  1. And Trumps says he has things under control when he doesn't. Or that he walks with a swagger while the rest of the world laughs at him. The con game goes on, and so many still buy into it.
  2. We were lucky before. Trump tried to talk us into wars with Iran and North Korea, but they didn't happen. The economy was good when Trump took office and it got better. But now we really have a crisis, and we see how this president has performed. He really is in over his head, and the country is suffering for it. That's what we get for electing a celebrity who had no real concept how to govern and has shown no willingness to learn. He shouldn't be running for re-election. He has already shown he can't do the job.
  3. The Democratic Party is supposed to the more liberal of the two parties, but they don't act like it. They keep thinking they have to talk like Republicans. In 2018, in my state, the Democratic Senator tried to run like some conservative. His campaign ads showed him with Trump. He got his ass kicked. If people want a real Republican, they will vote for one. This Senator hasn't been heard from since, and he is politically dead. Or at least I hope he is. His campaign was a joke.
  4. The article states how Giuliani is so trusted. It is amazing if that is true. Also mind-boggling. Same thing about Ingraham.
  5. For all his bluster, Trump isn't a decisive leader. He often goes with what the last person tells him or he takes his hints from Fox News. This is one situation he can't con his way out of. He can't keep lying or saying some stupid thing his base wants to grab onto. Tens of thousands of Americans are dying and falling back on his campaigning is no solution. It depresses me that Biden is our other choice. He has sexual allegations hanging over his head, and the guy says some weird things himself. But Donald Trump doesn't belong in the White House. He never did. It is amazing that so many thought he had real solutions to real problems. This isn't a reality show. Performing to get ratings is not going to help.
  6. g I'm wondering when this Tea Party crap is going to die out or when the sane part of the country truly catches on. These people are paranoid and simple-minded, and they all ever have done is shut the government down or fill the national political debate with garbage. And they are not the patriots they say they are. They wave the flag or the constitution around when they don't know the symbolism or meaning of either one. That's right. No one is going to tell them what to do even if they can endanger others. Their idiocy became old years ago. Hey, GOP. You have become a prisoner to these complete fools. You happy now?
  7. Trump keeps acting like this is about him. Obviously, it isn't. But if he wants to make it about him, he should do this: Announce that he and Pence are not seeking re-election and he will spend the rest of his term working on this crisis. At least that will take some of the politics out the equation. I don't care if he thinks he is going to win by a landslide. We are up against it now. Trump or Biden or anyone else are the least of our problems. People are dying and people are suffering. Do something about it.
  8. My god, this woman looks like an idiot. Of course, she would never protest racism, income disparity, and endless wars, now would she?
  9. Trump says many things and makes many claims. I have stopped listening, especially in these times.
  10. The simple fact is that the country needs a coordinated and well-planned overall strategy to battle this thing. The other simple thing is we don't have one. And we are not going to have one.
  11. It would be really nice to have some hope. We need it desperately before our society starts coming apart.
  12. The Michigan protestors are not really bright. A crowd and no one is wearing masks. All they are doing is endangering themselves. If they get infected they are not only risking their lives, they are proving the governor is right with her stay at home orders. And this "lock her up" chanting. Hilary Clinton's political career is over, and she has no effect on what is happening now. They complain about a too powerful government, but want to lock someone up just because they don't like her. Yes, we always have to be concerned about an over-reaching government, but this is energy wasted.
  13. You call it chirping, I call it expressing my opinion. And I'm not saying anything all that much different that most on this thread.
  14. By tradition, the president is the leader of his party. But the GOP has lost control of the situation and is not operating as an institution. One day, maybe even sooner than later, the party will pay for this and pay for this big time. It is one thing for a president to be a leader; it is another for him to be dictator.
  15. Make America Great Again. Fake News. Lame Stream Media. All catchy but simple phrases that don't mean anything, and I am sick of hearing them constantly. They were never that clever to begin with. And saying them over and over doesn't help address the real problems that are still facing this country. Trump didn't even expect to be elected. When he met with Obama right after the election, he was shocked when Obama told him he had to staff the West Wing. Trump had said he was going to bring in the best people. Where were they? Who were they? Vacant faced Jared? Dumb as a brick Ivanka? Crazy Steve Bannon? BTW, where is Darth Vader Bannon now? He has disappeared and has taken his doomsday ideas with him. Thank God for small favors. The GOP has to step forward, even if it is for political reasons. If I was a GOP office holder, I wouldn't want to be connected to this disaster. It can follow the party for decades. Trump is finding it is easy to campaign. It is much more difficult to govern.
  16. I feel so much better now. The light is at the end of the tunnel.
  17. And this is why I can't stand the people saying it is okay to open the country. These people are completely out of touch. This pandemic effects every family in the country even if no family members have come down with the disease. We need to stop people trying to make money off of phony products and we need leadership to reassure people in a realistic way. This is no time for opportunism and outlandish political ranting. Glenn Beck, My god, there is something wrong with that man.
  18. I am not really looking at this from the winning viewpoint. I would like to see young players get some time in, and it would be great to see baseball, if only on TV. I never thought 2020 was a championship year for the Sox. It was to be one more building block before everything went to hell.
  19. I would like it if you read my work too, but this is not my web site, and I can't directly promote myself. But you want to write again, I encourage you to do that because there are all kinds of benefits to it, even if it doesn't get published. I am working on something now, and I don't know if it will ever see the light of day, but it is helping on the emotional side. Reporting now is important. The public needs to be informed to protect itself, and the country needs to take this seriously. We don't need idiotic conspiracy theories. This isn't about Trump or Biden or either political party. The losses are going to run deep and some may never fully recover. The public should understand one thing: An honest media will have to report some bad news at times, and scapegoating does no good. And calls for opening the country up right now are beyond irresponsible. Some of these people have some serious issues.
  20. The Ted Cruz accusation was nothing but a sound bite and of course not to be taken seriously. Chris Matthews went nuts, started yelling how Oswald was a Castro lover and some other reactionary nonsense. I couldn't believe Cruz took this seriously, and he should have laughed it off. But it wasn't funny for many reasons. the main one being that Trump again was abusing his platform again. This is one reason that I don't believe much of what he says now, He also gives conspiracies a bad name.
  21. I agree with at least some of what Jack Parkman says, or at least I think I do. It is very hard to be a real independent journalist within the corporate structure today. Many reporters do not get to report what they may want to report. I am a journalist and have done a great deal of historical writing on the JFK assassination. I will tell you that no one who has a prestigious journalism job will even speculate that there was a conspiracy to kill Kennedy. They won't have a career left if they do. I read an extensive biography of J. Edgar Hoover. Hoover played a large role in the investigation of the John Kennedy murder. Yet, this book only devoted one page to the Hoover investigation, and it said next to nothing. I found out from a friend of the author that the author would never have gotten his book published if he tried to delve into the Hoover investigation of the assassination. Then the media went ga-ga over Bernie Sanders and his socialism. Most don't even know what socialism is. I swore they treated Sanders as if he were Stalin and the rest of the Democratic field ran for the hills. I'd like to know one thing: If capitalism is so great, why do so many people not have good health care? Chris Matthews was a big part of the political and corporate structure. Won't miss him.
  22. CNN, like any other news organization, is far from perfect. But Trump adds to this situation with his stupid tweets and anger. Not to mention he has no respect for the truth. For one thing, I am sick of the fake news slogan. Any time Trump or any Republican is confronted with something they need to answer, they simply say fake news and walk away. There is inaccurate and slanted reporting. I watch MSNBC, but I even I can see the bias at times, and some of the things they do make me sick. Really sick. I was glad to see Chris Matthews go. That man was awful. But if I want real bias and real fake news, it's Fox. Those people have no shame. They don't care how they lie or who they smear. And they are still not taking this crisis seriously, and that is dangerous.
  23. All I can say is that I am sick of Fox News. How many times do they have to be proven wrong before they shut up?
  24. It is terrible and I wonder if the idiots in Washington realize what people are going through. Losses like this are always hard, but they are even harder when a grieving family can't lean on other family and friends for comfort. We are living in fear and anxiety right now and we are getting no help from the powers that be. I have a BA in Political Science and thought I would pursue a career in politics. I didn't because I became convinced it is not a honorable profession. I am more convinced of that now.
