It isn't overreacting when your ace could get injured pitching in the rain for no reason at all.
I'll give you the rain part...but he's fine. 92 pitches was light. Let him get his 100-105 and sit down. I see nothing wrong with it. He's 24.

The overreacting in a 10-1 game.... Relax.

I luuuuv this team. Even if they end up winning 77 games they're still entertaining.
I think 84-85 is possible

Think of the discount Jerry got though. get 4 TJs, get the 5th free!

if Basabe rakes this second half of the season, the progress of the minors really takes off and makes 2020 and 2021 start to really take shape roster wise.
Let's hope he is healthy and ready. -

With the way he is trending lately...that is great.

If Keuchel has a solid 3 month stint with the Braves then this is actually good for us. He would become another reliable LH starter on the FA market for 2020 when we clearly need to go buy one.
very much this. Unless Sox were going to sign him for 3 year deal...it didn't make sense this year. Best case scenario is he goes out and is solid (not amazing) and Sox can use him as a backup option if they can't swing the homerun on Cole. This also allows us to see Cease, get one last extended look at Covey...and hope ReyLo can put it together. 2020 is the appropriate time to compete. Twins being this good really put the damper on the false dream that they could compete this year.

Prosecky and Osmond picked this round. Dream of another high profile is gone. Interesting to see if any of these HS outfielders sign with Sox.

Has Fowler gone yet?
Nope, Fowler and Prosecky both still available.

Maybe he's insurance?
honestly that makes most sense. They basically would need to waste almost every other pick to sign both. and Allan for sure could bolt. But both of them do have that carrot of the Met's pitching aura the last few years. the hype has been nuts.
-
I would love with all these low risk picks we are nabbing up, we still go crazy and try for Osmond or Spencer Jones.

Madrigal's final 17 games in Winston-Salem:
.313 average, .385 OBP, .448 SLG
3 2B, 2 HR, 9 SB 1 CS
7 BB (1 IBB), 2 HBP, 1 K
That is what we all expected. If this was truly wrist finally healing...this is great production

He's either a 1 hitter or a 9 hitter. It all depends on his on base skill, which seems to be dependent on his BA because he doesn't walk a ton.
Yeah. I think it comes down to Robert. Do Sox want Robert to be the Alfonso Soriano leadoff type with 40 homers or slot him at #2 or #5. Moncada as a #2 just works I think.
If I had my way for 2021-
1. Robert
2. Moncada
3. Jimenez
4. Vaughn
5. JD Martinez/Collins/Burger DH
6. McCann/Collins
7. Anderson
8. RF FA
9. Madrigal
For 2020 I think JD is the target for DH and you put whomever at first.
-
Having him hit with Robert again is not a bad thing. Also..hoping that change of scenery can light a fire a bit and he embraces the chance. Also good that barons are finally starting to hit as a team more...that can be contagious hopefully.
And since yolmer is really it and will be looking at 6-7 mil in arbitration...I don't mind this one bit. Save that money for a RF bat
-
With drafting Vaughn ..literally the entire infield will be home grown...and McCann / Collins will be your catcher/DH set. Jimenez and Robert will be once again homegrown ...having one FA in your lineup for a rebuild is pretty dang successful.

Lord you can tell some of the newbs here who don't understand how this process works in the draft. Been like this for a while.
Ha. all you have to do is look at the MLB draft tracker since round 5. rounds 6-9 have like one top 200 pick per all teams per round.

Do Sox do a few more sign guys and then go after Osmond? Any chance Barco is worth a chance even with Injury?
And does anyone risk Maurice Hampton at this point? His tweet is gone, but his twitter cover image is him in the LSU jersey...

In order to get the slot amount the kid has to sign or you lose it.
yeah, about 10K is the going rate for a 4 year senior. you either take it or don't extend your career.

The 2020 Rotation - What’s Your Plan?

Giolito
Jake Odorizzi
Strasburg
Kopech
Cease
lopez as a filler and potentially to start season if kopech or cease have a hiccup.
if they can't get Strasburg I go for Keuchel. There is Zero percent chance of getting Cole with the Yankees in play.
also Rodon moves to Bullpen to play out his contract
