Time for a change ... Don Cooper needs to go

Me, too. I thought the oxygen stopped making its way to his brain right after the 2005 Series. -
The Anderson Saga (continued from game thread)

How about this? How about having a winning season for a change? -
4/17 1:10 pm - White Sox v. Royals (Giolito v. Keller)

First, I think it was a low class thing to throw at Anderson. But I don't like theatrics. Sammy's homer hop not only got old, it affected his game. One time his drive went off the wall and he only got a single. Another drive went off the wall and he got thrown out at second. Run the ball out and celebrate later and play the damned game like it is supposed to be played. Like I said in another post, Tim is just coming into his own. He doesn't need this distraction. Secondly, he is still developing and still has to improve at his position. Homers are great but errors and dumb plays in the field are not. Tim can be a real star. He needs to cut this nonsense and become the great player he can become. -

In general, I don't like this stuff. Play the game and skip this nonsense. I didn't see any theatrics regarding any Harper homer, but I don't like the guy despite his abilities. He gets himself thrown out of the games and has anger management problems. Major leaguers are professionals. They should cut the showboating and concentrate on the game. It' s hard enough as it is. -

Not a good game. Even with all the nonsense, the Sox should have won this game and didn't. -

Game should have been won in the fourth inning. KC was asking to be beat, and the Sox should have scored five or even more to break the game open. Sending Abreu home was a dumb decision. Adam Engel doesn't belong in the starting lineup. He is a defensive replacement and that is all. Hitting Anderson was low class, but I really wish he'd quit the theatrics. He is starting to come into his own, and he should just play ball. Save the celebrations when you're in the dugout or after the game. -
Ultimately RIck Hahn will be judged on this rebuild. It's his baby. He decided on a definite course and has to see it through. Prospects have to be called up at the right time and then developed in the right way. He must realize now that big-time free agents will not be coming to the White Sox. So he must find a way to create a veteran presence on this team without big contracts. A lot is riding on this. It the rebuild doesn't succeed, the White Sox will probably become the Pirates. One thing is certain: this process is painfully slow. We will see if it gets slower.

Time for a change ... Don Cooper needs to go
NWINFan replied to SweatyFreddy's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Calling for anyone's firing is a futile act. Change just doesn't come with this organization no matter how badly it needs it. Might as well accept this fact as it is. It is bad enough that the team has go through another losing season without tilting at windmills. -
April 10 Gamethread 1:10pm first pitch

I remember a similar streak in 1989. Seven straight losses and the Sox were outscored 63-14. That team ended up in last. -

Anyone who thinks this rebuild is going to work is crazy. -
The play of Moncada and Anderson has been a source of great encouragement. Almost giving up 30 runs in a three game series is not.
-
I wasn't at the game, but could see the emotion even on TV. Sox fans often get libeled as fair-weather, but the ones who attend games show a lot of emotion. It's about time Sox fans get credit for that. It's also about time to let go of all the slander. It helps to give them something to cheer about.
-
The win was a gift from Seattle, but the play of Moncada and Anderson was great.
-
That is one excuse for leaving Lopez in. Not a whole lot behind him.
-
Lopez had absolutely nothing going today. Looked like anyone could have hit him.
-
I have one question. When does the rebuilding stop and the winning begin?
-
Anderson reminds me of Alexi. Alexi had all the talent, but did some real stupid things on the field and focus was his problem. I think Anderson has more motivation than Alexi did and I also think that Alexi stopped caring once the team starting losing. But now the Sox have had two middle infielders who have had focus problems. I don't know what that says, but it says something.
-
You're right on both counts. Palka is not a major league player. And Anderson has all the talent, but yet just doesn't show it at times. We shouldn't be waiting on Anderson anymore. He should be there. And Palka will never be there.
-
I don't see what is wrong with complaining. This will be the first decade since the 1970's that the team didn't appear in the playoffs at least once. And why should anyone be patient about a rebuilding? They are rebuilding because the team has been mismanaged and run into the ground by a complacent and aging organization. Also, by the way, anyone who thinks that Kopech will someday be a #1 pitcher is living in a world of delusion.
-
Some fans wanted the team to have some direction because they saw the franchise had no focus. Tanking was painful, but some were relieved the FO had a some kind of plan and were willing to stick to it. However, this is beginning to look more like a salary dump than a rebuild. The team is heading for its seventh consecutive losing season, and most of its future is hurt or in still in the minor leagues. I wanted to feel hopeful, not gullible.

I am a long-time critic of Reinsdorf, but even I can recognize some of the good things his organization has done. The early 90's was a good time to be a Sox fan. But then came 1994 and the White Flag Trade and things soured. So I think your attack on Lip is off base. What has been frustrating about this regime is that it seems to turn a corner and then things fall apart. A bad trade or key injury and all of a sudden it is back to non-contention. But no one is an apologist by being objective about the positive. Although I will say this organization fell asleep at the wheel at the beginning of this decade, and that is why the team is taking the drastic option of tanking as a way to rebuild.
-
The White Sox have hit bottom, but 2019 will be a very important year. We just can't keep hearing about all these great prospects. They have to get to the major league level and develop. Another 100-loss year and any other Kopech type setback will not instill confidence. Regardless, I don't see this team do anything significant until 2021.
-
I agree with Jack Parkman. The fan-blaming has to stop. It has been going on for decades and there is no proof it helps the situation any. In fact, there is plenty of indication that it hurts the franchise as a whole. I am a fan, and want to remain one, but I also would like the team to do things that instill confidence. Instead, many times I am left shaking my head. There needs to be real improvement in 2019. It has to show in the record, and it has to show in the development of young players. The team just can't say it is rebuilding. If you want fan loyalty, you have to do something to earn it.
-
I'm still a fan, but it gets harder every season. The organization should have changed things big time back when Ozzie Guillen was talking about fans urinating on statues. He should have been fired immediately, and Williams should have been shown the door as well. But that didn't happen, and before you know it, 2013 came, and the White Sox looked like a little league team. So, I don't anticipate any other changes, and I have only so much faith in this rebuild. And I have always thought this organization had no understanding of White Sox fans, and my mind hasn't changed about that.

KW: "It's a shame" the Sox are being portrayed as cheap
NWINFan replied to Jose Abreu's topic in Pale Hose Talk
If the Reinsdorf family keeps the team, I'll stop being a fan. I am not going through another generation of this inane crap.
