Madrigal: hit .340 in his first 29 MLB games = "His defense is bad and he has no power, he will likely never get better, trade him."
Vaughn: Has not even hit above A-Ball = "He's gonna come right up and be our DH and mash from the get-go. Bank on it."
Does this seem bizarre to anyone else? Am I mischaracterizing the arguments?
Sure, they were a high scoring offense. What they were lacking was pitching. But it's also true that the more bats you stack the more it can make up for some pitching holes. And Cruz is a big one. And 14 million isn't gonna pay for Bauer.
I would gladly take being the 1995 Cleveland Indians over being the White Sox of the last 15 years.
And the idea of Yermin and Collins getting "blocked." C'mon, mang.
Yeah, the seemingly common assumption he is just gonna come right up this year (and mash, too) is actually becoming very irritating to me. No 1 year DH is "blocking" Vaughn from anything. FFS.
The Show is great for an authentic experience but frankly there are so many issues with the series that after this many iterations are just frustrating and inexcusable.
There just seems to be a certain incompetence with this FO. And if this falls apart and now the Sox have no decent options left or won't just pony up the dough for Bauer or at least someone like Pax it is only gonna make the bitterness worse.
At this point I want to hear that someone signed Richards just so I know that were actually aiming for a better move.
Or... maybe it would mean they ain't getting anyone, lol.
Isn't that pretty much the case with Burnes as well? He has definitely shown he has what it takes to be everything he's being made out to be here.
And frankly for the return that was mentioned, I'd say that's a slam dunk yes.
I feel like while that might seem fair for both teams it feels too good to be true regardless. If we get Burnes I feel it's important to keep Kopech. If we can get this done without Kopech/Vaughn/Crochet that would have us all salivating.
I still doubt any if this is true, though.
What if... now just what if... all this "8 mil limit" talk is a smokescreen and the Sox are trying quietly for Bauer?
Don't worry, I'm not disillusioned. But it's fun to think about.
