fill some holes that need to be filled. For some who keep harping on LaRussa's credentials: There is no arguing with his past results. The question that still remains is he the right man for this job at this time. And that has nothing to do with his being in the Hall of Fame. We will see how this all works out. Right now, I hope the Sox can get a pitcher or two.

Jon Lester as a stop gap for only a 1 year Deal
NWINFan replied to AJ'S Cousin's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I think Lester is a class guy, and has been a great pitcher. But at this point, there is no reason to sign him. I could see him giving up a ton of homers at GRF. The team has already signed a multitude of players way past their prime. Let him get lit up somewhere else. -
This is a sad story and you have my condolences. People need to know sad things like this happen and how badly it hurts.
-
I don't have a person in mind except my main criteria would be that the person would have no past connection with the White Sox. This was one time that JR needed to step out of his comfort zone and not hire someone just because he likes him. What if LaRussa doesn't work out for whatever reason? JR will not be able to fire the guy for a second time. The team then will be stuck with a wrong manager. Maybe LaRussa will work out. But his Hall of Fame experience has nothing to do with whether he is the right man for the team or not. This just doesn't feel right. We, as fans, can only hope things go smoothly and the team progresses more in 2021. But Tony LaRussa would never have been my choice. Time to let the past go.
-
If this is so, it is not surprising. It is part of the organization's style. Make up their mind on one person and only give small consideration to anyone else if any. They did it with Ozzie, Ventura, Renteria and way back in late 1985 when they hired Hawk as GM. It is a strange way for a multi-million dollar organization to make decisions, but they've been doing it for decades. As you can see, they have very mixed results. I just wished they would have taken a different approach this time. The team has come too far just to do something on a whim. With Ozzie, LaRussa in '86, Ventura, and Hawk, when there was a parting of the ways, it was awkward. What will it be like with LaRussa the second time?
-
I've been a fan for a long time, so I am pretty numb to this. Yes, JR is the CEO and he can run the team as he chooses. I just wish he didn't make this decision.,
-
I don't understand this move. And like another poster said, I wonder if the FO really considered anyone else. We've all been through this before. A big decision with little thought.
-
The mistake wasn't firing LaRussa. It was hiring Harrelson.
-
This was totally irresponsible. MLB should come down hard on this guy and the players union should let that happen. So many precautions were taken to get this season in, and this jerk pulls this crap. A one year suspension sounds good to me.

It is mind boggling to an extent, but the demographics are changing there. Ted Cruz said as much after he eked out a win over O'Rourke. I think the whole South is changing. i don't see it much in states like Alabama and Mississippi, but the rest of the region is changing. It will never be a liberal bastion, but the solid GOP hold is slipping somewhat. The "Southern Strategy" that Nixon used in 1968 is no longer in play.

Clinton just had too much baggage. She's a smart woman, but she doesn't connect with people. People may be leery of Biden, but they don't hate him as a person. And Trump's rallies are falling flat. He's saying stupid things, people are walking away, and he acts like he would rather be somewhere else. This is the strangest election year. And the most stressful. I will be glad when next Tuesday is here and then gone. I don't want to hear about one more stupid poll. I will believe things when all the votes are counted. And I hope all the votes are counted. Do you hear that, Trump? You can't claim victory just because you may be ahead at one point. Even if you do, the claim has no legal standing behind it.
-
I have a feeling that Jerry has more good years left in him than LaRussa. In any event, I am not okay with LaRussa.
-
We have to be prepared for anything. Regardless, I don't think a candidate will be able to claim victory on next Tuesday unless it's obvious Biden has won Florida. Without Florida, Trump has no path to the presidency. I also think that Trump has had it and really doesn't want to remain in the job. In any event, I wouldn't put anything past him and he is capable of using time-consuming litigation. Let's hope the election aftermath doesn't get out of hand. If a transition is needed, it needs to be a smooth one. This has been a horse shit year. We don't need any more drama, and we certainly don't need violence in the streets.

My mail arrived at 8:30 last night and that was not the first time that it came that late. The sabotaging of the US Mail is a crime, and to commit this crime to drive down the vote is a bigger crime. We need major reform regarding elections. There is no excuse for this shit.
-
With mail-in votes, there has been little or no history of voter fraud or stolen elections. This is nothing but a smokescreen. I have always been more worried about voter suppression that happens in various ways. Regardless, I voted by absentee ballot, and I had a good reason for doing so. There was nothing unfair about it.

The main reason I didn't watch this game. Offense is a joke, and Nagy has no clue.
