Have you actually seen the video? If you think that is malicious, your mind was already made up.

We are so quick to whip ourselves into a negative frenzy when bad things happen that I fully support celebrating this small sample size by Yoan. May as well have fun when the luck is actually going our way. That said, if you (or the team in the extension hypothetical) are trying to put money on something, let's wait until at least May 1st before we start reading into the K-rate etc.

JB: "So the storyline could be that Eloy is bad in left now, but I don't think that is fair because there were two different shortstops" So the common denominator is eloy... But actually it did look like Rondon called for it and then bailed -

Even Moncada's K's look better right now. Good at-bat -
How does one do this? I am ready to not see his comments anymore

Perhaps I was sheltered, but I didn't even realize what dip really was until at least HS. I just assumed the players had gum or seeds. I think you can chill out the pearl-clutching a bit.

3/28 GT - Sox @ Royals (3:15pm CST)
gusguyman replied to Chicago White Sox's topic in 2019 Season in Review
He has been worth 4 fWar/ 6 bWar over the last two years. He is a serviceable starter too. Bad baseball take aside, how can anyone hate Yolmer? He is easily the most personable person on the team. I love his attitude and energy. -
Not to mention, they make the game more fun. You think all 30K of the fans at Kopech's first game were die-hards? That stadium was electric. I would love if casual fans started to come back to the games.

I grew up a Packers fan in Chicago. I am used to tough fan environments, and I still wore packers gear to school every week. Yet today, I am about to go home at lunch to change out of the Sox shirt I mindlessly threw on today. There are no Padres fans or even Cubs fans by me. No, I am just completely ashamed of this team, and too embarrassed to be wearing their logo today. Pathetic.

They buy tickets, so their opinions are quite literally the opposite of worthless. Your gatekeeping, OTOH, is worthless.

Good news ya'll. I just bought Manny Machado for my OOTP Perfect team. This means we get him today right? #WhiteSoxWednesday

I don't think they get rid of the 6 years of control. All of the rebuilding teams will be deadset against it, otherwise they would have to watch their budding stars walk away in the next year. Plus baseball players take a lot longer to be ready compared to other sports. That said, I would love to see them do arbitration in years 2 and 3, and then a 3 year restricted free agency period. The team still has control, but the market can force them to pay the player a real salary.

Plot twist: IowaPG your RL best friend, and his own source

My bad, I misinterpreted the first quote as you being mad about the offer itself, not the potentially false reports about it. I see your point now. The reports certainly make it less likely that we steal Machado for cheap.
-
These are two different points. If the Sox cap was 250, and the Padres was 300, then we were always screwed. Even if we bid 250 to start, the Padres would have come in. If the Padres cap is 225, yes they might come in above 175... but then we move to 250.
-
SD was out originally because Machado was too expensive. If they beat our bid, Lozano calls us right away and we beat it back, and then the Padres bow out. This is what Alonso, Jay, and a great pitch bought us - rights to the last bid. Unless NY comes sweeping in, I think the Sox are Machado's preferred destination. We have no incentive to bid against ourselves because we will always be given a chance to make a higher offer.

If you don't want to believe them, don't, but lets not restart this.

I think it has been made clear that the sources in the Sox organization of multiple people were very confident a move was about to happen, probably a Joc trade, and were surprised when it fell through at the last moment. Dave has gotten in trouble for scooping a potential trade too early before (which almost blew it up), so if the deal is still being discussed on different terms, I am guessing his source is asking him not to say what the deal is until it is renegotiated or fully falls through.
