  1. Super critical of the mistake that led to the first single. Also talked about how he always gets to two strikes and then nibbles until he walks the guy and thats what gets him in trouble. Also a lot of passive aggresive tones on statements like "well let's see if he can get hit the spot here" verrrrry clearly implying he does not, in fact, think he will hit the spot here. I don't disagree with Stone on any of it, just shocked how forward he is being.
  2. Steve Stone is just eviscerating Reylo in a way I have not often heard him do for a Sox pitcher, especially so early in a game
  3. Nope, sorry. This is why no team that has celebrated a division win has ever won a world series. That's just a fact. In fact, I don't think we should even celebrate a world series win this year. We've all talked about how, if everything goes right, we might have a shot at a dynasty. Why give up any chance of that by celebrating after just one ring?
  4. Imagine reading my post and deciding the response it needed was, in fact, the grandal vs McCann debate.
  5. Huhmmm, interesting interesting. It appears the only threads that can avoid backsliding into a McCann vs. Grandal debate are nick Madrigal threads, which backside into nickname debates for Madrigal instead. One step closer to my unified theory of Sox talk.
  6. To each their own, but this is a fun hangout imo. When my friends and I hang out to watch a game we definitely b**** and hot take a lot (though we are not nearly as melodramatic as it can get here sometimes but echo chamber will do that).
  7. I am someone who welcomes hot takes, and I think the whole purpose of the game thread is venting and hot takes. But the best part of hot takes is pointing out how stupid they were and ho boy did it take all of 10 min for some hot ass takes to look so, soooo stupid
  8. Fun pitching matchup tonight. I've got a good feeling Giolito will have his A game tonight. Mize might keep up for 4-5 but I think we will break him open before his night is through. EDIT: My good feeling was probably the fact that he has been on fire for 4 starts and I realized that without realizing that lol. Not exactly a hot take
  9. I think the question is why is the net in-play for the ball but out-of-play for a player?
  10. I'm noticing an uptick in fuck words in the thread, wonder why... ?
  11. I don't know if it is the correct ruling, but either way that is one of the dumbest rulings I have ever fucking seen
  12. The right green dot is Nick compared to MLB second basemen in sprint speed from baseball savant. Slightly above average is spot on. I'd describe him as "quick" - he's basically the fastest of the 2Bs with average-ish speed, but there is a clear gap between him and the actually fast 2Bs. His 27.8 ft/s is a bit faster than Moncada's 27.3 (last year Moncada was also 27.8), but a bit slower than Leury Garcia's 28.4
  13. Did it work for Gio? The biggest criticism of him right now is that he comes out 50% of the time as a two pitch pitcher because the slider isn't working at all for him, and that curve has looked wicked on the rare occasion he has thrown it.
  14. Don't look now but Cease has a no-hitter going so far... ?
  15. More important than 0-3 were the 2Ks. If Moncada and Grandal had just made contact there is a decent chance TA finds a way to third and then home.
  16. I've plugged it before but there is a really cool stat with a really uncool name that does what you are talking about: RE24 (Run Expectancy based on 24 base-out states) Jimmy Cordero has an RE24 of 1.09 right now, which is ok but not particularly good.
  17. For playoff seeding/HFA? Probably not. Does winning the division matter in and of itself? Ask these guys: In fact, you might have to ask them. They've all won the central more recently than us, and the White Sox are the only Central team with no players on the roster that have won an AL Central division title*. *Somewhat hilariously, this would no longer be true if the Sox call up Clayton Richard to the MLB rosters, since he was a late season call-up for the '08 White Sox. Chris Getz also played 10 games for that team.
  18. FWIW, its perfectly normal and not a meatball reaction at all to experience anger or frustration that we are missing a pitcher we hoped would be turning into a future ace this year. What would make you a meatball fan is if you can't then put those emotions aside, and instead blame, judge, and/or castigate Kopech the person for making a decision that had ramifications far beyond baseball, and was completely his right to make.
  19. Are the Sox allowed to have players physically at the Schaumburg facilities that are not on the Schaumburg roster? For example, could they have had Sheets come work out and practice and scrimmage there without him technically being on the roster?
  20. We went 9-3 in the 12 game stretch, and still 5 left against bottom feeders.
  21. Going from Collins to Yolmer shows just how big it can be to go from replacement level to MLB average level choreography. No weak spots in the dance lineup anymore
  22. Best part of that catch IMO wasn't even the dive - it was the first step. It is hard to tell from the camera angle but it looks like he is basically sprinting full speed after one step on a perfectly straight line directly to where the ball lands. Incredible read.
  23. Baseball players are like saiyans from DBZ Every year they are more BSOHL than last year The worse they do, the higher their increase in BSOHL
