Really good on this one. You subtract 2 bad outing against the Dodgers and pitching in coors field and the dude was sub 3.50 era coming off TJ. I think he is a really solid add.

$22M? Woof.
yeah, that is absurd. not interested at anything over 14 mil at absolute most.

Can revolution (weed maker) make a Belly Sativa this weekend to convince a cheap signing? Like 8 mil a year and endless pot for the life of his time here? Win win.

at some point both of these players will have a season where they are injury free and produce. maybe this is the kickoff to that as they will have increased conditioning and reps. i personally like it.
-
Andrew as a full time 1st baseman will outhit Abreu the next 2 seasons.

Who is the new batting coach? That matters the absolute most to me.
Grifol - Manager
Montoyo - Bench Coach
Katz - Pitching Coach
??? - Batting CoachThis is looking okay. Not great, but I am coming to terms with the process of more analytic approach and with the right Launch Angle hire in BC...we may just be able to get more out of the disappointment of the last two years.
-
I think its safe to say that Hahn will no longer be with the organization after 2024 if they fail to reach the playoffs under Grifol's first 2 seasons. This hire is fine...but it's not what RH himself promised, and its not inspiring for a team aspiring to win "multiple championships" as he stated. FML. At least Tony is gone...but why go from a senior that has reputation to a freshmen that may not even have seen a dick before...
-
I for one am happy that this is being drawn out with many options. Makes me feel like they are actively doing due-diligence and debating candidates properly. And the hires all the other teams have made are solid...but were not realistic to Sox signing anyways. Long makes the most sense based on needs...and it not being announced yet could simply be the Phillies asking for it to wait until after WS.

Ozzie is great...as the postgame color. Why would he want to give up that cushy gig? And why would anyone in this org think he won't blow up in a politically incorrect rant that get's him cancelled within the first 2 seasons?

I blame all of this on wheeler's wife. It's all her fault...?
-
zero excuses here. I didn't plan on flying up for the fest...but it surely doesn't seem like a good PR move - which to me equates to almost no additions coming this offseason with the exception of a manager and hahn saying "the team is on the field"

Hahn is always looking for reasons to not build depth. Martin shoving again would have made it easier for him to be the 5th or 6th starter to open next year.
maybe this is for the best.
Agreed. Now cueto is back on the table at the least. Bummer, was rooting for Davis
-
Giolito will have his best performance of the year...when it doesn't even come close to mattering. so White Sox.

Is there a financial reward for finishing second?
yeah, it means JR made a profit because fans had high expectations with middling results. WIN WIN for him. FML
-
Hahn should probably be fired for the Joe Kelly signing alone. It was the worst of the off-season by any GM.
-
I was a Hahn guy until THIS season. f*** him and his obsession with overpriced relievers and "seat at the table" BS. Clean house completely or this rebuild is going to be a study in GM school for what not to do the next 50 years.

ALL the money needs to be spent on replacing the entire coaching staff and especially building a world class sports medicine training team. Chicago has incredible talent in that realm, but it seems preventative maintenance was horrific this year. Get them on a plan in Oct/Nov, and build a philosophy geared to each player. They may do this already...but it seems light years different than the herm era.

It's never been about the managers or coaches. At least for me. Players. They're quitters.
Agreed...but with Tony's contract on the books...they wont hire someone new. And Cairo proved this series he is clueless as well....so its the last year of window (2023) that is gonna be wasted again. Unreal.

So Cairo aint it...we are so fucked

So last night was meaningless afterall. Put a fork in em...thank goodness it's over

This is where I am at. at 8-10, this was a great deal...once you get 12 or more...and it shouldn't be a prove it deal anymore. Let's hope he gets 3 WAR and its good value
