The Wainwright to the Cards Thread
EloyJenkins replied to Chicago White Sox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Hendriks is much more important to winning a world series than a #4 starter they need for half a season. Unless Kopech gets traded...they want him as part of the team. Everything changed when they got Katz. He believes in Cease clearly. -
Vaughn spent last summer hitting against all the Sox best pitching prospects on a daily basis. To me...that is even MORE invaluable than a bunch of has been 30+ year old junkballers in AAA. He is ready. He is smash. He excite.

If they get cruz...mendick and leury would be just fine

the old Corbin Burnes thread, we have a new Burnes thread
EloyJenkins replied to bmags's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Sorry, i wrote that wrong...If Wainright is healthy...I don't see him getting taken out of rotation...not his results. This is one of those stubborn TLR type things I could see..."not removing my guy" whatever the results are. As others have said...this means Cease is pitching well though, so it's a good thing. -

I like the idea of Wainwright...except if he looks good, no way TLR goes to Kopech when he is ready. They need to do 1of 2 things...Sign or trade for a stud (Kopech is in purgatory or traded) or find a Starter for 3 months (honestly why most would choose another team). Tough place to be. -
Dodgers sign Bauer (3/102, opt-outs, 40-45-17)
EloyJenkins replied to Jose Abreu's topic in The Diamond Club
With news that Dodgers wanna go short term...that makes this tough. Here is my best proposal that would be really hard to say no to if he wants to win: 3 years/100 million guaranteed. 5 million bonus for winning Cy Young each season. Year 4 automatically vests if he wins one of those Cy Youngs at 38 million with an opt out option. This makes him the highest paid AAV each season if he wins the Cy Young but also limits the years...and if he is crushing it you Gladly pay that 4th year price or he decides it's time for one more payday elsewhere. TREVOR...just do it. Win a Cy Young, be the highest paid pitcher. Spit in Cole's face as you help lead Sox to one or two world series championships. -

This was always a far fetched rumor. But I am glad that some are finally defending Kopech. He WILL BE the Sox #2 starter by 2022. Unless it's third because...Bauer. -
George Springer to Toronto. 6 years/150 million
EloyJenkins replied to Buehrle>Wood's topic in Pale Hose Talk
But is is bad. Please show a 5+ year deal in the 31-36 age range that has aged well (without steroids)? He will be immense value the first 2 years of the contract...and then the rest will turn to atrocious. He also is also a cheater. The sox need payroll flexibility to keep pitching, and once they found out his exact asks...they moved on. -

This contract is DUMB. Say what you will about the Sox being cheap...but at least they are not reckless. This is higher than he should have gotten in a normal off-season. Those last 2-3 years will be bad. -

Agreed. Trading Madrigal would be a coup of epic proportions. Honestly, I think Madrigal, Heuer and Lopez would be highway robbery for the Brewers. -

I was once again going to tell everyone to stop getting so excited...this is a pipe dream...and then raBBit had to come comment on the thread. -

Seriously. If sox get burnes (they aren't) its either Kopech or Vaughn going. Otherwise Hahn proves he is still the master and preller is just a padawan. -

Are the White Sox "done" making moves until spring training?
EloyJenkins replied to VAfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
If people loved taking chances with Kluber...isn't Paxton a similar style high risk/high reward option? Also, he should be available easily on a one year prove it deal allowing Kopech to slide in around June/July. Good article from a yankees perspective right before they signed Klubot. https://www.pinstripealley.com/2021/1/15/22231536/yankees-mlb-offseason-free-agency-starting-pitcher-corey-kluber-james-paxton-injured-list I do like that Paxton hit 94mph in December. Sox don't need him to be healthy for a whole season, so maybe he is a good get before he flames out. -

This is not knee-jerk. For over a month now you have just added putrid vitriol to every post. Even when the Sox make moves, you are there to pile on more criticism. The fact is that only a handful of teams this offseason have made their teams better and spent money or made significant trades. The Sox are one of them. Do we need to like all their moves...no. But to constantly harp on things you have no real knowledge of like it's owed to you is just silly. I would love to have seen your reaction to the 2004 offseason. you probably shit on Podsednik and the moves made ad nauseum. There is still time for the roster to be complete...but this board would be a whole lot better if every 5th post wasn't just a total shit on JR, Hahn or payroll. This is a world championship competing team, whether we agree with that or not. -
Stalking and Sexual Assault. Dick pics are not harmless. It is NO different than whipping it out in person. The expectation is that you are forcing yourself on that individual. Porter is TOAST in this league.

Looks like porter came up short.

true, the team that looks like the clear division winner and probably the best team in the AL. (Yankees v Sox is debatable) Go be a Twins fan and see how they feel right now. I need to learn how to find that ignore button quick. -
Another quantity over quality trade. Imagine have that deep of a top 30 to be able to do three trades this off-season. Padres are the team to beat in all of MLB now. Dodgers/Padres is gonna be a war the next few seasons. I wasn't a huge Musgrove guy so no big deal honestly.
-
Agreed. And since he lives on east coast it probably would have cost more like 13 to sway him. For 8-9 he was a no brainier, anything over 12 just is a big risk. I know he looked great at showcase....but no one has ever had this injury before and pitched after, right? Lots of what ifs. I really think Sox want to give Kopech a chance. Kopech for half a season could be dynamic. And for fiscal responsibility you have to give Cease a full season under Katz. That allows Gio to get an extension and potentially Lynn as well.
-
50% chance that he is super mediocre this season. I was about sox signing him, but this could blow up for the yankees also. Beauty of sox signing him was Kopech in the wings. What do yankees have?
