We weren't discussing other teams. My friend only knows Sox business. Not a baseball person. More relationship management side. If I had to describe the way he/she said "this week" I would say that there was a smile and knew something was up.

We were specifically talking about White Sox signing Manny. I took it as some type of decision could be likely to happen this week. I could tell he/she didn't want to go any further

Trust me I tried to digger deeper into what "this week" means but I'm guessing they don't want NotHahn breaking news on soxtalk. Again very interesting but vague conversation.

My source/friend only knows about the white sox and are involved in the relationship side of the free agents and would have no idea about contractual agreement. This is a normal person and not a baseball person or writer.

I'm saying that is what one member in the front office is saying. As always Manny or his agent can drag this out or a million different things can happen between now and then. Just one persons opinion who happens to be involved in the process and met with Manny when he visited. Again very vague. But its something to distract me/us from the Bears.

So I was talking to a source in the front office and had a good chat about both Muchado and Harper. The conversation was more focused on the relationship with the White Sox and players/free agents wives/family. I really don’t want to say much but the conversation but it ended with this week referring to Muchado. Obviously it doesn’t get much vaguer than this. My friend also described Harper as very interested in charitable causes that the white sox are involved in. I guess he is very hands on in the community. Sounds like a good guy. Boras on the other hand has been tough.

To look at this from a glass half full prospective. Manny and his wife get to spend Christmas and New Years with Yonder and his wife. So maybe Yonder keeps the White Sox pitch going and talk more about a future on the South Side. Don't undervalue a comfortable family situation.

Now we sign Harpers relative and give him $9 mil and we are golden. Get me hahn

This obviously means that they are working on a deal as he would have no knowledge of other teams negotiations. Right? Unless Harper/Boras are requiring creative terms be included to all offers.

The Sox have definitely made an offer. Most likely weeks ago. These things take time to negotiate. The Boras little news conference seemed like a last minute effort to get other teams to come up. I think Bryce has know all along where he was going. Obviously he wanted the Cubs but figured that wasn't going to happen so being in Chicago is the next best thing. I mean Harper actually visited the Sox. It wasn't reported that he visited anywhere else. That absolutely means something. Not saying its a lock but unless we are outbid its most likely going to happen!!
