Huh, weird, I must be missing the quotes where they blow off what he said because he played for the Astros? ? -

While that is a fair take too, I was actually sort of saying the opposite. Dallas doesn't have a couple batters in particular that he is mad at, he thinks the entire offense has been unprofessional in their approach, with maybe a couple batters in particular that he isn't mad at. -

We may be over thinking this - he may actually have been calling out everyone, but diplomatically. Consider this excerpt from Jim Margalus's latest article: I’ve included the “excuse me” part not out of stenographic hardassery, but because it’s illustrative of the line he had to toe. He might’ve wanted to start the sentence with, “We’ve got a lot of guys with no detectable plan at the plate,” but the next time Keuchel biffs it, he’s inviting José Abreu to say through Billy Russo, “Maybe Beardo can give us a chance next time.” So Keuchel had to reroute and phrase it in a way that allows his teammates to self-label. The quote as originally reported to us sounded like he had 2 or 3 guys in mind, but I agree with Jim's take here, it sure seems like Dallas thinks most of the offense have been taking poor approaches, but (smartly) walked it back a bit to give some guys plausible deniability and avoid feuds. -
I'm not convinced that Padres fans aren't making burner accounts to occasionally make this thread when they are feeling down. Why do we need a new one of these threads every 3-6 months?

Why can't Dallas be a leader on this team? When he was signed, literally every single article, and I'm pretty sure Hahn himself, touted his veteran leadership as one of the most important benefits of signing him.

Preach Dallas. The role players - Medick, Leury, Engle, these are the ones who have been taking professional at bats. The stars right now look like they bought into the hype and think they can just hit first pitch home runs every at bat. How did Ricky go from benching people for not running it out to first to this?

IMO Engel DID know the situation. He knew there was no way the Sox were scoring 4 runs in the next two innings so he made a desperation effort to keep the game at 3-1. It didn't work out but I kind of agree with him.

There is a massive difference between .500 and winning 100 games, total strawman. Furthermore, I could actually accept .500 if it looked like it was building towards something more. This season has, largely, been an embarrassment so far, and the moderately ok record does not redeem how piss poor they have played for looooong stretches. This is a team that is lucky to even be sniffing .500 right now, and that is unacceptable this far into the rebuild.
-
That's exactly the point though. We didn't suffer through a rebuild for .500 baseball.

This was the first time all year a Detroit SP left without giving up a run.... DET has only played KC, PIT, and CIN...........

Watching this offense is bad enough. Hearing Tim in an ad say "2020 - White Sox are coming for ya" over and over between innings makes it a million times worse.

Well, I was still technically correct, and if I've learned anything from Stoney, it that technically correct is the best kind of correct.
-
Oh, hadn't heard that, how come? Is he still ramping up this season or something?

Anyone else think its absolutely preposterous that the MLB hasn't worked out a deal with TV networks to move up games threatened by rain? There are no fans in attendance to worry about, and surely networks don't love rain delays or make ups either. There are teams that already are facing double digit double headers in the next month because of COVID, and surely they are not the last. Not taking blatantly obvious steps to mitigate the risk of adding weather make ups to that pile is just fucking idiotic IMO.

The boys are seeing Fulmer well IMO, I don't think he makes it through the 5th.

The abbreviated spring training clearly didn't prepare his body for all the mound visits

Robert definitely needed a day. 3 hits and a walk in his last 20 at bats, while racking up 9 Ks in that time (ouch)

The Tigers went .500 against a scuffling Reds team and the Royals, then swept the abysmal Pirates. They might be the best of the worst teams but this is absolutely still a bad baseball team, and even if we are the worst of the best teams we should be able to win this series.

Maybe the real Nomar Mazaras are the friends we made along the way? ?
