  1. Even his career norms have been solid. 2020 was also an anomaly season and always a bad example in any argument (I'm consistent on that).
  2. I consider myself a stat guy, but when people simply narrow their tunnel vision down to WAR and look at or consider nothing else it is just worth an eye roll and little else.
  3. Perhaps you have Lance Lynn confused with some other pitcher. It's the only possible explanation for a statement so false.
  4. Definitely. I would just figure the socks would work hard enough to keep him.
  5. I really don't even see why Colome hinges on whether they get Hendriks or not, even if Colony isn't the closer she absolutely has a place on this team. I wouldn't think he would be too expensive, either. I'd really love to see them not only sign Hendriks but keep Colome on the roster.
  6. Sure. Just wanted to clarify. Dallas always seemed like he carried himself like a leader to me, but that's a little heavy. I really hope between this, Eaton and TLR we're not about to have a repeat of Sale's last days in the clubhouse.
  7. In terms of what? The Sox absolutely have been part of a losing culture, that's just 100% a fact.
  8. I don't think many people have actually seriously thought about a 162 game schedule with Renteria managing, especially with the way things were going.
  9. That might be the idea, wait and see what they do so JR can then make appropriate moves to carry out his alleged 2nd place plan.
  10. Obviously the pandemic is going to have an effect on everything, I'm not denying that. But teams are still going to spend. Someone is still going to sign Bauer and someone is still going to sign Springer and they are likely both going to get a lot of money. The Sox have been incredibly profitable lately and have been operating on a skeletal budget. If anyone should be in a good position to pay for premium free agent, the Sox have to be towards the top. They also lose some points on the benefit of the doubt because we know how cheap JR is and has been.
  11. You have absolutely no idea that you are proving my point.
  12. 100% The problem in this situation is the pandemic gives them a glowing excuse to cry poor that a lot of people will be too oblivious to question or see through.
  13. Now that I think about it, what are the odds they both get injured? I haven't seen Ozuna field much but didn't he win a GG? The idea he could be worse than Eloy in the field seems hard to believe.
  14. Ozuna and Eloy sharing LF/DH? Sounds good to me! But is Ozuna really expected to command that much less than Springer?
  15. I agree but obviously this is all based on skepticism Sox will go this route with anyone. I don't know what Kluber would command, you think this is realistic?
  16. That's a good question. Vaughn isn't going to be ready this year; I would think there have to be a few options but is there reason to think he would insist on 2 years? I wouldn't think so. More than anything I would kick myself for not optimizing. Didn't think DH would end up possibly being one of our holes next year.
  17. I agree. I love me some Brantley but he'd basically be a DH. But... don't we need one? Because assuming we are not getting Springer, Eloy is definitely staying in LF. Cruz?
  18. If it ends up being Hendriks and Q I don't know how I'll feel about that. Theoretically it's an improvement but does that really move the needle enough? Do we need to put money into a closer with Colome (would be a cheaper re-sign, yes?) and Bummer on this team? Wouldn't Bauer be the better go-get?
  19. If those "moves" include Bauer or Hendriks and a bullpen bolstering then I'm fine with it. But deep down I know most of us aren't holding our breath at all.
  20. If I'm being honest, stats from 2020 REALLY need to stop being used so fervently in arguments about player production. It was 60 games, it's not an adequate sample size.
  21. How about you just point me to the right post? LOL. And it's a rhetorical question anyway.
