  1. The real question is whether a 2 run lead is enough considering the pitchers left in our bullpen right now.
  2. If they want to give our fastest player a free base, they're dumb in addition to being cowards and, thanks to Sergio Romo, hypocrites.
  3. Sure, sometimes it works like that. Sometimes it works like Brad Ausmus, who is doing the exact same things in LA he did in Detroit. Sometimes it even works like Dusty Baker, who seemed to get worse every time he was hired. I'm not saying managerial experience is a bad thing, but even being a winning manager before doesn't seem to guarantee success, and having performed poorly as a manager before really shouldn't make you a more attractive candidate unless you can explain all the things you are ready to change in an interview.
  4. Omar at least has minor league experience. That isn't an uncommon path to the majors, it isn't fair to compare him to someone like Ventura in this case. Also, if a person has major league managerial experience and is available, that almost certainly means they failed in that experience.
  5. Agreed. It could mean he needs another world series now, it could mean he wants to maximize the valuation of the franchise, it could mean literally nothing.
  6. 3 batter minimum next year, so Fry better be able to start doing this regularly.
  7. This is one of the reasons I am cautiously optimistic for next year - the amount of negative WAR players on the team this year is astounding. Replacing them with even 1-2 WAR players (and therefore replacing the bench pieces with better players as well) could easily be a 6-10 WAR boost.
  8. He also gave up 2 HR on only 5 FB so he was a bit unlucky too (even if he brought that bad luck on himself).
  9. I'm curious what makes you say that? Moncada was asking for a broken finger with how bad his bunting form was, so it seems unlikely that he is comfortable enough with the bunt to just throw one out on his own (especially with how hot he is).
  10. Stone: "Amazing what happens when you let a guy hitting .300 swing away"
  11. On top of it being Moncada bunting - the man on 1st's nickname is LITERALLY MAN OF STEAL! just steal fucking 2nd Ricky, what the fuck are you doing.
  12. Looks like you're missing a K there, but don't worry - Gio has enough to share one with ya
  13. He was 40th worst in the MLB with a -1.5 BsR before the game
  14. Does Moncada have a chance to score there if he stole 2B? Shallow, but it was slow to get out there EDIT: Well now he definitely would have scored. DOUBLE EDIT: Well now he did score so W/E
  15. Do we not ever call for a take when stealing? Are the steal and hit and run signs accidentally the same? I don't know if I have ever seen a team erase as many stolen bases by swinging at bad pitches as this team
  16. That would probably mean no mega-deal this year though. I find it hard to believe you'd be OK with that.
  17. I'm pretty sure the opponents have scored every time Kopech has joined the broadcast this year.
  18. I am loving the Anderson-Abreu-Moncada-Jimenez line up construction. Seems like it has been working really well!
  19. I can and do deny it. You can praise him all you want. You get in "trouble" because you can't seem to praise him without slighting almost every other poster for not also praising him. After a bad May and a putrid July his stats were low enough to open up fair questions about his play this season. He recovered nicely (to your credit, you were on the correct side of those debates). He has had a good year. That doesn't mean he will next year, or the year after. There is no conspiracy. We don't hate Jose just because we are not opposed to moving on.
  20. Please stop implying that any fan who doesn't want to resign Abreu is suddenly dismissing his history with the White Sox. There is no denying Abreu has had an incredible run with us. Most of us will always love him for that. If you are a sentimental fan, that means you want him on the team forever. That is fine. If you are an armchair-GM fan, you are more concerned with what he will be over the lifespan of an X year contract than with what he has been. That is fine too. Fans approach the game in different ways. One is not necessarily better than the other. No matter how his tenure with the Sox ends, if I ever ran into Abreu in person I would giddily ask for a picture, buy him a drink, and thank him for so many great years. I also think the team, which shouldn't be run on sentimentality, should bring him back in 1 year increments at most. These things are not in conflict. When someone starts trying to say Abreu was anything but amazing from 2014-2017 (and still good since then), you can get back on your high horse. Until then, stop tilting at windmills.
  21. For someone who is usually an optimist, I'm shocked you are predicting a 7-12 slide against such an easy schedule to end the year, even if it is to keep with your original prediction.
