  1. Games like this fuels optimism. We need more of them. At this point, the left side of the field is set with Eloy, Moncada and Anderson. Then there is McCann. Now they need the rest of the team.
  2. The fact that he has some awesome power to the opposite field is a great sign. He's so young and just needs time. The team isn't going anywhere; it can afford to wait.
  3. What I will never understand is why LaRoche was signed in the first place. This weird stuff with his son had to pre-date the White Sox. If I knew some idiot player wanted his son hanging around the clubhouse all the time, I wouldn't want that player near my team. Sounds like the Sox front office was asleep at the wheel again. Thinking about 2016 makes me cringe.
  4. I agree with you that it is way too early to pass judgment on Eloy for the obvious reasons. However, I think some Sox fans are not realistic when they think a prospect will come up to the major leagues and immediately become a star. There are two painful parts to a rebuild: It takes time, and you never know how long it will take for any young player to develop. This team is at least two more years before becoming a real contender.
  5. Why Castillo was anywhere near the batter's box in the ninth inning is beyond me.
  6. Just when you start feeling optimistic, you can by a blast of reality right in the face.
  7. Why not is right. No more trading for prospects and no more perpetual rebuilding. Not only does the AL Central stink, a good deal of the league stinks. Give it some kind of shot.
  8. I agree. Watching a hitter waste two strikes with feeble bunt attempts is like watching baseball in slow motion. All players should be able to bunt; but many can't. Don't put a player in a no-win situation.
  9. I don't see the point in cherry-picking at Hahn right now. Here is my main concern: Is the current rebuild a real attempt to turn the White Sox into an elite American League franchise or is it a stop-gap measure or at worst a salary-dump? If long-term losing only leads to short-term winning, then it is failure. And we have no choice but to wait to see how successful things turn out to be. In essence the franchise has struggled since the Black Sox sandal of 100 years ago. I would like to see that change and change for good. Does the White Sox front office want that as well?
  10. For me there is one time you never bunt: The pitcher is laboring and struggling and you have him on the ropes. Make him get an out. Bunting and giving up an at-bat makes no sense in that situation. Ozzie did that a lot in 2011. He'd bunt and kill an inning just because he still thought he was still living in 2005. There are times when you play small-ball and times when you go for it. A manager has to recognize a situation for what it is. Ozzie was on a bunting treadmill. Maybe RR is too.
  11. I don't like some of the cornball stuff, but these broadcasts are well done. No more Hawk talking about the 1967 Red Sox or moaning about every strike-ball call. Stone's color is very good. Benetti comes across as a likable guy. It took a little time, but these two guys seem to be hitting it off now.
  12. Anderson deserves the award and has shown what a talented player he is. But he needs to learn to field his position. He should realize that making the routine play is most important. Get one before worrying about two. And stop throwing the ball all over the place. He has a lot to learn. Learn it. This is a rebuild, after all.
  13. That eighth inning was the worst excuse for baseball I have ever seen. A competitive game was turned into a complete joke. This is not a major league team, and this so-called rebuild is nothing but a scam.
  14. At the very least, an objective baseball person outside the organization should come in, evaluate the rebuild, and make recommendations. The White Sox just can't expect fans to have faith and be patient. This would be a logical thing to do, but of course it would never happen. And the fact that it won't happen leaves many fans to think Reinsdorf no longer cares about the team, and it doesn't matter how many of his supporters deny this. I was at the Orioles DH. I know the weather drove many away, but it was not fun to look and out and see the emptiness. What also didn't help, despite the walkoff, was the overall dismal play of the White Sox. The rebuild can no longer be used as an excuse for a lackluster performance. I've been a fan for longer that I want to admit, but I can't remember being this discouraged about the team's future.
  15. Is there some need to keep making the same mistakes over and over?

Exactly. Not to mention he did a terrible overall job in 2011 because he still thought he was living in 2005. Making a change in managers is going to happen one way or another. The idea is to make the right choice. Ozzie Guillen is not the right choice.
  17. You are right about this. This was a major screw-up on Reinsdorf's part. That was a time for celebration, but he and also Einhorn seemed to be bitter about things. Life is too short for stuff like this. Reinsdorf should have kept his mouth shut.
  18. He also became an embarrassment when he slobbering over a sexy Cubs ball girl and having her on the Tenth Inning show when she really had nothing to say. She had to be 50 years younger than him. He was a great announcer. Caray could describe the action in a rapid fire way during his best days. And he liked having fun even when the Sox were losing. He didn't do the Harrelson moping. His legacy is a mixed one, but he was a powerful presence in Chicago baseball history.
  19. I don't know if the Sox can realistically do anything this season, but I agree. No more trading for prospects. It's time to act like you want to win games - now.
  20. It may be a stupid rule, but it is a rule, and the players should know to adhere to it. This was a base running mistake and it cost the Sox a run as it should have. If MLB wants to change the rule, fine, but as long as it stands, it should be enforced.
  21. I agree with this sentiment. The team just can't keep losing. Fans coming back when the team starts winning? Maybe, maybe not. Look at the 2000 team. The only Sox team to win a division and not draw 2,000,000. Look at some crowds in September when the team was wrapping things up. Some "crowds" were under 20,000.
  22. I don't have any problem with celebrations; I just think there is a time and place to do it., And having said that, I think throwing at Anderson was bush. Back in 1969, many opponents hated Ron Santo's heel clicking. But he did that after the game, and the Cubs had won. Santo was far from my favorite person, but Cub fans enjoyed it. But imagine if he did that on the way to the dugout after a home run. That would be a bit much. I have no problem with Anderson's intensity. But intensity needs to be channeled. He has the talent to be a great player, and I wouldn't want anything diverting him from achieving that goal. Remember, the Sox lost this game. Finally, all these celebrations are getting boring. Play the damn game already.
  23. I am not for trading Rodon for more young talent. That's sounds like endless rebuilding. I know he has his down sides, but the Sox are already pitching thin and that is what is keeping them from winning. I know they may not be able to do it, but the time is to buy, not sell.
  24. I don't have anything against a player celebrating. Konerko raised his fist after his WS grand slam and there is a statue at the ballpark depicting that. I just think there is a way to do everything and I prefer a hitter to at least begin running out his hit before any celebration. This doesn't mean I condone what the Royals pitcher did even though Anderson got hit in a good spot. One other thing: The White Sox have spent almost this entire decade under .500. I don't feel like celebrating that. Finally, one poster said Mickey Mantle liked to throw his bat. Tim Anderson is not Mickey Mantle. He's not even Tim Anderson yet.
