I think it just comes from his playing days as a pitcher. It is a bad stat, but it is the number one thing a pitcher cares about, especially in that era. Hell, he won a Cy Young in large part thanks to a huge win total.
I think after games that go 12+ innings, teams should be able to call up a 26th man, similar to how double headers work. I guess it may be logistically hard to get the player there overnight though.
I refuse to let any of the ridiculous Ron threads become the official Abreu discussion thread, so I am moving back here with this actual news:

No real shockers here, but it seems to be more confirmation that this saga won't be resolved until the offseason
"Do you see anything mechanically Steve?"
Jason and Steve are cracking me up right now. They are so thankful to finally have something in the game to talk about
I'm actually curious now, who is better at the opposite job? Position players pitching or pitchers hitting? Fulmer was out, but he did make pretty solid contact.
Asked and asnwered! Now that is what I am talking about! Fiercely creative, unapologetically brilliant, a fearless masterclass in ineptitude. Truly, a shitshow for the ages. 4 Stars!
Every idiot move Gabe has made tonight has worked to PERFECTION. This is some galaxy brain managing tonight gents. We are mocking him, but he is seeing dimensions we can't even fathom.
