Seriously. What an embarrassment. Lucky that Rendon saved the moment. The announcing booth was deplorable though trying to defend it.

Cole and Strasburg and even potentially Wheeler and Bumgardner all are priced out potentially because the playoffs... Dodgers fans will call for a starter. Yankees once again fall short and will HAVE to overpay for an ace or #2. If Astros win WS....extra cash could resign Cole. If Nats win WS...extra cash could resign Strasburg. It's gonna be a tough competitive december-february.

His agent is Scott Boras...4 year deals....?. Dude is getting 5-7 years at 30mil per minimum if he leads his team to world series win if his pitching stays as strong as it has been. I said it in another thread...In his first 6 post season starts, he has the 2nd best numbers EVER...only behind Koufax. Boras will make a 12 page binder about that alone.
-
This is the lineup for me if we dont sign a stud DH: 1. Madrigal 2. Robert 3. Moncada 4. Eloy 5. Abreu / Replaced by Vaughn in 2021 6. DH 7. Anderson 8. McCann (regression reasons) 9. RF FA - some semblence of Speed and contact. If we sign a Stud DH or Grandal...Madrigal moves to ninth and everyone shifts forward 1 and Grandal Moves behind Abreu

Man...Strasburg is getting more expensive every start now. He may compete with Cole for top 2 highest salaries. He has the 2nd best numbers for a starter other than Koufax for first 6 starts of postseason...
-
All we can hope is cole pitches terrible and Yankees sour a bit on him...?
-
Cole now costs 230+ mil now after this series

I commute right past Braves stadium and the amount of people leaving by the fourth inning was obviously massive.

Rumor: Reinsdorf aims to build second place teams
EloyJenkins replied to Jack Parkman's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The timing on this article is unreal with the feud we were having with Ray Ray in another thread. Perception of cheapness is what I was saying...and boy does this article echo that. It may not be fully true, but if enough people believe it... -
I thought He was more in the 96-98 range when called up?
-
I dream of Cole ...but Boras will drag it out til March.
-
Woah. I knew he was ahead of schedule...but that is outstanding. It's not unheard of for post TJ velocity increases...can you imagine 98-100 being his normal FB velo going forward. Dang
-
winning would cure it all. unfortunately for Both the Bulls and Sox...not so much of that for far too long.
-
We agree on something. That is what I posted earlier also. Truce.
-
Or if you have a maniac owner that wants to win at all costs. Would be nice to have one of those is all any of us wish for. The third biggest market in the nation should support higher revenues on a regular basis if you are winning.
-
I agree that they scout reasonably well. The FA major weakness is a direct result of players avoiding the team due to ownership perception. It all could have changed had Wade and Lebron signed there, but it didn't happen and it's unfortunate that a reputation can have such an affect on the future of teams. I hate it. I actually am fine with JR and he is a brilliant businessman, but i don't understand how saying the sox had a high payroll for years defends him. This is Chicago. The payroll should be top 5-10 every year and luxury tax should be shattered if the players help the team win a championship.
-
Using Paxson (a total JR puppet) does nothing to help your case. Paxson gets into near yelling matches with radio hosts trying to defend the same tired excuses every year.
-
Agreed. But the conversation should not come to Jordan Bell. Once again, JR is not cheap in reality...but in rumor and perception he is considered one of the cheapest owners in the NBA. it is not debatable. Him not firing GarPax only fuels that perception. Unfortunately that perception bleeds into the White Sox organization as well. The Machado deal did nothing to fix that either.
-
The Braves caught a fluky run last season...i live 5 minutes from their park...they super overachieved last season. They made a couple great moves to fix issues they had and their player development has been amazing the last 2 seasons. Almost every call up has made a major impact whether they have stuck or just filled in. The rays play in a blood bath division that gave them little chance and they once again made gang buster FA acquisitions that hit. The Twins got unreal production from every middle of the road FA they signed. Not sure why you are so on fire right now, but all 3 teams 2 seasons ago were on the outside looking in - especially the twins.
-
Ding Ding Ding. Great points. The Twins, Rays and Braves all dusted us in offseason moves and were not supposed to be truly this competitive yet. Combination of great FA signings and player development. 2020 has ZERO excuses for the White Sox.
-
I am a diehard Bulls fan as well. It is not baseless when FA's specifically call it out and is widely known. Will he spend...sure, and I agree he has plenty. But the optics by players and industry folk is that he is on the cheaper side.
-
I am a dumb dumb head. I forgot about Lopez. I am not as high on him though as the other options. I would not be opposed to Q as an option but with Rodon and Kopech both coming back, you are right, they wouldn't do that. I just hope they are willing to dish out for Wheeler or Oridozzi.
-
they are going to decline his option...but not to go after those guys. they are cutting payroll it sounds. I am fine with Q back. he would be a great #4 for the future and think he could rebound under cooper (one of the only things I think cooper can do well). Q and Wheeler would make for quite the competitive rotation: 1st 2 months June 2020-beyond Giolito Giolito Wheeler Wheeler Quintana Kopech Cease Quintana Filler Cease (to leap frog Q by 2021 and Rodon can be traded)
-
payroll has no business being under 125m/year in this market. I know JR is cheap, but with the new TV deal and the MLB streaming kickbacks...payroll should be 140m+ each of the next 5 competing seasons. NO excuses anymore.
-
one top of line pitcher is crucial. outside of that...yes, middle of the road is fine...the Twins did a heck of a job with that strategy last offseason.
