  1. In nearly every game thread last year, it was fear, worry and b****ing in the 9th inning and then relief. Sign Hendriks and that goes away. Will it be an overpay...of course. FA relievers are the always overpaid...but if the money is going to be spent...get the best available. With the in-house options and Hendriks added this team becomes stronger.
  2. do you ever have a positive take on anything?
  3. If you told me before this all went down...you will get A. Springer and a cheap Starter (project or Gio type) B. Bauer and almost nothing other than a really cheap RF, or C. Lynn, Eaton, Hendricks and potentially Brantley for DH... I think it starts to look like a better plan. I dislike the Eaton deal because I think he could have been had cheaper, but 4 players compared to 2 could work and fills in the holes
  4. If the window is open...stop window shopping at dollar general.
  5. I'm not mad. I'm just confused. Why sign this now when he could have been cheaper later on FA? Unless this is to save money for a big Starter, I just don't get it. As a player he is fine. As an organization move, it's just kindy icky
  6. Agreed 100% on those other pitching deals. Dunning was really the ONLY expendable pitcher with value since Katz is adamant about keeping Cease (Which means they see something major). Kopech and Vaugn should be untouchable, except for Woodruff, DeGrom or maybe Gallen. This trade becomes a slam dunk if they sign Bauer...but, yeah, not gonna happen.
  7. Lynn will pitch 200 innings, Dunning will pitch 130. I don't buy WAR being that close.
  8. LOVE the idea of rework his deal for this year. 3/45-50 is perfect. Also still allows for another starter signing and gives you a strong 3 year window with everyone on board, while still allowing the future to get it figured out (Crochet, Dalquist, Kelley).
  9. I want to ask a serious question. In 2022 do you think Dunning's spot in the rotation would have been ahead of Kopech, Crochet, or Cease based on talent and Katz's influence?
  10. The beauty of this deal...they compete at a high level in 21 and we see if Katz can salvage Cease. Cease has TOR potential. Dunning really doesnt. And Kopech is back and doesn't need to be overused next season If paired with a cheap vet. Dunning was only ever going to be the #5 on this team if the blue chips reach their expected ceiling. Losing Value on a prospect is similar to overspending on a FA in a lot of ways.
  11. One thing to add to this...with next year's rotation... What FA would not want to sign with the white sox now? If I am Bauer this would jazz me up. Not saying they get springer or Bauer out of this.... But it shows the teams window is exactly right now. As a fan that is exciting.
  12. The beauty is an extension for 2 seasons should be very reasonable money wise as well. That is the silver lining to this. 5 years of dunning for 3 of Lynn eases the blow to all those whining.
  13. Adam eaton for Giolito, Lopez and a year of Lance Lynn in a contending season. I'll take that return.
  14. A win now move without giving up Vaughn or kopech is huge. Not the return I was hoping for Dane, but this makes them favorites for the division and with another move or two they are legit series contenders. I applaud the stones, I just hope lynn extends another season or two to get some value back
  15. We are all living inside her bootyhole, hence why 2020 has been absolute shit.
  16. This is the absolute truth. A great family friend is his cousin. They have a large, great family.
  17. This list really goes to show how well they have drafted the last 2 years. That list is pretty solid.
  18. If that happens, then yes we should be upset about this franchise. But if his agent is telling teams he wants to be a leadoff and CF first, we as realistic fans should never expect JR to drop extra bags of money to sway anyone. I personally think 25 mil per season for him is too much on a 5 year deal and most other teams must as well...since he hasn't signed for that yet.
  19. Just like last year...wheeler's wife influenced his decision, If Springer gets near similar offers from the Sox and a team GUARANTEEING him CF, he will take that offer 9/10 times. He already won a WS, he just wants a payday at this point, playing the position he wants to play. I don't fault him for that, and honestly he was always a luxury...SP is where the money should be going
  20. Trading for Wheeler would be absolutely wreckless and shortsighted. The return would be way too big. And I will eat my shoe if JR is willing to take on Wheeler and Harper's salaries at near full.
  21. He is a great fit and I like it because Engel doesn't get exposed either. I wonder if Joc would be DH until Vaughn joins the club as well. If you can get a great starter this is really the way to go. Nice write up.
  22. That deal plus a 2 year extension with 3rd year option is perfect. Sheets is never getting a spot with MLB club and tyler johnson is filler
  23. Agreed. Realmuto and Springer should be their focuses. I am totally fine with Springer and & Realmuto or McCann going to Mets and Sox fighting over Bauer with Angels and a partially cash strapped Padres. With all the japanese/Korean/Non Tendered options that opened up this week, a RF platoon will easily be had for a cheap price.
  24. being in a new league and a full spring training would be hopeful for a rebound. His outfielding would be great and he can still be a DH towards the end of the contract. It was the weirdest trade I could think of that benefits both teams and fills immediate needs for the Sox. Sign Brantley as DH, a backup catcher and the offseason is over.
