It's hard not to be united on something so common sense. Luckily the few who are missing it seem to be far and few in between but just that little bit is brutal to see.
-
Absolutely not. You don't get credit for making a bad move and being lucky. Because good decisions are based on thought process, not results. A bad decision can sometimes lead to a good result. Constant bad decisions lead to constant bad results. This is an absolute fact of logic and reasoning whether you understand it or not. If you keep applying your rationalle to other things in life you will quickly find yourself looking outright stupid. And sadly there are plenty more (many on this board as well) who apply this same thought process to everything. No one is foolish; you just don't have a clue what you are talking about. And that's ok. Also, find it funny you're worried about someone breaking Yermin's hand in retaliation for something yet justify someone possibly doing just that because Yermin did exactly what he is supposed to do, and that is score runs. You never stop trying. TLR's thought process is outdated bullshit. Cognitive dissonance is a funny thing. And I never got an answer of what you think of TLR's comment about throwing 3 pitchers out there to concede outs. Sure, that's one example but in terms of examples, that's a pretty catastrophic one.
-
Now I'm gonna shape up you group of pussies.
-
We need more people acknowledging that. Whether Yermin saw this (supposed) sign or not, telling your best hitter to take a 3-0 pitch is dumb, especially for the antiquated reason he gave.
-
Because it's convoluted and nonsensical.
-
I at least am open to discussing these things. If we want to be progressive here, let's not be half pregnant.
-
The second I hear someone use the term, "pussification" I pretty much know I'm dealing with a person who is not exactly thoughtful. Like... do you really think a manager who actually says they should send 3 pitchers up to purposely make outs is actually in touch with today's game? Do you not even grasp the basic concept that the game has drastically changed? "Take responsibility" for fucking what??? Playing the game to win? Players are trying to make money, hone their stats and legacies and do everything they can to win. That includes scoring every fucking run you can. So playing the game to the best of your ability to you in some situations is disrespect and deserves a potentially crippling injury from a projectile hitting them at high velocity? This is stupid fucking caveman bullshit and nothing more. The only one whose arguments are ridiculous is you and that is a fact.

Hearing Sabathia shred LaRussa today was very therapeutic. If only the attention could lead to something...
-
Calling criticism of LaRussa "ageism" is ignorant as fuck. Frankly, it's obvious you are not knowledgeable about baseball, you're the quintessential casual fan who doesn't actually think about what he is watching. And we'll stop criticizing him when he stops being a pimple on the ass of this team, how about that?
-
Doesn't really matter, the point should have been received. At the very least the person I was arguing with could have acknowledged that the poster that prompted my response was being ridiculous, but too many people would rather play childish games. "I think you were wrong about something so I won't say you were right about something." Nice logical fallacy; with that rationale no one will ever have a valid point.
-
Like I said, this is all arbitrary nonsense and for it to be a perpetual hill that some people want to die on is so utterly mind-boggling.
-
I don't have words.
-
Wait... what? I saw that quoted somewhere and thought it was a satire thing. He actually said that???
-
Because there is none. It's arbitrary nonsense.
-
As I've already stated, clearly the point of bringing that up either went over everyone's head or they just want to play stupid and act like they don't know why I said it so... ?♂️
-
One of the points I forgot to make. There's all sorts of holes in Tony's logic. This is the power a philosophy can have in indoctrinating someone, that common sense just goes out the window.
-
No one is arguing that you could face consequences or what the consequences are, we grasp that. The point is that those consequences are bullshit, as is TLR's asinine and completely arbitrary idea of "sportsmanship." Just because someone has authority doesn't make them right, FFS.
-
No is saying baseball in the 70's, 80's or 90's was shit. They are (correctly) saying THIS ISN'T THE 70'S, 80'S OR 90'S ANYMORE.
-
He's being sarcastic. None of TLR's "decades" have included the last decade, in which numerous aspects of baseball have drastically changed, and he has not grasped any of them. However long he managed has fuck all to do with how baseball functions NOW. This is not complicated.
-
You managed to completely miss the point of the only sentence of mine you actually quoted. Wow. He is literally asking a player to draw an arbitrary line of how many runs is "too many" and once you cross that line, whelp... it's punishment time. And he stated that is for the player to decide so he contradicted himself. No, sportsmanship is not asinine. But sportsmanship has nothing at all to fucking do with the point I made. At all. You just saw a word you liked and fixated on it like a kindergartener.
-
LaRussa is the one who handled the situation like a "pussy." I forget who, but another poster nailed it earlier by saying that unwritten rules are normally coming from a Neanderthal type of mindset and encourage aggression yet LaRussa basically apologized to the other team for them hitting HIS player, which makes HIM look weak. This whole "debate" is ridiculous. There is no debate. You are not only playing for your stats, performance and money but to win the game. You score as many runs as you can, it's not over until it is over. For TLR to LITERALLY say, "If you think you need more runs then push but if not then show sportsmanship" is fucking asinine because it indicates there must be some arbitrary number. Who the hell is to say what number that is? So Yermin could just say, "I think we needed more." The premise is fucking stupid and is technically a contradiction. Defending TLR at this junction is just sheer ignorance and lack of thinking.
-
If you actually analyze it then it definitely raises some good benefits.
-
This is literally one of the most arbitrary, twisted, nonsensical pieces of mental gymnastics I have ever read. Good God.
-
Step 1: Misquote me. Step 2: Troll me rather than acknowledge that you misquoted me when called out for it or provide an example. Result: prove my point. (Please point out where I called anyone stupid. As per the usual with my "fans" here, I'm sure there will be not only no example, but no acknowledgement)

There is a solid consistency of people who come at me claiming I said things I never did. There are a lot of intelligent posters here. There are also a slew of people who apparently are incapable of reading comprehension and have to mischaracterize arguments to create an imaginary leg to stand on. @southsider2k5 also, as expected, once again failed to answer simple yes or no questions because he cannot admit my criticism was correct. That's bias, something I do not show. You ask me a question, I'm not going to be a coward and hide. Once someone poses a direct question to you and you fail to answer and then have to try to ask counter-questions to make yours seem to take precedence... you lost the argument. Fucking period. A lot of people seem to just want to argue just to argue around here. Excuse the shit out of me for wanting it to actually go somewhere and make sense.
